Temple?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am interviewing at Temple on the 31st. Hopefully they will like me! (It will be my second interview). It does seem strange that they would interview so many people to fill a wait list, but they are competing with schools in the general area.

anybody interview mid-December? Any news? I am afraid to call and hear bad news...

I wouldn't worry about it. Temple's waitlist moves pretty fast. Just do the absolute best that you can!

Do they email you that a decision has been made, or should I check the website on Fridays or something? I realize I will likely have to wait a few weeks, they did say at my interview that they are kinda backed up, but I don't remember how they notify you. Do they only email acceptances and snail the rest?? Thanks guys!

Hey guys, I'm a 1st year temple student and had my interview in late January. They did tell me it was most likely for a waitlist spot (except if they really love you) because they don't over offer acceptances. From what I understand they give out offers close to the number of spots available and then pull from the waitlist as spots open. So I think there is quite a bit of waitlist movement. I ended up getting waitlisted and then pulled off in May around the AMCAS drop deadline. So if you think you are interested in Temple don't be discouraged about the waitlist stuff. By the way, I love this school!!! But good luck at whatever schools you guys choose to attend!

I've been complete since 10/10 and I just checked my status page after reading this thread and it looks like I've been invited for an interview. Still havent received an e-mail saying so though.

If we are interviewing for just wait list spots I'm thinking about declining my interview offer. To be honest, im not too thrilled with this invite.

I just emailed Temple and withdrew my application and declined my interview offer. I hope that it goes to one of you who are anxiously waiting to hear from this school. Best of luck!

aaj I see you have withdrawn from Temple and Drexel so where are you going... I was looking forward having class with you.... good luck I hope your happy at your choice....

Anyone interview in late November and hear a decision?

Anyone interview in late November and hear a decision?

I interviewed in late November and have yet to recieve a decision. I called last week, and they said "no decision has been made". I wonder, if being waitlisted is the best possible outcome at this point, given the fact that they are now only interviewing for the waitlist positions.

they emailed me in 3 weeks I got in! I interviewed mid Oct. Have you called them? good luck

The word i've heard around school is that they got a whole lot of applicants this year (several thousand more than they usually recieve). But traditionally there are a lot of people who get in off of the waiting list, I was and I interviewed in April. Good luck to those of you still waiting to hear back.

so it site has been updated...looks like I will get a reply via snail mail....not good..

Hi, when did you interview? Are you an in-state resident? When did your status page change? Thank you.

i interviewed mid-decemeber, OOS

Anyone else interview in Novembers and have yet to hear back from Temple?:scared:

This process is truly making me neurotic...if someone could post exactly how they were notified by Temple post-interview, it would be awesome! I'm assuming they send you a happy email if they accept you, but since I interviewed after they switched over to waitlisting I'm wondering how I will be notified. Will I get an email saying that they made a decision? If I do, do they say what the decision is or just that one has been mailed? Or do they just mail it without notifying you (need to let mom know she has to be on the lookout for this, as all my mail goes to her house). I know they meet on Fridays to discuss files...when would be the best time to status-page stalk to find out anything?? Ok, I feel slightly better now...

I saw it first on my status page and then I got an e-mail I have never received anything snail mail. I hope this helps and good luck... it Temple your first choice??

I really, really liked Temple, but after the last disappointment that I had I'm trying not to get my heart set on it until I find out my fate. I could definitely see myself being happy there, it meets all the criteria I had for a school I would want to attend, so right now I am really hoping for a waitlist notification. Then fate can do it's thing!

I hear ya it happened to me too... I have 4 acpt I am holding and 3 more interviews in Feb. so I am not sure where I am going yet. I really like 2 of my Feb interviews If I get into either of those I will withdraw my Temple. I do like Temple a lot.. I don't want to get my hopes up too high I AM going to Med school... good luck

I'm still under review .. and have been since 10/22!! TEMPLE what the HECK are ya waiting for?

maybe they want to avoid rejecting us and instead to weed us out by reviewing us until we withdraw .. can't .. take .. pressure ...

