Bumpity. I'll start the early morning chatter. I'm guessing no one hears anything until next week. But, we might as well be neurotic for the next couple of days 🙂

^ 200th post on this thread!

Why would someone go on so many interviews, especially with the number of acceptances!

Prospects for $$$$? I'd just want to see all those schools in person. Twould Be an awesome year of traveling.

I think I have a threshold with the number of interviews I can go on before I want to kill myself...

Just wrote my withdrawal email and hit the send button. Hardest one so far....only 3 more to go...eeek!!!!! Best of luck guys

👍👍👍👍👍

True. I did 12 and was pretty poor at the end of the process....slash exhausted. Although, if Harvard, Yale, UCSF, or Chicago hadn't rejected me, I think I would have gone regardless.

Thank god for crashing with friends though, or I'd be eating ramen noodles for lunch today from hotel bills.

Hotels? I always stayed w/ students and/or went that day (most places were near tri-state area). As for the interviews, I started cancelling toward the end... that being said, Stanford/UCSF was perfect timing b/c my SO was out on business and we hit up Tahoe after 🙂

It's coming down to the final hours. Stanford has a $100 deposit due tomorrow for all accepted students. I wonder how many people don't submit the deposit without officially withdrawing. Maybe the admissions people are waiting to auto-reject those folks.

Haha I don't think they're quite that harsh at Stanford 🙂

And there should only be about 50-86 people doing that. I decided that I'm gonna give Greg or Arturo a call next week if I don't hear anything by Friday.

I will call them too! Based on last year's thread, there's significant waitlist movement right after the 15th, and then it stops for about a month.

yeah I noticed that too.

it's times like these when I rock out to 80s hair bands...

iiittt's the finaaaaaal coooouunnnnntdown!

Wow, very odd to see that I'm being mentioned in this thread. Hi 🙂 I'm certainly not sky-high with stats, but I had some pretty cool extracurriculars that I did in undergrad without realizing that it would make me a unique applicant for med school. Goes to show there's more to the process than just numbers.

I've updated my profile if anyone's interested.

And yep, financial aid was important, and I was accepted to schools in an order that did not reflect my preferences for attending--hence, the sheer number of interviews. Sigh, my pocketbook... but worth it in the end.

Withdrawing from Stanford was particularly painful, and I hope someone here gets the chance to go! I just visited the new building and it ROCKS (no nap pods though--'twas a myth).

:hello:

What a coinkidink that you'd read this thread!

zOMG! What are the chances of some weekend news?

I'd say there's potential. Last year, May 15th was a Friday and people found out over the weekend.

Gosh, I should have called Arturo and begged. Haha, he was awesome...I definitely could shoot the breeze with him over the phone.

"thanks for updating my app, Arturo. Let's grab a beer."

Haha, I thought Arturo was hysterical in a good way. He fits into my larger caricature of the admissions office there.

Isn't it really early on the West Coast?!?

Yes, it is really early, but I couldn't sleep all that well haha. Damn I wish I hadn't got my hopes up.

I'm gonna predict phone calls (if there are going to be phone calls) for Monday? maybe?

I was having wait list dreams. And a random dream that I was on a subway in china.

7 AM on a Saturday? Are you mad man?

A call today. Would probably be...the best weekend present ever.

It'd be the best year present. To think it's been over a year since I took the MCAT, what a loooong process.

Yup! Me too. March I think I took it. Or May? It all blends together.

Let's go beat up some dolphins today.

Well ... I know I will be staring at my caller ID for the next 72 hrs...

Interesting. That person decides on Sinai over Stanford. *looks at mdeast*

Haha yes. I've talked with a similar person extensively about this to prepare myself for being put in a similar situation.

I'm still here aren't I? 🙂

so..has anyone sent financial aid stuff in?

I think we were told explicitly not to do this. But I did add them on my NeedAccess and FAFSA so they have those forms. Just will need to express them my tax returns should the opportunity present itself. Gosh, I gotta get my phone away from me this weekend to keep myself occupied.

does Stanford (or any school for that matter) have any events for accepted wait listees as a way to see the school again? Or are we just assumed to come based on our decision to remain on the wait list?

"Waitlist revisit weekend"

Haha. No they don't. And I don't think any other school does either. You have usually a week to decide. But, they hope you'll do it on the spot.

now that it's may 15th...every time i see this thread bumped, i'm going to think one of you guys is posting about getting the call!

:luck: everyone!

Haha I know. There's so many of us on here, I think statistically one of us has to get in.

holy crap, busy morning in waitlist land. I went to the farmers market and for a bike ride instead of worrying, and then just ended up worrying anyways.

Haha, I just went for a 10 mile run, got funnel cake at the Regatta in Philly today, came back to a call-less cell phone. Haha, so nerve-wracking!

Arturo let me know today that an additional LOR was added to my file...so maybe they are working today?

They're probably working today processing those that had accepted the offer. Tomorrow will be interesting...

nice! how quick is the recovery time for those things now?

You have to wear eye shields at night for 2 weeks to avoid scratching your eyes and you must use antibiotic eyedrops for 2 weeks. After that, you're done!
