hahaha, i've had this screenname since middle school. i played basketball and tennis in middle school. i thought it sounded quirky back in the day.

USCTEX: nothing wrong with having pride in the Horns no matter where you went to school.

Hopefully someone will have some info on this... good luck 2/1/05 everyone!!

Seems as though Houston has finally fired up enough space heaters to make sure that no more snow will fall. It's been friggin' freezing, Mr. Bigglesworth. Anyway, I'm lost in trying to rank these schools. However, as long as I manage to finagle an acceptance somewhere come Feb. 1st, I'll be stoked. Not just because I'll be in medical schools, but because I won't be waiting tables anymore. There is nothing in the world that is more degrading than being tipped with a nickle, let me tell you, except for maybe being depanted during your white coat ceremony.

On another note, anyone determined their new year's resolutions yet? I think stopping procrastination is my number one choice. I would prefer my resolution to be something along the lines of ceasing to sleep around so much, but sadly, such a resolution is not fitting for my current dry spell. Actually, now there's an idea for a resolution... Happy Holidays peoples

For some reason I just get the image of a disco ball when I see your name.

Mine's an oldie but a goodie (for me)... the short (and rather dorky) version is that my sn represents my dualism... foto- for my love of photography/aesthetics (maybe that's why I wanna be a path when I grow up? 🙂), -lilith (not the -faire variety) after a fun myth I read about when I was young that seemed to fit my rebellious/driven side.

I guess that means I'm going into the right field...after all, the Caduceus (or the Rod of Aesculapius, whichever snake staff thing you believe came first) is often cited as representing the Duality of Apollo, ancient god of Medicine AND the Arts. 😀

They gave us a list of what specialities their students go into, but not the programs themselves. I really liked the school when I interviwed there, but I hear from others it is very low in rankings. I dont want to rank my schools based on rankings, but I do not want to feel too limited in my options when I apply for residencies. If any of yall could help out, Id appreciate it. Thanks eveyrone. Here are my rankings as of now...

AFAIK, your class standing and USMLE Step I score are the most important factors with regard to getting good residencies. Your u/grad medical school *might* have some bearing for the ultra-competitive residencies like Gen Surg @ Mass General, etc.

Besides, as roja has alluded to repeatedly, most programs outside of TX have NO idea about the diff. btwn all the TX schools. FYI, she is an EM resident in NYC @ a competitive program.

Just my two cents.
