How many of you are applying to Lamar University or Texas Tech?
I applied early admission to Texas Tech.
Are those the only 2 schools you are applying to?
I don't know much abut Tech's program but since they don't require LORs or personal statements, it makes me wonder. Do you know much about it?
Hello,
I am a 3rd year AuD student at Texas Tech.
I will let you know that I found the lack of a SOI or LOR to be somewhat jarring for the program as well, however when I hear about what some programs in other locations in the country do with regards to how severe they are in terms of academic dismissal, etc., I am pleased that the vast majority of your 'score' with regards to Tech comes from your phone interview.
In truth, SOIs are fairly purposeless as the majority of programs do not have a very strong foundation for Audiology, undergrad-wise, so your statement would likely lack emphasis.
The program is very clinically-oriented and therefore it may be why LORs are not considered as part of the application packet. There has never been a very significant reason as to why this was absent from the application. GREs and the phone interview, however, are the most considered aspects of the application.
If you have any questions, I have found SDN useful for some particularly fringe information. You may FPM me here and I can provide an e-mail to guarantee better communication, though I will be out and about by the time you all potentially get in.
If the few students I've mentored from Texas Tech are any indication of the level of their program, then it would be a very good program. The students I have mentored from there have been above average on their skill sets in the externship between their 2nd and 3rd years.I applied early to Texas Tech. But I really have no idea about their program. Their website isn't very easy to navigate.

I'm quite nervous about it, I have it an hour after my final exam. I hope the questions aren't too hard to answer.I'm scheduled for an interview with them as well!
thank you!!! I wish I knew what types of questions they would ask :/It's so exciting! I'm only a little nervous because I haven't been on that side of an interview since about 3 years ago. I'm usually the one conducting the interviews at my current job! I've heard there are tons of tips online. Valerie, the career center at my school lets you schedule mock interviews to practice. You might see if that is an option.
lol i had the interview on Monday as well. They only asked the common general questions, but still i messed it up. i really don't know what parameters they use to select the students. This is a 4 years doctorate program and they are conducting phone interview. Really????????Okay I'm not the only one, I thought I did pretty bad.

I know what's going to be my result, this is so frustrating. I am not that good at phone interviews, but i am good at personal interviews. I really don't know what other graduate program i should apply for since my degree is in Audiology and speech pathology.
thank youThis is a useful tool. http://www.asha.org/edfind/
I have an interview with UT-Dallas scheduled. I'm nervous about this interview since I didn't do well in the interview with Texas Tech.
I have searched for tips on the internet but mainly I'm preparing for this interview by scheduling a mock interview with my school's career center and practicing with my work supervisor. Hopefully it helps!
As someone who was not accepted early, but deferred... Sorry- but THANKS, you opened up a spot! Good luck with Lamar!!!!I heard back from Tech and I was accepted for early admissions (HELL YES)....However I had to decline (UGH) do to my future husbands job placement! I was bummed, now waiting for Lamar to hear back from. The wait is SOOO nerve wracking!
Does anyone who got an interview with UT Dallas know when their interview date is?
My interview with UTD is March 4th.
CongratsI got an email from Tech today and I was accepted!
Yes tha's the letter i am talking about. Did you call them ?I also got that letter- but I thought it said they were just holding us until regular admission, kind of like deferring us so they could compare to the rest of the applicants? I don't think anyone has heard back. I think I am going to call them on Monday.
I went in person.Did you have a Skype interview or an in person interview?
