Socializing over gap year?

Guys, how on earth do you socialize if you're taking a gap year? I live in the middle of no where in a county where the average age is pretty old. Where would you turn to after college to find friends?

I took a pseudo-gap year and made a few friends at my job. Then again, they are around my age.

check out if ther's any good meetup groups (google meetup if you don't know what I'm talking about)

if there's some and none work for you, consider starting one

if there's none, still, consider starting one

if there's some decent bars, you could try becoming a regular at one, most sell non-alcoholic drinks

if making firends in general is an issue, try google for more ideas and ways to appraoch people

I found a lot of friends during my gap year while volunteering and working. Plus, old friends aren't necessarily a bad thing!
