haven't posted in a while b/c i keep getting lazy, man i wish i had kept up with the post cause i wanted to go to the h-town get together, but truthfully i din't want to meet anyone until after the match. i think about the match every second and rationalize it and the closer i get to the match the less and less confident i become.
i am mad that i din't get interview at some of the schools in TX eventhough other people with lower stats that me got it (sorry, i promise i'm not hatin), but ultimatelly i blame myself for that, so oh well.
so the validation thing is it still true in that after the 15th, if your number stays there you got into first choice, or like someone said it's totally something else.
happy birthday to the earlier post.
but we all have to admit it's good no it's GREAT to be tx resident we have better chance then any other state, i think, of getting into med school.
but we can try to spend this time watching football, after all it's playoffs, eventhough texans and cowboys aren't in it.
i am doing the same thing that the earlier post said, i go to gym and work out and try to get my mind off of this thing, i figure if i work out really hard i'll be tired and then sleep more so hopefully i won't think about it.

but i had a dream like a month ago that it was jan 15 and i had to rank the schools and i woke up and it was dec 15th. scary huh.
i hope we all match into our first choice. and i hope that it's posted on midnight jan 31, cause if they make us wait any longer, i am driving to austin to say what'up to them.

Well, I guess I'll follow my initial plan and wait until after I get the match results to fill Filo in on my wonderful experience.

The schools find out the results before Feb 1st. They just make US wait that long for the match list. 😡

My file was updated 011405 to include my fall semester transcript and it changed my gpa. Not that it matters since the schools won't see it.

My master file update is not 01/15/05 also. I still haven't been validated though, but attribute that to not sending in my Fall transcripts yet.

The schools will be mailing out acceptance letters on Feb 1st so they need some time to get them together once they get their list of matched applicants. Since a computer program is doing the match, they'll probably have the results on Monday. So just think, our fates will soon be decided but they're going to make us wait an extra two weeks 😡 👎
 
If it's not all about numbers than I want to know wth it IS all about. I have lower than average GPA and MCAT, so I know I didn't get interview invites based on my stats.

I interviewed at 7 schools out of all I applied to, and only one was a TX school. All the other school's interviewers told me how well qualified I was, and how my app stands out from all the rest. This is mostly based on my nontrad experiences. So I have come to the conclusion that I'm not qualified enough for my own state but I am for 6 others. Go figure. Bitter, yes.

Oh and my last piece of advice, don't let the UTSA Dean of Admissions mislead you and sugarcoat your application. It's all lies, LIES I tell you LIES!

Some schools actually mail out the letters before the 1st. Last year, several people who lived close to the school in which they matched received letters on the 31st.

It is conceivable that since the 1st is on a Tuesday, that this won't happen this year. Last year, the 1st was a Sunday. The schools probably mail the letters on Friday and since the mail is delivered on Saturday, several people received news early.

This year, the letters will probably be mailed on the 31st, which is a Monday. This means, those who live close to the school they match with will not find out early.

Question: Since both the Students and the Schools are required to submit their lists today, our theory about the "Date Changes" makes absolutely no sense. It would take minutes for the computer to match everyone at their highest ranked school offering acceptance. So assuming everyone either matches or doesn't match on the first run through, why would the computer make any other attempts at matching? Originally, it was thought that you could match with a school higher on the list, but this makes no sense.

The schools submit their ranked lists containing more than enough students to fill their class. There is no need for the computer to make multiple attempts at matching because there aren't any changes occuring between Jan 15th and Feb 1st. No one can reject or accept a postition at a school during those 15 days because they don't know whether or not they were accepted anywhere. I don't think the date theory could possible be true.

Any thoughts?

Is that why some people's dates are changing now? Mine still says 121604, but I'm keeping my eye on it. What you mentioned makes more sense to me. At most I think it would take a day or two depending on how many people in the system and how their computers run.

I think you're right on. That rumor about the validation date turned out to be false (as you so kindly verified), and I'm sure that there are people out there who are hoping to find some kind of "shortcut" into guessing who matched where. I think what you're saying makes sense--all of this match stuff is way over-hyped.

Jess--calm down! You are way overqualified to be a doctor. Just look at your EC's and stats! I'm sure that you wrote an awesome PS as well. And if you don't match (which you will), don't give up your dream to be a doctor by going to grad school! PhDs are scary (or at least the Natural Sciences ones at UT are)! But I know how you feel....I've always thought that a PhD in clinical or developmental psychology would work fine for me....

