Isn't changing school preference only valid when the match goes into effect later on? hehe i'm confused.

Yes, I was just talking about the update change when I've changed the order of my preferences 5 different times, and everytime the update date changes a couple of days later. However, the prefernces that I list do not matter to anyone but me until match day.

so i was looking thru my MSAR..(07-08)

Bachelor's Degree ....................... Sci/Math Majors
TAMU: 100% ....................... 34%
TTech: 53% ....................... 41%
UTMB: 100% ....................... 90%
UTH: 61% ....................... 48%
UTSA: 58% ....................... 40%
UTSW: 91% ....................... 62%
Baylor: 100% ....................... 74%

Crapshoot: 100%

best of luck to everyone!! :luck:

My last update was 11/6/06.

Who knows what it means, but it's just another thing to add to the list of what to think about.

I'm really hoping for good news, but even after Nov. 15th I'm going to have a hard time with my preferences. I keep going back and forth between schools and I don't know if I'll be able to visit them again before preferences are due being that I am in Pennsylvania 😡 .

My last master file update was 11/10/06.

Geez, one more thing for me to get all neurotic about.

My LMFU is 10/04/06. I hope this doesn't mean they took one look at my app and threw it into the waitlist bin...

Come ooooon med school!

So is there some way that acceptances will show up on the TMDSAS website or is it just individual offers thru snailmail/email?

I'm curious about this too. It would be super sweet if TMDSAS showed it!

So who all is calling for a decision on Wednesday??

So who all is calling for a decision on Wednesday??

Not me. If I were sitting in that admissions office, I would be yelling at the phone to shut up. I try to spare the secretaries or whoever.

If it makes you feel better, we are all just as insane.

If we were well adjusted, we would not be applying to medical school. We would have majored in something sensible like Accounting or education, gotten engaged our junior year of college, married by our senior year, and led lives just like normal people do.

I resemble this remark all too well. I majored in accounting, got engaged my junior year, and got married just before my senior year. Here I am, umpteen years later, still married, tryiing to get into medical school. People who major in accounting are NOT, repeat, NOT well adjusted!!

WERD!

got verified on 10/18, checked TCOM status today and they said I have been selected for interview. wo hooo. they will call me later. One question, How long after the TCOM invitation until I get other invitations from other schools? thanks ahead.

Anyone think some of the Texas schools will call on the 15th?

Do we need to send TMDSAS our transcripts if we took some classes this past summer and for this fall semester after the semester is over?

So who all is calling for a decision on Wednesday??

The way I figure it, when they're good and ready to tell me something they'll tell me, and up until that moment I could descend on their office with stone tablets instructing them to release information and they still wouldn't. No use bugging the poor secretaries.

I agree. Just tough it out and wait for it, there's no need to bombard the office and annoy the secretaries.

I called and found out how they are going to give out the acceptances for the schools that I interviewed at

1) TCOM--> Snail Mail, mailed out on the 15th. However can check status page

2) Texas A&M--> Snail Mail, mailed out on the 15th

3) UTHSCSA--> Snail Mail, mailed out on the 15th.

So by that, it seems that we would not get our letters of acceptances until the 17th-18th of November.

I would also think that the LMFU means something if you have tracked its changes. Mine says 10/6/06; however my last interview was 8/14/06. I never tracked the LMFU until now. So I have no clue what any of this means, I am just hoping for the best this week. Good luck to everyone.

I am hyper with anticipation and there are days to go.

Okay - let's just say that I'm fairly certain that the LMFU means a schools changed your status.

But I don't want to get anyone in trouble for telling me that :scared:

Hehe...and is it good or bad?

I interviewed this weekend at Southwestern. Does anyone know when their admissions committee actually meets? My status on their page has changed from "Scheduled to Interview" to "Interviewed." I'm applying as an OOS so I was told by Dr. Parker that we could hear back at any time. Also, for any other OOS person that interviewed, did you see a status change on the web before you got your letter? Thanks in advance.

