Anyone else on the standby list at PCO for their traditional program for fall 2018?

Hey, I've also been put on the standby list recently. Have you heard back from PCO yet?

Hey! Did PCO tell you guys how you could be taken off standby? Does this mean their class is full and possibly waiting for accepted students to change their mind/not finish their file requirements?

Hey! No I haven’t, I have emailed them but they have not replied yet so I might give them a call. It’s almost been a month since I’ve been on the list, getting a little worried.

Hi! No PCO did not tell me, they just explained what it meant to be on the standby list. I emailed them asking how to get off it but haven’t gotten a reply yet! Yes, it means that they did not have any offers left to give us. Some people are probably waiting from other schools to get back to them and just holding their spot. I also read a post saying that some students were offered admissions even without taking the OAT but they have to get a score that will be good for the admissions committee and they have up until June 1st to take the OAT. I don’t know what what the chances are to get off the list tbh. Does not look to bright to me, but trying not to lose hope!

Okay, thanks for the response! I'm a student that still has to take my OAT. It's really stressing me out! I'm surprised people would pay the $1,000 deposit just to hold a seat until they hear back from different schools. I guess you have to do what you have to do!

I got into contact with the admissions office and they said that they do not give out specifics regarding numbers/ranking on the standby list. They said that they get a lot of changes happening around end of April to the middle of May so that is when you may hear back from them regarding your status.

Have any of you heard back from Salus regarding your status?
Was put on the Standby list on March 28 and just got the acceptance letter via email earlier this morning! It definitely helps to follow up with the admissions office and, according to their words, "Mix it up with following up. Try to follow up with a phone call one week, and send us an email a few weeks later. It'll show us that you're committed."

When you call, do you just ask for an update on your status? Last time I called I asked if there was anything I can do to improve, and he pretty much told me it’s a waiting game..

The most important thing that I feel helped me was that I submitted a letter of intent to the school to tell them I am committed to attending Salus.

I’ve been following this thread for some time now. My file is still being looked at but I’m not on a stand by/waitlist.

Any updates for others or interpretations for this?

Did you atleast get interviewed?

Did you atleast get interviewed?

No interview. Should have mentioned, sorry. Was late last night.

I’m not holding any attachments to an idea of getting an interview/accepted. It seems too late.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't heard anything from salus since I applied in December. I called multiple times and they keep saying it's under review...

Still waiting... anyone else in the same boat?

They said my file was placed on hold until my spring grades came in and then they would do another committee review. I still haven't heard back though. Anyone get any responses recently from Salus?

Hey do you mind sharing your stats?

I'm still waiting. I will be calling some time point tomorrow.

I’m still waiting too, I was put on their standby list in March tho.

I emailed them and they said that the applicant pool has been very competitive this cycle.🙁

I got an email 2 days ago asking for confirmation to stay on the standby list bc seats have opened up
Then received an acceptance the next day

But i've decided on elsewhere so hopefully this seat should open up! Good luck!

When Is it safe to consider reapplication? Also did they happen to mention how many seats? Thanks!

I would directly email admissions asking them about reapplication. But in my opinion I think by July everyones usually locked into where they're going and there's minimal if any waitlist movement.

No they didn't mention anything about seats! Good luck!

Well, my file is periodically reviewed but a counselor stated it's not likely for this cycle as the class is nearly full. They recommended a higher OAT.

I guess that's a nice no. New cycle is around the corner anyways. Best of luck to everybody this time around.

Did anyone get an email from salus asking to confirm their status?

Everyone that has been put on the standby list, did you get an interview? I've been following up with my application to Salus and UIWTX, but they keep telling me that my application is under review by the Admissions Committee. It's pretty late so I don't have my hopes up, but I have gotten an interview with IAUPR.

Yes I was interviewed on March 1st. I have been waiting since then lol

For those of you on the standby list and have not been taken off, are you planning to reapply for the next year? Also does anyone know how many international seats salus has per year?

Hey, I’m currently on the Standby list as well. The admissions team told me not to reapply until August l because seats have historically opened up until orientation in the past. I may reapply in July because I rather know than to rush.

Sorry this has nothing to do with PCO. Did you by chance ever here back from UIWTX? I guess I am on the same boat as you. I kept emailing them back and forth because I hadn't officially heard anything but they said my application was still under review. I was starting my reapplication process already just waiting for my LOR's. They never officially deny my application so just here wondering.

what I heard this year including last year about optometry school is oversupplied. the applicant is fewer than before but the seats are more than before because optometry school is expanding and new school emerging. in general, the acceptance rate is over 70%.

I received my acceptance email on Wednesday.

Congrats on your acceptance! I was placed on the standby list on March and didn't hear anything back yet. I was wondering if you can tell me your stats and when you were put on the standby list. I just want to get an idea of how they give out acceptances to the standby list.

Anyone who was placed on standby last round.. apply again and heard back??
