Lately I have been concerned about my extracurriculars. I was planning on becoming a hospice volunteer for clinical hours while working as a part time barista and count that as employment. I chose to work part time as a barista rather than becoming a scribe solely because I enjoy the job. However I was wondering if it mattered to the admissions if I had more hours accumulated working as a barista than the hours accumulated volunteering at a hospice? Should I just play it safe and switch to scribing?

If you like doing the barista thing, and you're getting sufficient time doing the part time hospital thing, stick with that. Throw some time shadowing though too, which will give a little bit difference experience, but you won't have to give up something you like doing.

I don't think they will look that deeply and compare those things, so I wouldn't switch to scribing just for that.

What year are you in and how many total hours do you have in volunteering?
