Some schools that I applied to will not accept my AP or CLEP credit for English composition.

Will this hurt my chances of acceptance or should I just expect to be required to do an English composition class before I start?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on the school, but most will simply require that you fulfill it before matriculation.

Pretty much this.

Most schools are up front in interviews. You can get accepted even if you don't have all the pre-requisites completed, however they must be completed before matriculation and you had to have a decent grade.
