Never mind. It updated. My program filled 🙁
Yes, but the list is being updated by NRMP so it might take until 3:30pm to get updated.Yes, students only have until 2 to accept offers. We can't apply until 2:30. The list will be updated because no one will be accepting more offers during that time.
mine too! but when can i apply to 10 more programsMine just updated!
My list updated on NRMP, but it won't let me add programs to my selected list on ERAS yet.Has the program list updated for anyone else? It hasn't changed from the original on my screen.

I thought that even though we couldn't apply yet, it would add programs that we have selected to that selected list?We have to wait until 2:30 to apply. Right now we can't apply.
I was able to add programs. Whether or not they will disappear and I'll have to re-add them at 2:30 is another matter...I thought that even though we couldn't apply yet, it would add programs that we have selected to that selected list?
Well ... that's terrifying. It isn't letting me add programs...I was able to add programs. Whether or not they will disappear and I'll have to re-add them at 2:30 is another matter...

It adds my selected programs to the cycle 1 list!! I am able to apply
mine too!!OK, I added and applied to programs. Now ADTS lite is giving me a status of "(Application not Available for Download Yet)"
Does anyone know when these applications will be released to programs?
From a PD's view....
There is still too much confusion about how SOAP works from some PDs and PCs. The mechanics and logic of a preference list is not being 100% understood. I think that some more emphasis on that part is important. It is not "Match 2.0", as applicants have to accept or reject offers instead of a re-run of the Match algorithm. But from the Program point of view, you should just rank applicants in order of preference.
I believe so, whatever programs that you initially applied to that remain unfilled are fair game and are in addition to the final 10 hail marys'Is it possible to still get offers from the programs we applied to in cycle 1 if they still have vacant spots?'
And will we get phone interviews from the ones we applied to in cycle 2?

though i think people should temper expectations if the program never contacted you for round 1, because that likely means you were passed over once already. My understanding is that yes, we are still under consideration for any program we applied do in cycle one that didn't fill. I believe we are also in the running for those programs, should they not fill after cycle 2, until they actually fill.

i would have done the same, except i basically ran out of programs to apply to for the specialties i wanted. i know some people say any residency is better than none, but i just can't get on board with doing a specialty for the rest of my life that i really hate. so i figured just take a shot in the dark that someone looks at my app in the 20-30 minutes between. probably doesn't really matter either way unless there are still tons of options that people still have on the list.I'm not going to apply to my ten progs until after cycle 2. No point. There's no time for them to contact me, they probably wouldn't even have all that much time to download the applications. So I'll just wait until after cycle 2 to see what's left.
I've joked about writing a book about everything wrong with the entire medical school process and this experience is no exception. The only thing keeping me from actually doing it is not wanting to relive the misery while writing.they should really offer people post-match/SOAP counseling. i'm totally gonna have PTSD after this. flashbacks to refreshing constantly. seeing "You do not have any offers" when i close my eyes. i'm not sure if i will be able to take the crushing defeat of another failed wave of offers.
definitely. someone in this thread got an offer without even being called. and you still have 10 more apps too.Yeah I agree. I only got one phone interview and that program filled in cycle one. I'm not expecting any offers in cycle 2. But I'm hanging around, just in case. You never know....
Bets on how long NRMP sends offers at 3?? I'm voting 80 minutes haha
just curious, what was their logic behind that strategy?Just applied to 10 of the most random mix of specialties ever at my dean's urging. This should be interesting.
I see it as two things:just curious, what was their logic behind that strategy?
You can always change specialties later. This way, you don't lose a year being unemployed.i just can't get on board with doing a specialty for the rest of my life that i really hate.
i really hate how utterly backwards the system seems sometimes. a student goes through med school, invests a massive amount of debt, develops a passion for a certain specialty, really wants to devote their life to it....then is told they have to do something completely different because that's just how it works.I see it as two things:
- The school gets to maintain their match statistics
- The student gets a job
but how feasible is this? and wouldn't using a residency program simply to bide time to abandon it for another one be frowned upon? You can always change specialties later. This way, you don't lose a year being unemployed.
I spoke to a NRMP rep and they said the cycle 2 offers come from the first 35 applications you sent out. The new 10 applications are not considered until tomorrow's offer rounds. So, I'd say you have a good stategy in mind! 🙂I'm not going to apply to my ten progs until after cycle 2. No point. speaking logistics, isn't that a bit silly? what is the point of opening the application submission that early then?I spoke to a NRMP rep and they said the cycle 2 offers come from the first 35 applications you sent out.
