SOS pod school help/advice

From what I can recall, I don't believe there is a certain amount of hours you need to shadow. I had like 15 hours of shadowing.

You don't necessarily need the LORs at the time of applying. Most schools look at your GPA and MCAT numbers first. However, with scholl, they will need your LORs before they make their decision. Overall, it will be easier for you if you just submit everything together (if LOR is going to delay your application, then I suggest submitting app first, then LORs later)

Your sGPA and cGPA is quite nice. However, the issue I see is your MCAT score. 490 is a low score ( I believe it's like a 19 on the old mcat). With my experience so far, schools are putting a heavy emphasis on the MCAT scores. With DMU and Scholl, you might need to retake it. I suggest calling the schools and see what your chances are.

I've seen people get some interviews with lower numbers than yours, so you might have a chance. I suggest applying to the bigger schools as well (4 big schools are kent state, scholl, nycpm, and temple). Also, I suggest not applying to temple unless you can get your mcat score past 495 or even 500+.

Your GPA is just fine. Your MCAT translates to a 19-20. That would be the biggest red flag but you could still get in several schools. For smaller and more selective schools, a retake would probably be advised (like DMU). I would recommend applying at other places too. If you decide to stick with your score, apply asap. More students will apply, spaces will be filled, and then it'll be tougher. So at the very least finalize your app, get it verified, and then send those LORS as they come. Shadow some more for the experience (and to be positive it's what you want) but what's important for your app is the Pod LOR and then being able to talk about your shadowing experience regardless of the hours.

Or, what he said lol.

And just for reference, my stats are lower than yours but same MCAT. Got II to Barry, Scholl, Kent, and was still waiting on Temple. I did kill my master's program though. I don't know how their interviews are or if I would have gotten accepted since I only interviewed and accepted Barry. I live in Miami, and was set on the program a while ago. Temple would have been number two, though I suspect I would've had to retake the MCAT for it.

Wait, you got an interview invite from Temple with a 490?

No. I was waiting on their invite or rejection but I never got anything. Still haven't.

My guess is that you will have to retake that MCAT if you want an acceptance.
