Hello. My previous message was directed at mbishop.
the others appear to have answered your questions. if you have any more, let me know.
Hello. My previous message was directed at mbishop.
Most of the P3 and P4 classes are pre-recorded and they are online. Because during your P3 and P4 year you are doing 2 six week rotations and a few required classes and electives. Your P3 year will be the most busy work and then it relaxes a little during the last year. Texas Tech loves to make online classes, I believe that is the only choice because the faculty is divided between 4 cities.
But yeah you will be with your classmates all day for the P1 & P2 years, except for labs. So don't make any enemies cause you'll sit next to them everyday. 🙂
I was stunned by that interview feedback. I guess I was fortunate that my interview was very laid back. In fact, it seemed like the faculty member preferred to let the student run the interview process. Also, if this means anything, I checked Tech's website and there is a professor wang there.
On my interview day, everyone else seemed to feel like the interview was more conversational than anything and that we had stressed about it way too much.
Also, this is off the subject but when is the latest you can start on the Hep. B shots. I already got my first shot about three weeks ago but I'm just concerned for my friend who is waiting on an interview invite from Tech. Should he go ahead and get the Hep B now? Martin and Tim, you guys got your acceptance later during the year.... did you guys have your third and last series of Hep B shots by the time school started? Thanks.
WooHoo!!! Got an interview for 4/13!!!
I wonder how many slots are left? 😕
Do any of you P1's know how many interviews were granted last year or this year?
I have couple of questions for those of you who are doing p3 and p4 in dallas campus. i was reading through Tech's handbook and it only says that students do their rotations at VA hospital. other than VA, where else do you all do your rotations at? is there a lot of different choices as to where you could do it at? thanks for your reply

Hey, I just interviewed yesterday. There will be less than 300 interviews performed by the last interview date. Are you interviewing anywhere else?
I applied to two schools, Tech and Texas A&M and I interviewed at A&M this past Friday. So less than 300 interviews and approximately 130 slots, right? 90 in Amarillo and 40 in Abilene?
How did your interview go? Any advice?🙂
I will be there 4/13 too? I have my interview with A&M this Thursday. How did you do at Kingsville? What were your after thoughts? Any advice greatly appreciated? Thanks.
I think it went quite well. Make sure you read up on the interview tips on their website. Most of the questions were straight from the list.
You'll have an introduction, 20 minute essay, and a half hour interview with a 3 member panel. Overall, you'll be there about 2 hours total. If you review the sample questions and know why you're there, you'll do great. Just be yourself and relax, it really is an enjoyable experience. 🙂
Is there a dress code for class? At the A&M interview they stated they have a dress code for classes there. I hope thats not the case here at Tech.
since this is a professional program you could argue that the candidates should look professional most of the time.
i would not argue this.
you will however have to wear certain clothes during boot camp and during lab (for some reason).
Really? A dress code? I would assume it wouldn't be too strict...? Just no unnatural hair colors and such. I wouldn't think they'd be measuring with a ruler for the shorts no higher than 3.5" above the knee cap (a teacher at my high school *ACTUALLY DID DO THAT!*) or require men to wear sweater vests and turtlenecks and ladies to wear ankle-length dresses. I hope not, anyhow...
just kidding, but seriously, get a hair cut eh? just kidding, but seriously

if by dress code you mean, whatever you manage to throw on before you rush to school... then yes
if you mean an actualy dress code, no. yeah, if there was an actual dress code... I'm pretty sure I would have waited to hear back from other schools first
some schools require a shirt and tie everyday. I would probably use the tie to hang myself if that were the case. I don't mind dressing up and I like to look nice, but study/sleep habits would have to change drastically for me to have the time to dress like that every day. plus my wife would get tired of ironing my shirts, but she'd keep doing it because she knows that I suck at ironing and she wouldn't want people to think that she can't iron either![]()
but yeah, you'll have to look nice the first 2 weeks "boot camp" but after that you can look as slobbish as you please, I'm looking aorund class right now.... definitely some slobs in here... like the guy sitting to my left... aka, the guy that posted above me...
just kidding, but seriously, get a hair cut eh? just kidding, but seriously, have you seen Austin's DL picture? it's awesome, but now I"m getting off track.
At work (CVS) I wear a shirt and tie and stuff, and that's fine, because I only work a day or two a week (about 10-15 hours). if I had to do it all day everyday... forget it, wouldn't happen (at school I mean, of course I'll dress like that for work one day too)
I work at CVS as well. How do you like it? Are you always short staffed?
Hey Guys:
I am one of those real patient people. But during the interview we were given the impression that late this month we will would hear something about the committee's decision.
I noticed a whole bunch of people celebrating their spots for 2011 graduation. Were you guys were in the early interview sessions and who may I ask got accepted if any from the Feb 23 session? This will help me sleep without taking an Ambien

1143 days until graduation!
if that's the case, you should know sometime next week
however, we have spring break next week, so I don't know if that will affect the timing
MBishop ... Not at all.. I have been through this ... and as a former faculty in the med school I can relate to various mood swings caused by the waiting game that a lot may feel. The field gets competitive every year and often times committees may resort to subjective means as tie-breaking tools. Guys 80s and 90s are common pcat scores so we know how talented the applicants are.i bet <enter faculty/staff name here> will be trashed by sundown friday
