Hi! I applied to St. Augustine in San Marcos for Fall 2018, I was wondering if anyone has heard when they will send out the emails for the interviews? I should also add that I applied for the OTD program, I don't know if they have different decision dates as compared to the MOT program. Thanks!

They just started doing interviews for the Summer cohort so I would hang tight for a bit until they finish!

Thank you! Did you apply for the Summer cohort?

Yeah I did! I interviewed on November 17 and I'm still waiting to hear back!

I applied for the fall MOT at the san marcos campus. I haven't heard anything back except for an email requiring me to choose a secondary campus choice (I chose Austin).

If you dont mind me asking, which campus did you apply for and is it an OTD program?

Hi! Commenting to stay updated--I also applied for the OTD program at San Marcos for Fall 2018

They pushed their deadlines way out (and also typically accept applications well past the deadline), so I haven't applied yet, but my goal is the Fall 2018 OTD. 🙂 I might wait to apply for the Spring start date, though, because I'm just waiting on taking the GRE this month.

Did you not select a secondary campus initially? I'm just curious cause I haven't heard anything at all. Best of luck to you!

Good luck to you! If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats?

They're not the best, but it is what it is!

Undergraduate Degree: B.S in Applied Biological Sciences from Arizona State University
Cumulative GPA: 3.16
Prereq GPA: 3.8
GRE: 150 verbal, 157 quant, 4 aw
Internship hours: 926 -- all under 2 pediatric therapists as I could not find any others
Experience: interned under behavior therapist for 60 hours, substitute teacher for LAUSD (TK-12 & Special Ed.)

Wow! 926 hours?!?! I only have 95 currently and I'll be adding 90 more next semester!

Yea I've been working as an OT aide part time so it's been really helpful with getting hours in. I figure since my overall stats aren't the best I need to bulk up whatever I can.

What are your stats if you don't mind my asking?

That's really nice though! I wish I had that experience.

I'm graduating this spring with:
Major: Kinesiology with emphasis in Pre-PT
Minor: Business Administration
Overall GPA: 3.57
Major GPA: 3.9
Prerequisite GPA: 3.3 (I believe)
GRE: Verbal: 155, Quantitative 158, Analytical Writing 4.5
Internship Hours: 95 so far, with at least 90 to be completed this spring in a Pediatric clinic setting.
Experience: Lead preschool teacher for the past 3 years, creating an inclusive classroom with several kids with an ASD diagnosis. Then prior to that 2 years as a teaching aide.

Oh wow those are awesome stats! Especially your GRE scores. I'm sure you'll get into a few places and have some options.

Did you not select one on their application when you first applied? I'm just curious cause I selected a secondary campus when I applied.

I received an email earlier this week offering me a potential early admission for Spring 2018 for St. Augustine, FL. Although, I won't graduate until May, so I had to decline. I talked to the admissions advisor for FL and they said they are behind and we should be hearing sometime next month. Then the San Marcos advisor responded to my email saying we will hear back in January/February. They said I was considered a highly competitive applicant. So fingers crossed!

I just saw someone post on the DPT page that they were offered an interview for Fall 2018 today. So hopefully that means they will begin the OTD applications soon!

Hi! I applied to the St. Augustine campus for the fall of 2018 and I have an interview mid-February if that helps! I'm sure the other campuses are around the same time-line.

Congrats!! I'll be keeping a close eye out for emails from them then!

Congrats on your interview, one step closer to being accepted! Did they call you to schedule the interview or was it through email?

Hey everyone, just wanted to post a quick update. My application was verified and pushed through to admissions on Dec. 27th and I just got an email inviting me to interview on Feb. 23rd. Hope to see some of you guys there!

Same! I feel like some of the weight has lifted off of my shoulders lol USA is my top choice so I'm hoping everything goes well next month! See you then!!

I got an email for February 16! Anyone know if it's a terrible idea to call and request a reschedule? I know they're on a tight schedule with so much happening but would it hurt to try?

I think it would be okay to give it a shot. Especially since from what I've heard, it's group interviews and not solo, so theres probably a good chance they can squeeze you into another group.

thanks kdom94! I just contacted Emily, fingers crossed!

Is anyone flying in for their interview? I noticed that the distance isn't exactly cheap on uber.

Im interviewing in February as well. I pretty much just applied because it was the only program near me in San Diego. I’m just curious, what makes it your top pick?

It’s actually USA cause of location—I’m from LA and don’t want to have to pick up and move too far—and cost. It’s way cheaper than my local programs like SC and Stanbrige. Hbu?

I live in Ocean Beach, and the idea of not having to relocate is tempting. My problem is that the cost seems too high. I was accepted to both Shenandoah (VA) and Husson (ME), neither of those programs are over 65K, but USA is something like a 90 credit MS program, and close to 90K??? When you factor in the cost of living out here (outrageous....1500/mo in rent for a 1br), I have a hard time justifying it.

Yea I completely understand your position. That's basically where I'm at as well, but I actually didn't even look into schools that far out because I don't want to have to move across the country or even more than a couple states away. I just feel like I'd like to have the option to come home on a weekend, considering how high stress the program is going to be. I only applied to CSUDH (denied), USC (SOOO EXPENSIVE), SJSU (haven't heard back), USA and ATSU (haven't heard back). Ideally I would like to do SJSU because its public and therefore cheaper, but the cost of living in San Jose is pretty crazy as well. At this point I just feel like I need to suck it up and just deal with the loans regardless. Plus, my stats are on the low end in terms of competitiveness so I don't think I'm in the position to be picky.

Have you heard back at all yet?

I'm from here, so the location did make it nice for me as well. However, I liked the set up of the classes and the order they went in. As compared to other schools, I felt it gave me a broader span of the field while also giving me time to focus in a class on my preferred specialty.

How far away are you? I only live about 30 minutes away, so it's a short commute for me.

Just received an interview invite today for the St. Augustine campus as well!

Oh yay! Yea they said I have to check in at 10am I believe hbu? I wonder if we’re in the same group.

Congrats!! What’s your scheduled date and time? Also where are you from?
February 23rd at 9 AM! And I'm from the central Florida area, so the campus is just a few hours away from me 🙂

That's the same time as me! Check-in is at 10 am and then it starts at 10:15 am and runs to about 1 pm! Hopefully we'll be in the same group. But from the email it sounds like we will be as a large group for a majority of the time.

Yea hopefully! It would be nice to know (sort of) someone there! Yea, it seems like a very interesting “interview” setup. Sounds very similar to my freshman orientation for undergrad. At least it will put us a bit more at ease for the actual small group interviews!
