successful applicant with career goal of owning private practice?

Hello! I am currently trying to brainstorm for my personal statement, my career goal is to owning a private practice. However, I feel like vet school are more looking for applicants with special career goal such as being a food animal vet or specialist that can contribute to One Health in a more obvious way. It will be great if anyone with the same career goal don't mind sharing their thoughts!

Most schools are looking for diverse classes, including people who want to do GP work or own clinics. They generally just want you to have experienced different fields within the veterinary degree.

If that's your goal, then talk about it! I've always felt very strongly about going into small animal GP/private practice and have intentions of ownership someday. It's been a little while so I don't remember if I actually mentioned the ownership aspect of it any in my PS, but I talked a lot about my life experiences that inspired me to do this, and the kind of impact I hope to have as a veterinarian.

Around 60 to 65% of graduates go into GP and schools know this. So definitely do not be shy if that is your goal!! There need to GPs that funnel specialty cases to the specialists after all

I work in private practice, but we are specifically a low cost, ONE HEALTH model clinic. Private practice helps the one health movement more than a lot of people think. Private practice GP perform things like vaccines, internal parasite prevention, external parasite prevention, etc. A lot of these things can be zoonotic, therefore by preventing these things, we are contributing to one health in a way!
