General Admissions & OTCAS Texas schools 2020-2021 stats

People getting into UTHSCSA, when was the deadline to be on the waitlist? I’m wondering if they sent them out before the deadline and maybe TWU will do the same. Also, congrats to you all who have gotten into your programs!!

Sure I don’t mind!

University: Texas A&M University
Major: Kinesiology - Motor Behavior
Overall GPA: 3.71
Pre-Req GPA: 3.5-3.75 depending on the pre reqs
GRE: V: 151 Q: 152 W: 4.0

Work Experience/OT experience: For the past year and a half I have worked at an OT clinic and have about 1000+ hours with them. I get hands on experience with insurance, scheduling, and interacting with patients as well. I have also shadowed an additional 200 hours between a school system, hand therapist, PEDS, and inpatient acute care.

Extra-Curricular: Member of an OT society, honors sorority (did a lot of additional community service within this), helped with food bank, relay for life, and am a member of a running club.

Extra: I also had 5 letters of recommendation- I was extremely close with all of them so I feel like that helped a lot.

Wow! How did you manage to get into all those different places for observation?? I reached out to so many places and the only ones that ever had openings were pediatric outpatient clinics! I was lucky enough to get an OT internship at a hospital and into one geriatric in patient facility. So cool you got to experience specialty areas like hand therapy!
 
Can someone who applied to TWU tell me which date the OTD program begins? I’m on the waitlist and cannot remember what they said in the interview.

They said they’d reach out within 4-6 weeks even if we were rejected. I really hope they reach out by the end of the day to us all. /: I’ve also been checking my emails literally 24/7 waiting for their response, I’m super anxious about it lol.

I interviewed in September and they took longer than six weeks. I think like six weeks in a half I believe

Yes, I was waitlisted at the Dallas location and I got the email yesterday at around 6:30! It said I had until Jan 22nd to accept my spot, or it will be offered to someone else on the waitlist. (I accepted my spot already). But there’s still hope for anyone else on the waitlist that hasn’t heard back from them!

Did you get pulled off the UTMB waitlist? Because I thought the deadline for accepting their first round of offers was Jan 4.

If you don't mind me asking, why are you choosing those schools over TWU? I am also debating between UTMB and possibly TWU as well!

No, I accepted the offer by January 2nd, but I just got accepted into UTH so I’m debating if I’d prefer to go there!

To be honest, I didn’t hear many great things about TWU Houston. I also liked the fact that UTMB is more hands on. TWU is more research based. I also went to the campus and didn’t really like the surrounding area of TWU!

I decided I will be attending UT Health San Antonio so I will be giving up my spot to TWU Houston 👍🏽 Good luck to anyone on the waitlist

One thing that stood out to me was the students during our interviews. The UTSA students had many good things to say, especially about the professors and the style of teaching that seemed genuine. Also, I know a few people who are currently there who absolutely love it. On top of that, I’ve visited the campus and liked that everything was all together and there was accessible parking.
 
Anybody gotten off the waitlist at TTU?

I called and they never answered so I emailed them so hopefully ill hear back soon! I really wish I knew what number I am on the waitlist. When it asked you if any other spots at the other locations opened up did you put all of them?

Hopefully you get a response soon! Yes I put that I would accept at any location.
 
Has anybody who interviewed with TTU on December 4, heard back from them?
