There'll be downtime periods for mingling at most interviews- make the most of them if you're looking for some extra fun post-interview. Do not flirt in front of administration, ever.

oh no i meant in terms of admissions. it would suck for even my friendly actions to be perceived as unprofessional and impact my chances...so being friendly in the waiting room and keeping it separate from the more fun conversations later?

your loveliness and charms for your classmates after you've been accepted. But to each his/her own...

My work is mostly saved for nights. In fact, I'm taking some guys out to the river tonight for "swimming lessons".

The RNG for life's character creation process really isn't all that great, you end up with a lot of duplicates. I know three girls that look exactly like her myself.

I'm just saying that there's only so many different ways a person can look, so you'll see a great number of completely identical people in your life. Regardless, I would advise you to leave op alone about their identity, as outing is against the ToS, and would also advise op to change their pic because nothing good can come of having your profile pic be one of yourself.

I've had two Grey's Anatomy type experiences, I guess.

When I was doing my last poster presentation at a conference, some Medtronic reps took us out for dinner/drinks. One of the guys was a psychiatrist, so his pick up line to me was "I know what you're thinking right now." I go "what?" He said "you're picturing me naked." *eyeroll*

Second was a neuro resident telling me about how there is a well known drama at a certain Top 20. A neuro fellow knocked up a nurse and then dumped her, and then started dating another nurse on the same unit. He got engaged to nurse 2, but nurse 1 had just had his newborn child. Apparently, nurse 1 and 2 got in an honest to god fight (weaves were pulled out) on the neuro step down unit while they were at work, with both of them flaunting the nature of their relationships with him.

I swear to God, sex is the root of so many problems.

Problem has been solved with help from someone else on SDN. Don't fret about it everyone. (For the record: I do know the person in that photo. People can look identical but exact Facebook photos do not. Apparently @Byakuya is not that person.)

We got coffee and he kept texting me, but when we became Facebook friends I noticed he had lots of photos with one girl. Fast forward a week and I am volunteering in the same hospital, in a different department/ward. THE GIRL IN THE PHOTOS WAS A NURSE IN THIS WARD.

That ended that.

Yeah, I am pretty sure. She was very pretty too so I doubt they were just "friends posing as significant others." Like I said, I never talked to him again. He was also kindof a classic surgery jerk (no offense to future surgery bros out there).

How does knowing the person violate SDN policy? I never said her name or any information about her. It wasn't even detective work.

When I was applying BS/MD, I got a comment from an interviewer who said I would be the "Lebron James" of medicine because I was smart, personable, and attractive. I wasn't sure how normal it was for an interviewer to call the interviewee good looking, but I think the comment seemed fairly innocuous, if complete exaggeration!

I've had male professors make comments like that to me. I feel like it is almost always awkward and inappropriate.

Plus makes me doubt why they are interested in helping me.

If I'm following this train of events right, I don't think @carpediem22 did anything wrong.

If OP was using a picture of themselves as an avatar, totally reasonable to say something along the lines of "um you know your photo is totally identifiable". He didn't threaten to doxx/out her at any point.

And if the OP is using someone else's photo as their avatar, even more reasonable to call them out for that.

I mean I'm professional at events, I'm social at students events, but I think using the opportunity at in interview for your own personal tinder/match.com isn't smart. Save it for med school...you were obviously not having a good work/life balance in undergrad to be ready to jump people's bones after interviews are done OP lol
 
haha sorry for the picture confusion everyone! i thought it would be funny to put up a sultry pic of a friend since everyone was making fun of me 🙁 but small world...her mutual friends (and even someone who knew me personally!) caught it in record time. hope that didn't violate any rules or anything. i got a little tipsy at a reception at work so bad choices on me

returning to the basic premise, so I should watch out in front of administrators, don't get knocked up, and try to keep it platonic during the cycle? I still want to meet people outside of interviews but I will try to stay away from my "type" hehe! and then second look would be a better place to "explore" my classmates? thanks for all the input and stories and warnings, this was really helpful to ensure that my proclivities don't get in the way of acceptances
 
And I was in a sorority, a professional one, but I can't say we were always truly up to that standard. We were in our early 20s! But we went to a lot of conferences, including Vegas (now that was fun!) but we stayed professional at events that were deemed so, even on our own time

Making sure you don't get tipsy throughout the interviews will be a plus.
