I decided to take a Macroecon this semester because I thought it would be interesting, but as of right now I have a B+ and probably will finish with that. At this point, I can't really afford to get any unnecessary B's. This class is not a requirement for my major or any of the schools as far as I know, just a recommended class by OHSU.

Would it be frowned upon to switch this class to pass/fail to avoid a B+? Or will dental schools assume that I took it pass fail because I was going to get a much worse grade?

If you're deep enough into your academic career, one more B+ isn't likely to kill your GPA. If you've got a B+, couldn't you ante up and make the effort to bump it to an A by semester's end? I personally wouldn't switch the class to P/F, but that's just my belief. I know another B wouldn't make or break my application.

I took Molecular and Cellular Bio 2 pass/fail. If you look at my transcript it looks like I did it to avoid a bad grade. I have not been asked about it once in interviews!

It's not necessarily that the B+ will kill my GPA, but it will affect my positive trend. I have a 3.44 as of this cycle, but my GPA has arround 3.9 for the past 4 semesters. If I get a B+, then that wouldn't allow me a lot of wiggle room to maintain that trend. (I haven't gotten a B since sophomore year).

My course load other than Macroecon is pretty tough for me, with three sciences and a spanish class, such that I am not sure I could dedicate adequate time to Econ without jeopardizing some of the grades for my other classes. Would you still recommend that I just work as hard as I can and not worry about a B+? Because taking a course pass/fail could be interpreted more poorly than the affect it would have on my trend/GPA?

Having some classes with P/NP on our transcript will not affect our chance of getting into a dental school (in my opinion).
