I have my interview this Friday! Any advice?
Make sure you say everything you want to say! It is a group interview so make sure your answers are concise and you are able to present yourself as completely as possible! They made it very relaxing as they were very sociable and really kind!

I got a call today saying they will send out decisions in the next few days!

Have you received any instructions on putting down the deposit or anything? I received an acceptance letter and was told I would be receiving a follow up email but I have not received anything yet regarding the deposit and background check information!
Hi! I was accepted into the Summer class starting in May. It took them over a month to send information regarding the deposit and background check so be patient! In the meantime, I would get started on all your clinical documents such as the physical and tb tests cause it takes awhile and it's nice to just have that all done by the time they send you the information on how to upload those documents. Also check your spam email often cause I found out a week later that they sent the email with all that info to my spam. Congrats!

Thank you! Yeah, I've started on the CPR & First Aid certification. I think most of my shots are up to date so I'm just waiting on the background and drug test information since they said that process was the longest

Received my acceptance this morning for the OTD San Marcos Fall 2018!

I got accepted into the San Marcos OTD program!

Congrats to those of you who got accepted!! 🙂 I also interviewed for San Marcos (on 2/23) but for the MOT program. Did you receive an email or a call about your acceptance?

Hey! Congratulations! I have an interview at San Marcos this Friday. I was wondering did you receive similar questions to what NatOT and kdom94 had for their OTD interview, like tell me about yourself, why you chose OT, why USA, and most difficult part about attending USA? I noticed you interviewed the same day as them

Thank you! The professor who interviewed my group of 3 only asked where we did our undergrad, why we chose OT, and then brought out something made with the 3D printer and asked us what it was (all of us had no clue... I think she was seeing if we would ask questions to better understand). She rushed us along in our answers and we literally only had like 30 sec-1 min to speak. She discussed the program and what to expect. To be honest, I think they are watching throughout the day to see how you are interacting with others and with the staff. Also, ASK questions to every leader you interact with throughout the day! Mostly, just let your personality shine and GOOD LUCK!

Oh wow I see, that was less questions than for OTD! Did she let you know before the interview questions that you would only have 30 min-1 min to speak? Thank you for the tips, I'll be sure to ask a lot of questions! This Friday, I feel that the interview will definitely be rushed as well since Erin, the enrollment advisor called me today as a reminder to help the process go quicker on Friday, since they moved the interview time to 8-10:30 instead of 10:15-1 so now it'll be 45 min shorter too. She said there's a very large group coming that day for PT and OT so that we can check in as early as 7:30 if we wanted to and reminded me about valet.

We were told the interviews were group-based and that was it. However, when you check in, on your tag, it will say what group you are and the professor you interview with. So mine said 12:00-12:30, but you don't know how many are in your group until it is time to interview. I just say to be concise in your answers and if others are answering before you, be prepping your answer in your mind. We accidentally ran over on our time and ran into Kdom94's time, but we were asking questions so she wanted to answer them. They will probably just shorten the time you spend going over questions about the program in a large group and ask those in a small group probably. Best of luck to you!

I got into the San Marcos campus OTD program!!!

Quick question, is anyone worried that the OTD program is still technically under review for AOTA Accreditation?
I wanted to add, I asked a question about this during our interview, because it does worry me a bit. But Erin told me that they could not accept students if they are not slated to be accredited by the time they are due to graduate. Also, she submitted the next step about a week and a half ago she said, then there are two observation days (April and October I believe) to ensure they are doing what they say. She said they should be accredited by December.

Ohhh okay, yay! I had looked up on my own that AOTA had approved them to admit students, but wasn’t exactly sure where they were in the process. This definitely makes me feel more at ease, thank you!

I’d also check my spam folder periodically throughout the week if I were you. Initially I had only received an email with my USA portal login info and was very confused, then I checked in my spam folder, found 3 acceptance emails (lol) and almost immediately after received a phone call.

I definitely don’t think the less question thing was intentional. She kept looking at the clock because we were rushed for time. She did not give us a limit for how long to talk, she would just try to keep the ball rolling the second we took a breath basically. We actually didn’t have time to ask questions at the end of our interview, but yes just be sure to ask throughout the day! Everyone will be watching to see who is interacting!

Should we make a facebook group for the San Marcos campus? I've seen a lot of people do that for the other schools!

I dont see anywhere on the email where it says to bring a copy of your resume.. did y'all bring it anyways?

I definitely brought it! I also brought a scientific article that has been published, just in case haha.

Thank you! If my answer for questions were to be 2.5 min long, is that too long and not concise enough?

I think that would be okay. Because during interviews we naturally speak a little bit faster than we practice 🙂

I just received my acceptance yesterday! (Fall in San Marcos). Maybe I’ll see you guys there. Still trying to make a decision. Has anyone received info on merit scholarships for USA?

Congrats! I haven't received any further info besides the acceptance. From what I've read, we will hear about the scholarships and stuff in like 2 weeks or so.

No, they said that they wouldn't be sending that info out for several weeks...I think that they're still trying to smooth things out for the summer start thats why. What schools are you deciding between?

True. Thanks! Just USA and USC. I would really just go to USA in order to save $$ since my boyfriend lives in SD. Also really like the area (coming from Long Beach). I really love USC’s program and the opportunities there outside of the classroom. They have a list of scholarships and such to help with tuition and one per year is given just based on grades. But that’s why I was wondering about USA and what they offer. If it’d be significantly less for me then I’d pick USA.

Does anybody know if USA does financial aid through FAFSA? I cannot find their school code on there

Oh okay. At the interview/orientation they said they only give out 2 need based sxholarships & 2 merit based scholarships—but idk if it’s 2 per program or 2 overall

What do you all think of the new online program? I'm having mixed feelings about it. They sold me on it at the interview, but now I'm second guessing the reasoning. The tuition just seems so much to have everything online.

I'm having a tough time deciding between Stanbridge and St. Augustine. Anyone have suggestions/input?

Hey guys, I just received an invitation letter for an interview!!!! CHYEAAA
Any pieces of advice or any some sort of hints they might ask during the interview???
So excited!!

Hey! How did your interview go?
Thanks for checking up! I got the same questions as you, so I feel that I was able to say everything that I wanted to say so just hoping for the best while anxiously waiting now!
