Let me state my previous thought in a different manner:

You have a moral obligation to report this to the state medical board.

Which aspect? How can I prove anything I say?My former fellow does not want to get involved. I don't have the money to litigate. I don't want my career ruined. What if they make up something about me?They were trying to discret me after I quit saying I don't want to do things that are good for the patient (which was a massive lie - I took care of just about everything! Even when patients would call, I would have to call them back since attending didn't want to deal with them, etc, I would be blamed for everything, just like my former co-fellow was), I was called a "princess" and that I was "spoiled"and "didn't want to work hard," etc. I have no doubt they will try to portray a picture of me that's a lie but still - i have no one to back me up.

I'm a recent grad, attendings are established.
Right now I'm the "little guy" sort of speak.
And what would the medical board do?Probably nothing.
 
medical boards would probably do nothing.... but register that you might be one of several who have, over the years, complained about this place, and there may be future ones.

if you are that concerned, then wait a year, finish your new fellowship, and then file your complaint.

and hopefully you will not be unhappy with the new place, because then we may start to worry that the issue is not with the program you are in, but maybe with, um, you.... 😱

Yes that is my plan - wait until I finish and then go from there.

An attorney could help you formulate the argument that you were part of a hostile work environment that was abusive, harassing, and discriminatory. This led you to have to quit which will decrease your future earning potential and cause you to lose income now and in the future. Statements they’ve made to you are evidence of this. If you’re in a single party wiretapping consent state for recording audio you can always consider recording any phone or in person discussions that you are party to to prove things that were said if needed without telling the other party you’re recording. This law is state specific.

Well again the problem is that I have a better position, which will likely allow me to earn more not less in a better environment and overall significantly better prospects.If anyhting, their inappropriate behavior led me to quit which allowed me a far better opportunity than if I were to stay in that place.

anyway it's time for you to let this go. You made the mistake by joining this private practice "fellowship" instead of an ACGME fellowship. Live and learn and move on. I can say I am really not surprised by your description of this "fellowship" a lot of these private practice "fellowships" are just like what you describe. You have been griping about things for so long on here now its time to move on with your life

Being a Christian doesn't mean not pursuing righteous causes or seeking justice - I wouldn't make up anything to try to make a "case"- I would only pursue things that are true. That's what that means.
 
Guys, how about helping OP instead of trying to hurt other people, namely her former employer.

I am being told that I have to pay over $1,000 for the tail - the paycheck is essentially $1700 or so. They are asking me to work for free. Firm email to them coming right up. Unbelievable. And I have it in writing that the tail is covered.
 
Do not listen to anyone but me...These people are not screwing around, so why should you? Stick up for yourself now, bc cowering now will make you more susceptible to doing it again in the future.

1. Do NOT pay the money.
2. Mail them through snail mail approx 5-10 pics printed on 8x10 paper of yourself in various poses...(A) Put a noose around your neck and take a pic of you pretending to be hanged and dead. Have someone take the pic for you and make sure tongue is hanging out to the side. (B) Lay on the ground in front of a car and cover yourself in fake blood. Take pic. Use sidewalk chalk and draw an outline around your body on the ground, and next pic is just the car and the chalk outline. (C) Lay on ground and take a pic of yourself being strangled by yourself. Wear a white tshirt. Write "Epstein Pain Fellow" on it with a magic marker.

In the envelope with these pics make sure you put a dirty sock in there to make it even more confusing and 3rd level intrigue.

These guys are being fools, so you should too...

Nothing like that in the contract. And htey are not paying me anything else nor am I required to pay anything else. It's all in the "exit" paperwork. Not to mention that the clause states that if agreement, the contract can be broken. I'm good in that front.

Well I think it's super inappropriate what was done. But I guess I'll let Divine justice take care of this one. I am not surprised that they haven't found anyone yet for the next year. They are reaping what they sow.

Yes I know that,I am going back to my attending position and I'll be making a good chunk of change but it's the principle not the monetary amount really. They are telling me - their excuse - is that fellows who complete the "fellowship" get the tail covered otherwise they don't.
I mean that's BS. It should make no difference and not what I was told. Further as a fellow the attending makes the decisions not the fellow.
I realize that ACGME plays no role and a complaint cant be made to ACGME but they have the posting for the "fellowship" posted again - how can I report this? I feel that they are dishonest in what they say, and a very toxic environment.

Oh and btw guys - thank you for all the advice. 🙂 It was indeed taken in and much appreciated.

Well there is a clause in the contract that I can't say anything negative about the practice. Interestingly enough the clause also states that THEY won't say negative things about me! Yet they belittled and attacked me, and said completely unrelated things to performance - you are a princess, you are spoiled, don't know how long you have been here in the US, questions about my "accent", the practice manager initially laughed at my small size when i asked for extra small scrubs, etc.
So I won't pick a fight with them for sure.

Well I strive for peace. And again - I have noticed that they have had increasingly more and more difficulty filling the fellowship - the last candidate they interviewed had been in practice over 40 years. They generally have "fellows" who are in their 40's, 50's, etc.
They are still recruiting for 2020. Says enough.
 
You're screwing around too much with this...Take my advice and mail them an envelope full of finely ground and unscented talcum powder. Mix in a few grains of garlic and onion powder, and grind up an old bike tire into shreds and put a few small grains of old rubber in the powder. This will add a slightly odd smell.

They'll think it is anthrax or ricin and you're gonna be very satisfied with this.

Otherwise just move on with your life and forget about them.

I am thinking that I want to report the misbehavior here. I know it's a non-ACGME "fellowship" but it is substandard even by those levels. It's also listed on the PM&R board which I don't think is appropriate. Do I write the APM&R board? Do I write the state?
 
Tell your friends to do accredited fellowships. That’s probably the most helpful thing you can do.
 
Move on with your life (after you levy unwanted groping charges against them).

You need to be able to concisely define the charge/complaint. Also, how did you try to resolve your differences?

The first thing apm&r will do is send a letter to the fellowship director and say that you are making this complaint and ask them to respond. Is that what you want?

Nope. There is no talking to these people. It is a toxic environment where the guy would come in mad daily, would curse, avoid talking to patients he did not like, throw things when angry, not teach anything - the only "teaching"would be moving his finger for needle placement, a toxic environment where there wold be constant intimidation, no lectures, no conferences, no affiliation with anything, no grand rounds, no curriculum, no objectives, no goals, blaming "fellows" all the time and attacking them, etc.

When I posed my complaints, they tried to harm me professionally, attacked me based on my ehtnicity/race, accent, etc, etc. And of course when I complained aobut the blurring of lines between fellow/attending role (ie - wanting me to work as an attening when it's supposed to be a fellowship), screwing me out of tail coverage, etc.

There is nothing for me to talk to them about.
