Totally off the topic of LMFU....

Does anyone know if UTSA has a nice gross anatomy lab or actually walked into the lecture halls?

I know UTMB and TCOM have nice labs and TCOM has nice lecture halls, but I can't remember/might not have seen UTSA's lecture halls/lab.

Remember that everything on here is pure speculation. No one on these boards has any solid information regarding correlation between LMFU and acceptances

I finished 3 interviews before 9/8 and my LMFU the whole time was some day in august, then suddenly it changed to 10/02 and I got accepted to TCOM on 10/15. then a few days ago changed again to 11/09 so I'm hoping that its an acceptance to UTMB or Tech... but I guess it might be a rejection too.

Plus, TMDSAS organizes the match, so it would only make sense that the schools have to let them know who they want to accept.

one day 'til you guys start racking up the acceptances. just remember that schools may not actually start giving acceptances on Nov 15th and that schools might not give all of its acceptances on one day. so don't freak out if you've heard nothing right off the bat.

Wow, I get busy at work, and this thread is busier than it has ever been. With conspiracy theories, no less!

Except if they update who they accepted then they can see what other schools have accepted that person... so they can decide how to recruit.

👎 This makes no sense. Schools don't collude to recruit non-overalpping subsets of people. They would be in major legal trouble if they did. You are also assuming that ALL TMDSAS schools will be making a significant number of pre-match offers -- I don't believe that even THAT was ever established.

If you think about it, there is no need to notify TMDSAS of early acceptances. They only need to tell TMDSAS who is retaining offers with their schools after December 31st.

guys i really dont think this date lmfu has anything to do with acceptances...think about it...why would med schools tell the application service which students they accept...it does not make sense at all....they may do it right before match but not now...

👍 "Everyone" (Schools, premed offices, etc) has said that Rolling Admissions is a way for the INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS (i.e. Not through TMDSAS) to make acceptance offers before the match. TMDSAS has nothing to do with this (except that they need to know how many spots are left open, and the ranked list of applicants when match time rolls around.)

There is no way that there is any correlation between LMFU updates and acceptances. If there were, TMDSAS would just tell you to check your LMFU to see if you were accepted, because it would save everybody money/time.

If your LMFU does not change then there is likely no chance at being accepted early, whereas as if it does change (assuming not the result of an interview invite, RCW update, etc) then there is at least some chance that you have been accepted early.....no change for me since Halloween.🙄

I bet none of us get prematch offers. All of us who have been posting on this thread. Some newbie who's never heard of SDN prior to getting accepted is going to waltz onto this thread and post how he got his prematch acceptance in the mail. And we will all feel depressed and stupid for stressing over it so much.

I wasn't implying they were colluding. I was saying if a person has been offered pre-match acceptances from San Antonio, Houston and UTMB but say UTMB really really wants them they might go out of their way to recruit them but if they're only offered an acceptance from UTMB maybe not so much out of their way.

Thanks potato... good to hear some sort of experience-based opinion... although the Little Voice of Doom in my head says things may be different this year with rolling admissions. (It's the voice of doom because my date didn't change on 11/10. ) Any way you could break into the admission office for me on the way to class and check my file? 😛

SOMETHING statistically significant happened with a file update on 11/10 (but not to me.) Maybe the admin types were admitting people. Maybe they had just made some popcorn and were ready to be entertained by our reactions.

Yup. I'm having trouble keeping perspective on this issue. Folks, we are among the luckiest 1% of the planet, and that will still be true if we get rejection letters tomorrow from every school we applied to. On a smaller scale, I think we're lucky as well to have a match system. Means more of us will be getting good news in February instead of praying for waitlist movement in May. Yes, I'm trying to pursuade myself, not any of you. I know perfectly well that all that is true, but my Inner Petulance is trying to get out of control, and needs stomping on.

BTW, I hope I'm wrong, because my last interview was 10/14 at UTSW and my LMFU is 101606. (My other two interviews were UTH and UTMB in August.)

I have identical info... I figure UTSW must have done a post-interview update on that day.

I didn't mean to jump on you, and I didn't know that all AMCAS schools had knowledge of all of your other acceptances (I didn't even think that they had knowledge of where else you applied.) If I'm wrong about that, then sorry -- my bad.

However, I did understand what you were saying, and I still don't think it happens that way. ADCOMS can fill their class 3-4X over with the number of people that are interviewed, and I don't really think that they go out of their way for anybody.

Maybe I'm just cynical that way.

What's kind of funny is that I looked at my watch and it said the 13th. I just bought a new [analog] watch, and I must've set the date at the wrong time so that it was behind by a couple of hours. I was about to post something like, "What are you guys talking about, tomorrow -- tomorrow is the 14th." But then I saw on my computer screen that today was actually the 14th. Me neither -- my last LMFU was 10/13 -- about a week after my last interview.

Absolutely, without a doubt. One of the only "constant" pieces of advice that I have been given during this whole process has been, APPLY EARLY.

Not at all. Although I heard (actually asked the Driector of Admissions directly, when I interviewed there) that they weren't planning on handing out many pre-match offers, others have stated that they will fill 1/2 of their class through pre-match offers. Assume that I am wrong, and they are right. There will still be AT LEAST 1/2 of the seats available for the match.

So, congrats on your interview invite!

Make sure you're using the right username. They assigned me a weird one (first intial, part of last name, 2007) that I've forgotten to use in the past.

just to re-iterate my experience w/ UTSW:

you'll get a snail mail letter (no e-mail) and you will not see anything on the online status page.

and again, there is no guarantee that all schools will even begin to accept students exactly on 11/15. OOS did not begin exactly on 10/15 just fyi
