Hey everyone!

(Already searched the forums - be easy please)
After getting the recommendations I wanted - my professors wrote them and sent them in.

I wanted to write a nice - short - but quick thank you note. How should I start?

It's always nice to be on good terms, considering I may not get in this cycle and need another letter next year.

Thanks everyone!!

I just said something like "I wanted to show my appreciation for you having taken the time out of your busy sched. to write a letter on my behalf" and inserted a Starbucks gift card in each one.

You could always google 'thank you letter of rec' if you can't come up with something.

Get yourself a thank you note (not a card but the note).
If possible, you can mail it in. Go to your school website to find out. If not, you can always drop them off. It is kind of awkward to hand it off so if you do go to school, try to be ninja-like.
About the note, as you said, nice and short.

Here, I'll give a quickie:
Dear Prof. Blahgaragahalba,

I would just like you to know how incredibly thankful I am for you supporting my dental school endeavors. (make them feel like they didn't just spend an hour writing your letter for nothing)
It has been a pleasure knowing you, and I very much enjoyed your class (this is a big BS line and how much you can bs depends on how well you really know your professor)
I will continue to aim high and hopefully my dental dreams will come to fruition (be modest but show your aspirations, sonny boy).

Once again, thank you very much.
Sincerely,
BhlalalhahDesiblalbhaPrinceblabhalbhalh.

And for the love of Gob, man, don't stick a starbucks card in there. Everyone loves starbucks but it kind of cheapens your authenticity. Kind of like putting "My Kid's an Honor Student" bumper sticker on your car.

I did the exact same thing, but I had 4 writers and $5.00 gift cards each.

Yes, I agree with aelian - no Starbucks card. Just a nice, sincere thank you note.

When you write them again to notify them of your acceptance, throw in a celebratory Starbucks card.

I got all my teacher's thank you cards and $5 Starbucks gift cards. I think it's a nice touch. How could it be a bad thing.

Whenever I think about it, I always picture it being like you with your special other. After a great time, you don't give them money after your departure. That, my friend, is what hookers are for. And your professor certainly...waaait...going off track.
I just think if it is a gift they are going to forget in a month, then it is unnecessary to gift it. At least show you can put in some effort. Me for example, I took my professor out for lunch. And for my dentists, I baked sweets from scratch for the office. They'll remember that.

Plus, think of how awkward they'll feel drinking their venti white chocolate mocha latte, all alone, but surrounded by hipsters.

Right. I'm just going to skip the giftcard and write them a nice letter. Since I'm too far from my school, i doubt a lunch would be possible. ah man

Fart in a can, seal it up. Then send a thank you card with it.
