Hello,

So here I am , gearing up for the MCAT one more time. ha ha. my plan was to do this, retake some classes i had a c in (not too many) and apply to DO schools next year.

but in the mean time i have been working on my plan b, which includes Nurse Practioner, PA, a masters in forensics and podiatry. well the school where i would do my masters said i had an excellent shot at getting in, and for the pod school i have a shot at entering the upcomming class.

does anyone know or have done podiatry? my dream was dO but im trying to realistic. can I marticulate and still apply DO? anyone else doing a plan B type scenario?

thx guys.

m.c.

I never recommend settling. I think it sets you up for being up happy later.

That being said what are your stats?

having backup plan is good but wats the point of doing something which u never chesirshed for. U have a diverse interest from forensics to podiatry to NP to PA. and every job has a different job description. its not u r gonna do samething. So i think you should first decide what you want to do. Why waste so many years of life doing something that you never wanted to. If you want to do MD, then apply for MD. you can also choose Carribean or Austrlian Medical School option also. If you are really interested than i think its much more better to attend a foreign medical school rather than settling for Forensics or Podiatry or NP school.

however if u had an interest in Podiatry than its different. but u seem to have DO as your primary goal. I dont think its a good idea. I also wanted to apply for MD schools. But i always wanted to do F & A. So when i heard abt podiatry i changed my mind. But if you want to be a Cardiologist after doing your DO. and you just want to do DPM as a back up plan. then it will not work. Why waste like nearly 120-140K on loans and studying for 6-7 yrs when u again wanna join DO school or med school.

u cud also visit this website

http://www.uhsa.ag/pstudent/dpm/parp.htm

it is an accelerated MD program for DPM grads which you may choose to do after you graduate. ofcourse it has a very bad reputation and many states dont recognize it. Its just for name sake that u r a MD.lol!
