I've come to the point where each time I check my email, I don't really ever expect to find anything new...sorta like just checking for routine-sake. But today, much to my surprise, I got an invite from UT-H for 11/19. (I'm an August MCATer, btw.)

Now I have an excuse to go to IKEA! 😛

Congrats! Double Whammy situtation, good to hear Just be aware that if you go to ikea, you may never come out. Take a flare just in case you get lost. On another note, now that the match is getting closer, does anyone know what percentage of applicants do not get matched anywhere after interviewing? See ya

Couldn't agree with you more, acceptance is just so much cooler than rejection. I've seen those stats, but I haven't seen any relating to the number of acceptances among those applicants who have received interviews. I think my level of neuroticism is blowing through the roof due to my interview tomorrow. Well, I'm gonna stop procrastinating for once and take care of me business, late

Hey everyone, quick question. I've been reading about the Tech "come meet us" events in Dallas, Houston, etc... Is this invite a prelude to an interview? I haven't received any such invitation and was wondering if this is a targeted event, or if everyone who has an address close to a host city gets one.

I went to the Tech reception in Houston a few weeks ago and have yet to receive an invite. But then again, my money order got lost in the mail and they received my new one only 3 weeks ago. An interview invite right about now would be nice.

So are UTHSCSA and TAMU participating in a 3-week long curling tournament and are thus taking a break from applications or are they just trying to kill us with suspense? Has anyone heard anything? I've been processed since 10/13, but all is quiet on the western front. Throw me a friggin' bone here 😀

i'm an august mcater and got an invite from tamu a little over a week ago. still haven't heard a peep out of tech, san antonio or galveston, though.

another note: i went to the tech reception in dallas last night and had a great time. very impressive changes they're making! hope to hear from them soon!!

i don't know of a website but here's what i do know:
1) brand new curriculum beginning with entering 2005 class (us!) --WAY more clinically oriented with patient contact within first few weeks. more systems based, case-based learning, small group interactions
2) brand new buildings. they sound phenomenal. new classroom/lecture halls for medical students...even in el paso and amarillo

i was really impressed with tech by the end of the night. sounds like they're really trying to attract the brightests students.

thanks! i was processed way back in july. they probably first reviewed my app with my april scores, and my invites have been based on my august scores.

I can't believe she said that! What audacity! Okay, I've officially given up on San Antonio, and I'm no longer calling b/c I think that'd I'd start crying (literally) if the lady told me something like that....geez, these people need to be a little more sympathetic--it's only our entire futures that depend on these interviews!

Or, you could look at it as an honest assessment of your packet. At least you won't be left wondering, "Will I get an interview this year?"

There's still hope for people!

I called UTMB this afternoon and was told that my invite was in the mail.
I'm excited--I've heard really great things about Galveston.

for those that are still waiting--there's still plenty of time. stay positive because you never know when invites will come.

When I went there 3 years ago I was surprised by the black oily 110 F water(I had just moved from the East, so this was a rude shock to me) Oh well, sour grapes...

I wouldn't give up yet... I just received my invite in the mail and I was complete in July/August. I had my other interviews over a month ago. Weirdness. Now if only Baylor would play along.

my boyfriend interviewed (really early) everywhere in texas (including baylor) EXCEPT for UTMB. it's so bizarre. he has a 36, 3.6 from Emory and is an all-american varsity track runner.

That's very strange since they told me they were becoming more of a "numbers" school. Their stats have been increasing over the past few years. Last year, their averages were 28/3.73

Good news... 👍 after getting back from interviews at UTH today I check my email and got a Texas Tech interview. Either 11/10 or 11/17 in Lubbock or the 12th for El Paso. Do you think their is any advantage to going to the earlier one at all? I think I might save a few bucks on airfare and go to the later one... or I might just get it over with, pretty short notice though.

For all those people that didn't get and invite to that reception, don't worry. I didn't get one either. They finally got off their butts and sent out invitations!

On a positive note, I went to go see The Incredibles last night....very cute and awesome movie! It's definitely got some adult appeal, and it'll give you a good laugh (something we all need around this time!) 👍

1) You're definitely NOT wasting anyone's time, posts like yours are what SDN is for. In fact, I think SDN may be some premed's #1 method of wasting time. So in that sense, you may just be helping them (myself included) in that endeavor 😀
