I have a 9 year old, approx. 38lb border collie. What travel arrangements have those of you currently at SGU made to get your pets there? Do the dogs go on the plane with you or do they have to go below with the cargo? I will have to bring her with me from California to Granada, and I'm a bit nervous about how well she will travel and the travel conditions in the cargo area. There's always acepromazine, but I'm not even sure how she will do with that on board. She is already a nervous dog with anxiety problems....hence my concern. Also, probably a stupid question but I'm sure you can buy dog beds in Granada right? With only being able to bring so much with me I'm probably not going to be able to bring her big bed too. Also, does the vet school or hills offer discounts on pet food for students? She's already on heartworm prevention and k9 Advantix (Since 2 years ago she had a horrible reaction to Frontline Plus). If there is anything else of importance I should know, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
are you on the fb group for accepted students? if you post this same thing there, you can get a variety of advice and opinions from upperterm students (much better than what you'll get here)

Thank you for the advice! I will try to add to the group and ask around there!

just ask the flying question and the food question separately for easiest answers :) we do indeed have hills. also - we should talk at some point about your dog because she sounds a lot like mine! are you jan or august?

I was accepted for Fall 2014. I would love to talk with you some time. We have been through our up's and down's with behavioral issues and anxiety. We have even gone to a behavior specialist, and she was at one point taking Xanax, but we stopped because it wasn't really helping her. She's a good girl though and I love her to pieces...so no matter what she's stuck with me! :)
