Im having a hard time finding a place to volunteer in the pharmacy so I can get work experience. Do you guys suggest getting a pharm tech license then working as a pharmtech? Also, what are the steps to getting a pharmtech lisc. I know i have to pass the test, but do i need anything else? I live in California. Thanks

You take the PTCB test then wait for the result sent to you then download an application from california state board of pharmacy then take a fingerprint live scan then send all required documents. That's it. 😉

Do I need any hands on experiences or can I just pass the test and start working as a pharm tech?

Hopefully you are good in math. I know about retail and hospital pharmacy. I get a good study guide. I had no experience in pharmacy and I was able to pass PTCB on the try.

Look here at this website:

Locate the pharmacy technician license.

Try the following books to review before the test.
Certification Exam Review for The Pharmacy Technician (2nd Edition)

This is good book it is written by the President of National Pharmacy technician association based in Texas.

Sterile Products and Aseptic Techniques for the Pharmacy Technician (2nd Edition)

These are the two books that I used to pass this test.

The part about getting a job is the most challenging aspect. Passing the test getting certified and licensed is the easy part.

This. It took me 2 whole months of working 30+ hours a week as a front store associate to get my foot in the door for pharmacy technician.
