Texas Tech 2011 Application Cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did anyone start apartment hunting in Amarillo? I called a couple of apartments asking for rates and availability but the response is, "We can't tell you what will be available in July and August, so it is better if you start looking closer to your move-in date." So, I'm guessing it is not really the time for it now.
Anyway, do you guys prefer living by yourself in a studio or one bedroom apartment vs living with a roommate? What are the pros and cons of both?
I've always lived at home as I did my undergraduate courses at a university quite close to my parent's place so I'm not used to it.

I would come up here and search for apartments soon, maybe during spring break or something, just so you can get an idea of which one you would want to live in. Some apartments may have a wait list. I live in Winchester and I am pretty sure our name was on a wait list until mid summer when we finally got one assigned. Winchester are the most popular, so if you're interested in them, I would call them to see about a wait list. I don't know if they still do that anymore though.
Also, I live with a roommate who is also a student here and it's nice because it splits the bills & gives you company.
Hope that helped!

I just got the immunization call!!! Did anyone else hear anything today?

New school rankings just came out. Texas Tech is #2 in Texas, #32 in the list. Not bad. Beats UIW, UH, A&M, and TSU

For those who got immunization emails, when was your interview?
Thanks.

so does a call/e-mail about immunization mean your accepted? and is texas tech yall's first choice school?

If you get the call/e-mail, you can safely say you're in. Congrats to all those who got in and if there are any questions, feel free to message me! 🙂

Just got the acceptance email! Interviewed on the 17th of Feb. 😉

Thanks! Instate (TX) it's, since I got tabled at UH. Yet, my mind is still lingering for the three years program @ Pacific, Oregon or Roseman, Nevada. Idk, it's a tough choice.

How long do we have to complete the criminal background check? In the letter it said to complete it as soon as we accept but I was just wondering exactly how long we had to complete it since I am still waiting on my decision for UT and don't want to waste $40 without knowing for sure.

Why don't you just call and ask them? I did mine right after I got accepted and I am still waiting on UT and UH.

I have not heard anything back from tech since Mike asked me for my updated PCAT score and extra rec LOR.

Last week I got a mail from tech telling me how to "fast track" to my interview day.

I guess I will be getting a rejection letter soon.

How long after receiving an acceptance email did it take to receive the letter? Just wondering if it only takes a couple days or maybe even more than a week.

Interviewed feb 17th I think. Got an immunization request email today. But I will decline, going to UT, so here's a spot

I interviewed Feb. 24th and just received an immunization email today. Just to make sure that it's THE immunization email that could bring good news: It basically says to reply immediately with the status of my immunizations/application. Is that the one or does everyone recieve that email?

That means they want to give you acceptance, however, they cannot due to your incomplete immunization

Did you interview in Abilene? I just got my school designation Abilene for 4 years.

Yes I did! I prefer the Abilene campus mainly because it's 5hours from my family rather than 9hours like Amarillo, but I don't know my campus assignment for sure yet.

I just really wanted to make sure that I had the right immunization email before I started jumping for joy so I called the admissions office, and they basically said the same thing as XSV 🙂 Congrats to everyone accepted! To those still waiting, don't lose hope as the admissions office told me they are still sending out acceptances 🙂

Did anyone narrow down a few decent apartments in Amarillo near TTUHSC?

If we are in Abilene then does that mean we will have to do all of our rotations in Abilene as well during the P4 year?

so does anyone know how many spots are still available?

Has anyone from the 03/02 or 03/09 interview heard anything back yet?

:xf:

Most of your rotations will be in the Abilene area, but you can set up your own rotations in some cases. I know one P4 who set up a rotation in San Antonio, and another who is doing his last rotation in Houston. There is a degree of flexibility, but with so many pharmacy schools in Texas setting up your own rotations elsewhere can be challenging. Either way, you have some options.

I interviewed 3/2, and I still have not heard anything. Im wondering if some applicants that are not on SDN have received anything yet

I interviewed on the 3/2, and I just got my immunization email as well! SO happy! 😀

I interviewed 3/9. The committee members reviewed applications the last week of March and results were processed this past week in April. I got my official acceptance email this past Friday, 4/6.

Hey guys, I'm applying for c/o 2017 and I have a couple of questions. I'm applying from UT Austin and was wondering if M 408K AP credit will be accepted by TTUHSC? Also, does TTUHSC focus more on pre-pharm or overall GPA? How important is pharmacy experience? Will experience in a pharmacy-related UT COP lab be helpful?

You should call and ask the school about the credit for the class. As for what they look at, I'm not sure. I assume they look for well rounded students. They recalculate your GPA based on the required courses. Any extra-curricular experiences/activities you have will strengthen your application as a candidate.

Is there a wait list that is provided? I'm not sure if they inform you about where you're ranked or if you just have to sweat it out.
