Being as how step1 is the yard stick by which all med students are compared, as well as the weight it carries in residency choice, shouldn't all schools teach toward it? I'm not exactly sure what you could miss out on since all schools have to cover basically the same material. It really has to come down to presentation and testing emphasis. For instance, i don't think i would mind having my test structured in a similar format to step 1 simply for the sake of getting familiar with the setup. Now of course, I can appreciate the need for broader learning experience, but I'm not sure I would like it to come at the cost of skimming over material I will be responsible for later on one of the most important test i will take.

I'll root 26 times per day but let me tell you....the rooting better be equal or it's over. Deal? Deal! If one is accepted prior to the other it will be assumed uneven rooting has occurred and the guilty party must root until A) Feb. 15th or B) the other receives an acceptance, whichever comes last. I am fully aware that there is the possibility of needless rooting occurring if both parties are accepted before Feb. 15th but rooting is a highly desired skill in residency so it will eventually pay off. Dam.....I'm sorry, I am just really tired of hitting the refresh button.:laugh:

I had the same LMFU as you but no email and no letter today🙁

I guess Tech and UTSA aren't going to show me any love this cycle of admissions. Is it bad if I am compulsively checking my email and mail for more acceptances even after I have already been accepted to my #1?

You are only as crazy as I am. And even though I know what my #1 choice is (where I've already been accepted), it's going to be hard to call the other schools and ask to be withdrawn....😳

I interviewed at UT-H on Nov. 3, and my LMFU chaged to 11/16 today from 11/3, but no acceptance ..
 
So we have to decide between multiple acceptances by January 15th, according to TMDSAS.

This whole LMFU issue has me bewildered. Am I the only one with a LMFU of 11/02/06? LOL

In UT-Houston's acceptance letter, it said that we have to notify them by Dec. 1st if we are going to accept their acceptance. By the 31st of December (if you have more than one Texas acceptance) you have to decide which school you want to keep your acceptance at (you can only have one at this point) and withdraw your acceptance from the other(s). By Feb. 1 you have to submit your match preferences to TMDSAS, and the match will occurr on Feb. 15. At least this is how I understand it so far.

I interviewed at UTSA and my LMFU isn't 11/10. It is 11/16

BTW, my LMFU changed from 11/10 -> 11/15
 
Hey I just joined this forum, and maybe I'm missing that this was already answered, but has anyone been accepted anywhere that applied in like mid October? I've interviewed at all the UT's and havent heard anywhere and was wondering if they haven't got around to later interviewees yet or if I should be worried. Thanks!!!

I do, but I interviewed with UTSW on the 11th...so it's probably just an update from them... 🙁
 
I was just accepted to Texas A&M and UT-Houston. Just out of curiosity, is there a specific GPA that I have to maintain to keep my acceptance (like above a 3.5 or a 3.0) or can I be done being anal about my grades?

If I could just borrow your verbal score and make my MCAT instantly respectable then I would stand a lot better chance.:laugh: Also a few of your 900 some odd EC's would help as well.....freaking superwoman.

Hey everybody -- quick question.

I just celebrated by writing thank-you notes and baking cookies for the profs who wrote my recommendations... only one of them teaches a class I'm in right now, as well. We're a pretty small, tight-knit school... it doesn't cross the sycophantic threshold to bake him cookies in thanks on an occasion like this, right? He knows perfectly well that getting an A doesn't matter to me now, anyway (as if it were ever a danger in relativity!)

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I'm not being inappropriate.

Anyone know if any of these TX schools offer Gross Anatomy / research opportunities the summer before?

Trying to figure out what to do with my summer. I really don't want to be working till school starts. I travel a lot already for work already - so that's not really high up on my list.

question: so once you accept their offer, how do u go about rejecting it when you are about to submit your match preference? (email? letter? via TMDSAS?) this is not for UT-H specifically, just in general.

Thanks chaey, it's been a long journey but yet an interesting one. I am sure you will be getting more invites as you took the August MCAT and Georgetown post-bach is awesome! I really hope you get interview to tech as well. Rambler, I am rooting for you to get to tech, I hope we will be classmates!

If you reject it before Dec. 1, then I would notify them by email. Otherwise, the match will release you from your acceptance to your lower ranked schools automatically.
