speaking logistics, isn't that a bit silly? what is the point of opening the application submission that early then?
to reduce us to anxiety ridden med students who need lexapro for the rest of our lives, of course

i really hate how utterly backwards the system seems sometimes. a student goes through med school, invests a massive amount of debt, develops a passion for a certain specialty, really wants to devote their life to it....then is told they have to do something completely different because that's just how it works.
how long does this round go on for??
From what I understood 3-5 this afternoon, but the poster above who spoke to the NRMP said it could go till tomorrow...who knows
In the first round, it took 71 minutes for everyone to get a page that didn't say "offers are being generated"well in wave 1, i think the latest an offer popped up for someone was after 40 minutes? or was there one longer than that?
because we are all masochistswhats the point of refreshing? why not just come back around 4:30 and check, since the deadline is 5pm anyway? you'll still know if its still generating or not, and whether or not you have offers.
as han solo would say, never tell me the oddsway less spot..but only about 100 less applicants out of the 3000 + soaping..omg this sux
How do you know the number of people in the soap??way less spot..but only about 100 less applicants out of the 3000 + soaping..omg this sux
You can take a year off for research, etc to improve your app and reapply. I wouldn't want a different specialty because it was open.i really hate how utterly backwards the system seems sometimes. a student goes through med school, invests a massive amount of debt, develops a passion for a certain specialty, really wants to devote their life to it....then is told they have to do something completely different because that's just how it works.
YES! Thank you for sharing my sentiment. Yet I keep hearing of these schools telling their students to match wherever in whatever...maybe purely out of selfish reasons to keep their match numbers up?You can take a year off for research, etc to improve your app and reapply. But what is this then? http://www.theabr.org/ic-dr-req, granted it's from the ABR not the ACGME, but still.I was just offered a spot and had it taken away in the next breath. Supposedly their TY does not count for radiology applicants... ACGME rule? He was all, "I'm so sad. We have a spot for you and I wanted to make a deal with you, but ACGME has made it very clear to us that our program wards months must be run by IM not FM faculty in order to count for radiology." I just broke down crying in my school's parking lot. I just can't anymore.
