what's the lowest ranking school people have matched at. I wanna know if anyone has heard about the lowest anyone matched from previous years. From what it seems people usually match at their first or second choice. Is this generally the case.

I sure hope so....

Has anybody who was processed in October heard from TAMU or San Antonio yet? Waiting sucks

AJ

waiting here too for TT, UTSA, and TAMU to come through, ajnak. Waiting sucks!! What date were you processed? I was processed 10/13 and I check my email 20+ times a day hoping for good news

I sure hope so....I loved SA!!! 🙂

Hey everyone, just wanted to get some opinions about making a last-ditch effort... I haven't heard anything from my top choice Texas school, and I'm wondering if I should bother trying to write a LOI since the interview period at this school seems to be coming to a close very quickly... Any advice is appreciated...

I don't think that it could possibly hurt at this point....better to know that you tried than to be left wondering right? Good luck with your letter! 👍

I was wondering about the Tech gala this evening in Grapevine. Have they invited all applicants in the DFW area or is it only for people they have interviewed? I haven't been invited to interview at Tech so I was just wondering.

I agree with AsianDoc, let them know your interested. What are they going to do, not interview you if they don't like it! Put that best foot forward and good luck! :luck:

They invited everyone who applied to Tech, are you going?

Those who got an interview at TCOM, how long did it take them to give you an interview after you were completed?

About a week.

3 weeks for me. Yeah I'm thinking about going. Are you?

Well letter of interest is what I meant by it... But there's really not that much difference between the two, IMHO... Anyway, I guess I'll be writing that letter today... Wish me luck

crap, I never got this invitation. I live in the Dallas area also.

I'm thinking about going as well, hopefully it won't rain too hard tonight.

That's weird, some other people have said the same thing. From what I understand this reception is there to provide information for the applicants, it has nothing to do with admissions.

I am going to the Tech reception tonight in Grapvine (near Dallas) as well. If you RSVPed (the letter asked to RSVP by 10/27) you should definitely go!--I was confused when I read people were "thinking" of going? 😕 😕

The lady I talked to at Tech said it has nothing to do with admissions as well. It is entirely run by the alumni association to provide information to the applicants. Dr. Dalley attended the one in Houston, so that might be incentive enough to attend! 👍

I hope to see some SDN people there!

About 1 week for me as well (phone call). Keep in mind the turnaround time might be slower now that its later in the cycle.

Good luck! :luck:

Seriously... I have blisters on my pointer finger from the incesant "refresh" clicking, and the middle finger is well on its way to having one of its own.

Absolutely don't quote your stats! Just talk about the school and why you think you would be a good fit.

Does anyone know what day of the week San Antonio's committee meets?

Just wanted to pass on some good news to my fellow Texas Applicants....Got my acceptance to Drexel yesterday (ironically, the one day since 15 October that I hadn't called home to see if there was anything in the mail for me)! While I am still hoping for a Texas acceptance come 1 February, the stress of actually getting *into* medical school is off. Now I get to quit my job and play 😀

To make yesterday even cooler, my mom gave me my great great grandfather's solid brass mortar and pestle set (one big and one small) that he used as a physician during the civil war to grind medicine. Apparently, when I was young and expressed interest in being a doctor, my grandmother had passed these along to my mom with the intent that one day these were to be displayed in my office as a physician. Funny thing is that I decided in college not to pursue medicine and now after working as a chemical engineer for 3 years, I finally have changed course back to medicine and been accepted. I had no idea they existed until yesterday--and am completely surprised that my mom hadn't mentioned them.

Thought you guys would appreciate the story. Best of luck to all during these stressful times--the hard work pays off in the end.
Congratulations!

And what a great story. 🙂

Yeah. My stats suck! I'll be looking over my app and personal statements, so I can see "what they see," and get some insight on why I even got an interview in the first place, and make sure I live up to that image, and then some. I've got three people to convince tomorrow that I belong there, that I can handle my life AND a dual degree, and that I'll be good at what I do. 👍

No clue. 😕 If you don't mind me asking, why do you need to know? 🙂

I have a question of my own: Does anybody know why the "Last Master File Update" under the "Applicant Profile" of TMDSAS changes dates all of the time? What's going on....nothing appears to be changing in my profile or in my application. Does anybody have any clue or is y'alls doing the same thing? The last time it was updated was apparently Nov. 1. 😕

Thanks - unfortunatly that does me no good 🙁
Thursday would be a MUCH MUCH better day for them to meet.

I applied to Tech and I didn't get invited to any gala, in Grapevine or in Houston. I guess they really don't want me 😡

I'm still waiting on Tech, kinda gave up on San Antonio and Dallas. All this studying has kept my mind off the waiting though.

Isn't it wonderful! I was an hour late for work today because I decided to go for a run at Memorial Park. Sunny...not a cloud in the sky....GORGEOUS! [my work ethic is shot now that I have my ticket outta here!]

Have a great day everyone!

Did anybody go to the Tech reception last night, I went and really had a good time.

Yah....on the radio, they were advertising for a weight loss program (drop 3 dress sizes before Christmas). They emphasized that Christmas is only 7 weeks away....which means that February is closer than we think, considering that the holidays will FLY by!!!

I kinda want Feb.1 to come now, but on the flipside, I am a little nervous that I might not match. It's a double edged sword 🙁

I read somewhere that of the 800 interviewees at Tech, they match 500. Those aren't horrible odds! Just keep repeating, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it...people like me"

I know! I was just looking at my schedule and the number of classes left seem to be dwindling away. I only have 2 more labs in ochem!! Yay! It'll be Thanksgiving soon, finals, and then Christmas! By Jan 15th, it'll be completely outta our hands. :scared:

So are UTHSCSA and TAMU participating in a 3-week long curling tournament and are thus taking a break from applications or are they just trying to kill us with suspense? Has anyone heard anything? I've been processed since 10/13, but all is quiet on the western front. Throw me a friggin' bone here 😀