P.S. What does LMFU stand for?

LMFU = Last Master File Update

So basically what you are alluding to is that if your LMFU has a date after an interview that you probably are accepted. Since Texas schools will not reject or waitlist you during this period.

There could be some sort of status that means you have to wait for the match, like not accepted for rolling admission, but not rejected either.

Well it's probably just wishful thinking on my part since my LMFU is 9/14

I wouldn't think that they would change your status on TMDSAS if they were waiting for the match, b/c your status hasn't changed. Another thing that could be responsible for the LMFU changing is interview invites.

On another note, does anyone know how many applicants the Texas schools are planning on accepting during rolling admissions? I guess we could start a list. I'll start with what Dr. Jones told us at San Antonio

UT San Antonio They will try to fil 1/2 of the class with rolling admissions.

I was informed that UT-Houston won't be giving out a lot of acceptance early on. This was from Dr. Kellaway. 🙁

:scared:

I got the impression from my interviews (UTH, UTMB, UTSW) that they were trying to fill if not their entire class with rolling admissions, then most of it. Of course (and this is my interpretation here), they're going to have to err on the side of caution and under-admit with rolling to make sure they don't over-enroll in the end. Then they'll fill the rest of the spots with the match.

I was told by my interviewer.... an admissions committee chair... that UTMB will try to fill their class by rolling admissions. He didn't just offer up this info, it was a specific question I asked.

UTMB Galveston Will try to fill class by rolling admission.
UT San Antonio They will try to fil 1/2 of the class with rolling admissions.

TCOM really stressed that rolling admission offers would only be given to "selected" applicants and that those not offered a spot really should not worry. They also said they did not like this new system.

So it was my impression they weren't planning on offering too many spots early on.

Thanks for the info. now I know not to get my hopes up for the 15th. Those are the 3 exact same schools I interviewed at. Waiting those extra few days is a killer though. as if waiting for the 15th wasn't bad enough. AUGH!

Filo said the same thing when I interviewed at A&M. Also, I directly asked the question at Tech, and got a direct answer, listed below:

UTMB Galveston Will try to fill class by rolling admission.
UT San Antonio They will try to fil 1/2 of the class with rolling admissions.
Texas A&M Will try to fill their class by Rolling admission
Texas Tech Will use rolling admissions only to recruit top applicants.

Snail Mail in TX is pretty fast (1 day to anywhere in TX, from anywhere in TX generally works) so if they are truly mailing the offers out on the 15th, and they get to the post office/picked up on the 15th, then we Texans should hear by the 16th. Certainly by Friday, so that we can either party or mope over this coming weekend.

Now we need someone to call for UTMB 😉

And for those of us living out of state... i.e. Pennsylvania.... this is going to be rough reading all the posts for those receiving mail Friday/Monday!!😡

Has anyone decided how they are preferencing their schools.... or are people waiting until after the long awaited 15th?

I absolutely loved all three I interviewed at... UTMB, UTSA, and TCOM... and I have pros and cons to them all. I've posted before that I have no idea what I'm doing yet I am just curious to see where others are in the process.

So it was my impression they weren't planning on offering too many spots early on.

Two weeks ago, a woman from the office of admissions at TCOM came and talked at my university. She said that TCOM was going to give offers to its "top 100" applicants and that they didn't want to fill all of their class with pre-match offers.

I'm finished interviewing, and I have had a hard time figuring out a preference order as well. Today I stared at the tmdsas preference page and realized I wasn't ready to put down an order. But I did anyways. It helped to see a list, even if it might not be the finalized version. It's a lot easier to see something that's out of order rather than coming up with one from scratch...
My original plan was to see what, if any, pre-match offers I received and go from there- cross each bridge as it came. Unfortunately, it sounds like the med schools are out to foil my plan by the means of not trying to completely fill their classes.

So all things aside, I have no idea how to go about this either. 🙂

Hmm... Texas Tech in El Paso said they would try to fill 1/2 from pre-match offers. Not sure what to make of the different responses.
