It's okay, I applied to Yale, Columbia, and UCLA. Just don't think about it.

I applied to Colombia, Case Western, and Kentucky. I had to consider which to choose because I don't have a health plan, unfortunately lol...

I hope I get into Colombia because it's in NY and I miss it so much, but also because of it's status I guess.

I have a 3.7 GPA, biracial, and I come from a very economically disadvantaged background (with 13 siblings). The dean of my college, who taught my anatomy course wrote my science recommendation, so I hope that helps my appl. I'm taking his gross anatomy course which is a blast so far. I tried my best on my personal statements reflecting on my struggles and future goals. I don't think I ever been this excited about the program but if I don't get in, I guess I'll take a phlebotomy course at the hospital...

My application was complete on Jan 31st (whew!), and Case Western began viewing it that same week, so I'll take that as something positive lol. I hope Colombia views soon, but I'm guessing they're full. I'll call them tomorrow and ask i suppose..

Yale is reviewing mine as of now. I am freaking out though bc they only have ONE of my letters of recommendation. I don't now what to do. I may have to call them tomorrow.😕

I have the same thing, but both my recommendation status is ---. I know my recommendations were submitted prior to Feb 1st bc my teachers let me know they did.

Same boat here. But people have been accepted w/o the LORs. I mean it's just rating you as a person on a scale of one to five, how important could it be compared to your GPA and ecs?

Well most letter writers attach a written letter to it like mine did and also did the rating scale thing

It's not required so it's not like it gives you an advantage.

They say it's not required but it's logical to do it because it will provide better information rather then just a rating scale.

My app is still in review by them...does this mean I didnt get into their site if I didn't get accepted yet? Or are they releasing the decision on the 15th for everyone? I would think so cause they didn't reject me yet either...

Yes, no matter what you won't see the decision until the 15th.

So if he said that they were full, you will find out the day they release decisions.

yea. when i called them the woman at smdep and she was was like NOPE, i do not have your other letter of rec (from my bio teacher). So i asked my bio teacher if he sent it and he said he DEFINITELY did bc after he sent it, he even got a confirmation number from them saying they got it. SO he had to resend it but i dont think it will make it in time for decision date. i am guessing this woman i talked too was too lazy to actually look

As long as it's postmarked by Feb 1st, you should be fine.

Some sites give you a stipend for food, some sites give you meals (at the university's cafeteria) so I would guess that it depends...but keep in mind that there is also a program completion stipend 😀

Hey, I'm not sure about everyone else, but UW hasn't reviewed my app yet. When did you submit, straanth? I submitted mid-January. Do you guys think UW could be full already? :-(

I can't believe Columbia is already full (for medicine) -- I'm a little confused, though, because it says that my app is in review.

Well that's because no matter what they won't release decisions until the 15th whether you were accepted or not.

Oh, I thought that they wouldn't even bother reviewing your application if their site was full. Instead of the "Application in Review" status, I thought it would just remain "--" if a site was full.

Thanks I have heard of it before. I have never done any of these programs, but I met two people that have done the one at UofL. Both of them said it was great. One guy is in his first year at Howard, and the other is going to start PCOM-PA.

I've never done this program before either, so I'm really hoping I get accepted! I know quite a few friends who have done smdep at UMNDJ and columbia. You should apply if you haven't already! Its an amazing opportunity

thanks you are sooo nice, but my days of trying to do those programs are over. I am starting medical school this Fall.

I hope you did get into the program. Back in the day I would have loved to be a Columbia student even if it was only for the summer.

Only two of mine are (Yale and Duke), Howard still isn't, but it's only because they're not updating as they review.

I don't think they'll be released on midnight. Probably sometime around mid-day (that's what happened last year).

True, but it's a microcosm (VERY VERY MICROcosm lol) of that process, which will be here before we know it! 🙂
