How & when did you hear?
In case that sounds like a silly question, I'm waiting until the very last minute to buy two separate round trip tickets from Boston -- to San Antonio on the 14th and to HOU for Galveston on the 18th. UTH hasn't shown any interest in me yet, but if they were to do so after I buy these tickets, I'll be... well... what can I be but grateful, right? I'll be gratefully impoverished. 🙄

Yeah I heard from SA and Galv and am flying down for the 11th and 14th.... but Houston... which I REALLY want I'm getting no love from. My family lives there and I loved my nursing externship at the Texas Med Center... I hope I didn't get passed by 🙁

Me niether...it is probably my top MD school. I think they are kind of batching them together by date, which would make sense. One of my friends heard from UTHSCSA last week and applied exactly a week before me (mine verfied-sent by TMDSAS 7/5)....so perhaps we will hear Monday or Tuesday? 😱

I was verified 6/21 (no LOR yet though) and I think Jota was verified before that. 🙁

Heard Galveston 7/12 for interview on 8/11.
Heard San Antonio 7/25 for interview on 8/14.

No LORs when I got the invites, but they are there now.

I think so too, I got an invite from UTSW VERY quickly after I submitted my secondary. I mean, I'm glad to get an interview, but kinda bummed out that it doesn't mean as much...

Yeah when an adcom guy from UTSW came and spoke at my school in april, he said if you have over a 3.6 overall GPA and at least 30 on the MCAT you automatically get an interview.

Not true. I have both those stats and haven't gotten an interview.

I think its actually 3.6 and 31 (these were the cutoff numbers 2 years ago)...so if you have a 30, you might have just missed it. 😳

I randomly heard from Tech today... I don't understand why on a Sat, but oh well.... anyone have thoughts on the best place to fly into for the Lubbock interviews? From DFW it is a 5 hr drive - does anyone else have a closer large airport? The flight into Lubbock is running $1000!!!

I'm about to sign up for an El Paso interview..... the El Paso flight is less than half the cost of the Lubbock flight and takes only two legs. There just aren't as many dates to choose from...

Oh really??? That's good news for me. That might explain why they say that they don't have my damn LORs... I really want to go there, darn it. GIVE ME AN INTERVIEW!!!

Do they require LORs for an interview? If not, then I guess they just hate me. 🙁

I know they had me listed as "incomplete" on their status page until my LORs from TMDSAS showed up. So I would guess that the answer is "yes". But that's just a guess. My status when to "complete" and then just today to "selected for interview".

Tech seemed disorganized to me. I interviewed everywhere in the state and they claimed they still did not have one of my letters and hence my application was incomplete. They said the later was likely in a box and had not been scanned and that they would get around to it. After a month or so I got annoyed and shot an email to an admissions dean (in September) and she replied with an invite an hour later (very helpful and nice). My advice is to be vigilant.

wow, thats expensive! Have you checked on expedia? I was looking for tickets to Lubbock and expedia was at least half the price of other services. It would cost me $219 round trip from College Station to Lubbock compared to $450 that I was finding at other sites.

Yeah - I'm checking there, they are a little cheaper - running $750, but I can't get times that work. Problem is flying from the boonies in NC to the boonies in TX. Ah well - I'll figure something out. Or fly to El Paso. I haven't been there in a while. 🙂

Have you tried Southwest airlines from Lovefield airport in Dallas? Not sure about how to get there from NC, but maybe you could find a cheap flight from NC to DFW and then transfer to Lovefield?

I'd switch positions with you anyday! I've got a good GPA but a poor MCAT score. 4.0 GPA,mid 20's MCAT. The common feedback from adcoms is that a good MCAT score will make up for an average or poor GPA but the reverse will not help. I have a friend that had a 3.0 GPA and MCAT score of 34 and got in. She is now in a plastic surgery residency. I'll be very shocked if you do not at least get 2-3 acceptances. Don't worry so much! Meanwhile *****s like myself have to retake the beast in 3 weeks.

Not a *****. I don't think standardized tests reflect intelligence very well. It's a skill just like any other; not having that skill doesn't mean you're unintelligent.

All my stuff is in including LOR and scores at the TMDSAS site and i have gotten interviews at other texas schools i am waiting to see if UTSA or tech will give me any, i see other people have already gotten them at those schools. On the Tech web page it says my applications is complete and based on the fact i have gotten other interviews i don't think my gpa or mcat would ax me from either school. Any suggestions i applied early so i could interview before school started and it was kind of working? thanks

I am not really sure how you can check, but make sure to relax! Some schools are just slower than others.

Hang in there man. It probably falls under the category of the whole randomness of the process, because it sounds like you are a strong applicant. Its still very early in the process, so there's plenty of time left to receive interviews.

Dude, I am in the same position as you. I thought my stats (3.6/36) and the fact that I applied early (processed 6/21) would be good enough to get me early interviews at TTU and UTHSCSA, but nothing from either...

Word of advice: I've found that doing something brainless (for me, it's playing Civ. 4) helps me take my mind off of the fact that I'm at the mercy of the randomness of this process. If I sit around too long thinking about it, I start freaking out....

Yes, I was processed on the 12th and have heard from all of the UT schools. The irony is that I really REALLY want to hear from Tech and TAMU (anyone wanna trade?)...I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.