Oh, and my last master file update still says 1/7/05....

Yeah, Jess...don't worry so much. You will match somewhere for sure. Since you interviewed at so many Texas schools, statistically your a sure thing!

Don't worry SFAJess, my date is still 1/10/05 and I ahve not been validated yet. I don't think that is anything to worry about.

Here are all the ones I've been able to track down. I'm glad that this year (so far and for the most part) there has only been one main TX thread to keep track of, although for a newbie, 197 pages is a bit much. =)

I don't know if any of y'all know this, but our pre-professional advisors have access to the TMDSAS website as well. Last year, TMDSAS accidentally posted the Match results to their section of the website a week early. Our advisor saw this and told the students where they got in last year. I sure hope that happens again. However, after making a big mistake like that, I'm sure they will be extra careful and not let it happen again. Oh well!

Validation is only verifification of your pre-reqs for school. It doesn't have anything to do with matching. :luck:

Thanks for the info! Wow....So if my last master file update hasn't changed....then no A&M for me. I guess I just need to hold tight and wait to find out. I actually wouldn't mind being in SA (#2) 😉 ....just don't tell my fiance that!! 😀
 
Are Jess and I the only ones whose profiles haven't changed? I thought that the ranking wasn't due until today?

Edit: Okay, I think that the deadline is 11:59 PM tonight. I just re-saved my preferences, and the system let me do it. If the deadline had already passed, I don't think it would let me re-save. And BTW, it looks like UTSW is in the lead by a long-shot!

I think I'm starting to crazy right NOW! I was fine the whole day today =(

I guess their end works like ours...you can fill out anytime you want but it's final by today.

Thanks JDAD!! 😳 Am I the only one freaking out though? I need to block SDN from my computer so I can't come up with conspiracy theories whenever I read something new. 🙂 I'm ready for school to start...I'll be taking yoga and I think that will help out with the stress. 👍
 
I know what you mean. I am starting to freak out. I spent a long time at the gym today, and I am probably going to start spendingeven more time there.

It is almost as if my computer pulls me towards it with a tractor beam. You can actually block SDN from your computer, but make sure to have someone else enter in the password (or else you WILL just crack it and check SDN)

The downside is that it slows everything about the internet down because any site must be verified by the computer prior to loading the website.

Does anybody know where I will match? If they do, let me know.

Fellow freaker-outer. Yes, I WANT TO START SCHOOL! My days pass by much more quickly, and I have an interview at Tulane in late January to occupy my mind. Leaving for Austin early tomorrow morning....wonder what Ill be thinking about....um, the match.

I thought they would go ahead and verify everything once they had that.. but sadly they didn't.. nor has my master file been changed lately. I'm sure glad I turn 21 a couple days before the match. 😀

I'm in the same boat - going a little crazy knowing that the ranking deadline is here/past. Knowing that the results are out there, but that I just can't see them drives me crazy!

Ha - I wonder what our future patients would think if they knew how completely neurotic we all are@ :laugh:

My RCW changed to 1/15 as well but even though my transcripts have been in for two weeks I have no validation...*shrug* maybe I didn't fulfill all the marticulation requirements.

But I did...as far as I can tell by the website. That would suck 🙄 get in somewhere they don't think you've completed all the requirements to marticulate...heard some stories about that...why would they let people in who haven't completed the requirements? I guess people could be finishing them up right now, I mean, last semester of college...

Quick question for you guys- I'm an out of state resident and my master file has changed 3 times in the last five days (1/10, 1/14, and 1/15). Any significance since i'm not from or live in Texas?
 
So, let's say that you match at your #2 choice....and then, in June, you get into your #1 choice. Does that mean that you now have a choice between the two schools? I mean, if you had already found housing in the city of your #2 choice, wouldn't it be a hassle to change everything at the last minute? I'm so scared that this is going to happen to me....and given the choice b/w my #1 and #2 choices, I think I'd be an emotional mess--torn b/w the school that I originally got into and the one that I recently got into. Comments, anyone?

For all of you that are worried about validation dates, my RCW date changed on 12/22, but my validation date wasn't until 1/12. Now, if my stupid master file update would change, then I'd be happy =)

Hey everyone,
I bet all the schools turned them in on Friday since today is not a business day. So just think, they may have already run the program and our fates are already decided but they're making us wait :scared: 😡