I called 2 weeks ago to check my status post interview, I interviewed in late November, and they said 'no decision has been made.' Does anybody know if Temple defers making a final decision applicants and makes a decision later on in the cycle? From what I have read on SDN it seems like they have a very fast turn around time for both acceptances and waitlists.

I was just there a few weeks ago, and the lady was very apologetic when she told us it 'might take awhile' to hear a decision post-interview...then she elaborated by saying it might take up to four weeks! That's nothin'! I think a call might be in order...I wouldn't worry, maybe your interviewer is notorious for not submitting evaluations or something, but I would at least check up on it. It seems like you should have heard something by now! G'luck :luck:

So I checked my application status yesterday and now, instead of "under review", it says "correspondence mailed." Is this just a nice way of saying rejected?

😕EvilAngelfish

Hahahaha. Mine still says 'Under Review'. AMCAS 2009 here we come...

you and me both!

jeeze, they must have turned our applications into paper airplanes or something, because they sure as *$#@ cannot be reviewing them still!

I interviewed 1/9 and monday I received my congratulations you are on the waitlist letter. That was fast! They said 3 weeks so I wasn't expecting anything til thurs/friday. Anyway does anyone know if its ranked or how it works?

I just had my Temple interview yesterday. I asked a lot of questions about this (because I was annoyed at the waitlist-only issue like you guys). She said that right now the class of 180 is full. I asked if they usually accept about 2x the class size and she said "oh, at least" implying that they will offer a fair number more than 360 acceptances. From here on out, they will only be making offers as people withdraw their acceptances. She explained that everyone gets a score (of sorts), and the score for getting an acceptance is higher now than it was in the fall. Someone asked whether people who are waitlisted now will be put in the same pool as people who were waitlisted in the fall, and she said that people who are waitlisted now (that would have been accepted in the fall had they interviewed earlier) will be pulled first. I hope that helps answer some questions. Everyone I talked to seemed to agree that there is a lot of waitlist movement.

You stated that the admissions representative said, "...the score for getting an acceptance is higher now than it was in the fall." Is that referring specifically to being offered an outright acceptance to the school right now at this very point in time? Or does it refer to the score needed to make the cut to be placed on a waitlist that could potentially lead to an acceptance? If the latter is true then that means that overall it is going to be more difficult to be waitlisted and accepted for applicants at this point onward. If they do in-fact only offer acceptances to people at this point, as individual slots open up and as people withdraw, then I suspect there will be a lot more movement and activity after March, when a lot of the non-rolling schools offer acceptances. Thank you very much for this information, it has certainly clarified a lot of questions.

She was referring to being offered an outright acceptance at this point in time. In other words, let's say you needed a 12 to be offered an acceptance in November. You would need a 15 to be offered an acceptance today, and a 12 would get you waitlisted. (I don't know what their system is or how it works, I'm just making up numbers.)

I didn't ask whether that meant exceptional candidates were still getting offers even though the class is full, but based on what others have said (I think in this thread), it sounds like it can happen.

Thank you very much for this information, it has certainly clarified a lot of questions.

Glad I could help. Good luck to us all! 🙂

Ah! Correspondence was mailed to my preferred mailing address! Hopefully it gets here soon, and c'mon waitlist! I interviewed on Jan 17, so that was a pretty fast decision. I hope it's a good thing!

I checked my status page yesterday, as someone posted that they got a waitlist in the mail, and it still said under review. I checked today after 5, and it said correspondence mailed! I hope they already mailed it so that I get it today or tomorrow...my interview wasn't the best, but it was just different from the others I've had so who knows? I'm kinda expecting a rejection, but if I get a waitlist I'll be pumped! Just to not be rejected post-interview twice in a row! I'll post up here when I get the letter and what the outcome was...wish me luck! :luck:

i submitted my secondary the same day it came out and i still haven't heard from them....
