Let the games begin...
IMO, if you want a confidence boost on Thursday, take #6. I thought #7 was worse than #8. I took #9 yesterday and I did pretty well. I'm taking #10 sometime this week and that's probably it for me.
I just took 10 and the verbal ate me alive, I have no idea why.
I thought this verbal was easier than AAMC8, but I got a 9 in AAMC8 and a freaking 7 on AAMC10!
I might just try taking a test with 5 hr energy, a lot of my mistakes were just me not being able to concentrate and get the right ideas in passages.
My score keeps decreasing and my verbal is dying!
Atleast my Bio shot up to a 13 when it was stuck on 11 for three straight practice tests, but my PS keeps decreasing! lol....
ugh
I also have concentration problems and I'm wondering how to deal with that. I'm thinking/hoping that the adrenaline of test day and the whole "OMG THIS IS IT" will keep me focused enough. I'm a little worried that taking an energy drink will make me go crazy. Last time I tried it was for an AP test back in HS, and I ended up spending 10 minutes just spinning around in my chair.
been viewing this forum for the past couple of days.
Just took AAMC 8:
Total = 32 PS 10 VR 12 BS 10
Any last minute test taking tips?
good luck everyone! own this test on saturday. (and go lakers)
Reading the last couple of posts is motivating me, so thanks guys. I have been studying for this exam from last September (I paid zero attention in college, so that's the reason for the long and arduous MCAT journey), and my motivation is starting to hit zero. I am pretty sure it is burnout. I understand the material, but as soon as it comes to those questions, for some reasons the connections aren't there. Plus, my brain has been taking a vacation for the past couple of days. I wake up every other morning with a headache or vacant mind. All I am saying is my brain needs to come back ASAP because it would really suck to not do well when I have put in so much effort. Well, off to take a practice test...will update tomorrow on how it went.
wonderful... AAMC practice MCAT site decided to start undergoing routine maintenance in the middle of my PS section of Test #9 😡
Yeah, especially on a Saturday. I think I'm going to pack my snacks the night before. I'm probably rolling out of bed at 6, washing my face, brushing my teeth, dressing myself in the comfiest, laziest sweat or yoga pants and T-shirt I own, and leaving around 6:45 or 7. Hitting Dunkin' on the way for a giant coffee and a breakfast sandwich.
Speaking of which, what kind of snacks is everyone planning on bringing? Water, definitely. A granola bar, probably a piece of fruit, a string cheese and a peanut butter and banana sandwich (starch, protein, and fruit together... :thumbsup🙂.
I probably won't eat all of that but I want to make sure I have enough food if I become ravenous.
what did you guys think of BS on AAMC 9?
Just took AAMC 9 and got my highest score ever! 38 🙂 (13, 11, 14)
This feels so good because I wanted to have momentum going into the test. Part of me was considering to not even take my last remaining AAMC (10) just to maintain this feeling going into the test, but there is no way I would do that because maybe I can learn some more or identify a weak area of mine.
I felt like the grading on the verbal was extremely harsh though. I got a 35/40 on verbal and only got an 11. I thought that raw score deserves at least a 12. But I'm still thrilled with this score because I used to DREAD verbal and it used to pull my scores down, but ever since I have been confident, that changed. I also got 51/52 on BS and this also was uplifting because I have been feeling a little down about BS because I was getting 11 the past few exams.
I did drastically change my breakfast today compared to my other practice tests. I had a great filling breakfast and maybe that helped me out. I wil be eating the exact same breakfast on Saturday lol.
I would be thrilled with 35+ on the real deal.
Hey, thought I would put up my scores from the AAMC's practice tests I have taken this month. Everyone seems to be getting in the mid to high 30's- makes me feel kinda dumb! What sucks is the difference between high 20's and low 30's is only a few questions. Anyways...
(In this order taken about every 4 days).
#4: 9-9-10 (28)
#10: 9-7-11 (27)
#3: 9-7-10 (26)
#6: 10-9-8 (27)
#7: 13-9-9 (31)
#8: 10-9-11 (30)
At this point I thought I finally got it down, with only four days going into the test! Until I took test 9 today...
#9: 10-7-10 (27)
The VR to me is either hit or miss... it's like my brain blocks out all of the crap they are talking about an I'm just following the words with my eyes. Then I get to the questions and I'm lost.
Point of issue with how the mcat is graded... is that on a few of these tests, if I corrected only two questions (say one question out of BS, and a question in VR) my score would get pumped up two points (e.g., 28 to a 30). That just doesn't seem right imho. 😎
i agree, but i guess they have to have a cutoff point somwhere
just keep it up youre right there
Thanks! Right now I feel like with a fresh mind and some encouragement I can make it to the 30 range on the real day (which is all I really want... well other than getting into medical school of course). I'm from Texas and our application period opens May 3rd. When should we get back our scores? And why doesn't mcat give you your grade at the end of the test and just send you the results for the essays? Is there some magic being done during those weeks in-between test day and results day?![]()
I just took 10 and the verbal ate me alive, I have no idea why.
I thought this verbal was easier than AAMC8, but I got a 9 in AAMC8 and a freaking 7 on AAMC10!
ugh
The scores for 3/27 aren't too reassuring. It seems there's almost no one scoring between 30 and 35. It seems to be 29 and under (a lot more of those than usual, I think) and 35+'s. Very few between 30 and 35.
🙁
I see his/her account it on hold but at least I'm not alone on AAMC10 verbal. I thought it was easy too!! until I saw that 8 pop up there. eesh I'll have to try to go through it in the next couple of days.
Everyone hanging in there? 4 days!haha
do you guys find Princeton Review practice test to be way more hard than AAMC? Or is it just me?
