I just don't understand why people put so much emphasis on how OTHER people feel about particular medical schools. ALL of the Texas med schools are amazing, and honestly, all of them are lumped together (even Baylor) when you are applying for residencies (particularly out of state).
When you get out in the real world, ie, finish residencies, etc, you're going to learn that "the only place that matters is the last place you go to" (fellowship/ residencies). The way you GET those residencies, and ultimately get the primo job you want, is through your board exams, clinical evaluations, and to some extend, med school grades.
This means you find the place that YOU would succeed best at/ make the best impressional with your attendings/ whoever is writing your evaluations. Where you get into residency will have much more to do with your own personal abilities than ANY perceived importance your school has, inside or outside of Texas.
So good luck, but don't let anyone else (the SDN crew, your friends, your family, etc) influence your decision on where you rank - cuz you'll just resent them (and yourself) later.
PS - I like the idea of ranking a place first based on whether they gave you an interview or not. right on!
