  1. Medical Student
Current MS1 in New York (I'm Canadian), planning to go to go back to Canada for residency - USMLE Necessary?

Very few Canadian citizens actually end up matching to the US. It will probably make you a better doctor having done the extra studying.

1. Is it worth the time and effort for Canadian medical students to write the USMLEs if they are not planning to pursue a residency in the U.S. (but may consider a temporary fellowship in the U.S. later on)?

2. If you are a Canadian medical student, write the USMLE Step 1, and score poorly, do you need to report/declare this score to U.S. fellowship programs when applying? Do U.S. and Canadian schools automatically see (all) your scores?

Any other info re: USMLE requirements for fellowship, for Canadian students, and re: whether score reporting is mandatory would be extremely appreciated and helpful!

Well if it's a requirement for the program, then yeah they probably need to see it. If not, you need it for some Visa's anyway
