IMO, if you want a confidence boost on Thursday, take #6. I thought #7 was worse than #8. I took #9 yesterday and I did pretty well. I'm taking #10 sometime this week and that's probably it for me.

i agree i thought 8 wasnt as bad as 7...

im taking 10 on wednesday and that'll be it for me.....wow ive taken like 13 tests by now its crazy to see how my score has changed

did i ever mention how much i hate verbal?

I HATE VERBAL REASONING

felt good to get that out lol....doing 2 verbal passages every day from now until thursday and if my score doesnt go up by then, then the hell with it i did the best i could

I just took 10 and the verbal ate me alive, I have no idea why.

I thought this verbal was easier than AAMC8, but I got a 9 in AAMC8 and a freaking 7 on AAMC10!

I might just try taking a test with 5 hr energy, a lot of my mistakes were just me not being able to concentrate and get the right ideas in passages.

My score keeps decreasing and my verbal is dying!
Atleast my Bio shot up to a 13 when it was stuck on 11 for three straight practice tests, but my PS keeps decreasing! lol....

ugh

I also have concentration problems and I'm wondering how to deal with that. I'm thinking/hoping that the adrenaline of test day and the whole "OMG THIS IS IT" will keep me focused enough. I'm a little worried that taking an energy drink will make me go crazy. Last time I tried it was for an AP test back in HS, and I ended up spending 10 minutes just spinning around in my chair.

Funny you said this.
When I was taking my early practice tests last week, I was really anxious and scared on those since I didn't really know where I stood.

My verbal was 10 and 10.
Lately, my test taking is kind of like me running through the motions and feels like mere HW and my verbal (and concentration) dipped to 9 and 7.

I hope the adrenaline will do it. I need to start taking these practice tests more seriously.

I think I will take 3 tests over the next 5 days, and act like a man possessed and rather than focusing on finishing the test, I am gonna focus on FOCUS AND CONCENTRATION AND TOTAL DOMINATION!!!!!!!!!!
LETS DO THIS SHEHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to a wedding yesterday and it felt so nice to not think about the MCAT at all... well maybe once 😉 Back to work todayyy

its wierd when im redoing some of these passages especially when im familiar with the topics cuz i read it before...o well maybe itl help my confidence as im scoring 11s lol

good job man hopefully u can keep it up for the test day

Reading the last couple of posts is motivating me, so thanks guys. I have been studying for this exam from last September (I paid zero attention in college, so that's the reason for the long and arduous MCAT journey), and my motivation is starting to hit zero. I am pretty sure it is burnout. I understand the material, but as soon as it comes to those questions, for some reasons the connections aren't there. Plus, my brain has been taking a vacation for the past couple of days. I wake up every other morning with a headache or vacant mind. All I am saying is my brain needs to come back ASAP because it would really suck to not do well when I have put in so much effort. Well, off to take a practice test...will update tomorrow on how it went.

goodluck!
maybe you should take a day off if you can afford it.

i just realized how early i have to wake up

i havent woken up before 9 AM since highschool lol uh oh

Yeah, especially on a Saturday. I think I'm going to pack my snacks the night before. I'm probably rolling out of bed at 6, washing my face, brushing my teeth, dressing myself in the comfiest, laziest sweat or yoga pants and T-shirt I own, and leaving around 6:45 or 7. Hitting Dunkin' on the way for a giant coffee and a breakfast sandwich.

Speaking of which, what kind of snacks is everyone planning on bringing? Water, definitely. A granola bar, probably a piece of fruit, a string cheese and a peanut butter and banana sandwich (starch, protein, and fruit together... :thumbsup🙂.

I probably won't eat all of that but I want to make sure I have enough food if I become ravenous.

Hey guys,
It is 9:25 AM ET and e-mcat.com is down for maintenance. This is just a message for anyone who is planning on taking the test anytime soon. It will be back up at 10:00 AM ET. Good luck everyone!

wonderful... AAMC practice MCAT site decided to start undergoing routine maintenance in the middle of my PS section of Test #9 😡

i don't know i feel like fruit makes me even hungrier sometimes

im gonna be taking a coke (some caffeine for verbal lol), maybe a banana, and a granola bar
i dont want to take too much so that i feel full, and plus its only 3 breaks, and i don't usually eat when im taking practice tests
we should be out of there by 1PM i dont eat lunch until like 2ish anyways

I also thought it was hard. I scored 2 points below my last 3 tests (which were all the same) so I was just curious.. honestly I'm just so burnt out... I hope I can pull it together before saturday... I may just do minimal studying on friday

same here i cannot focus right now trying to do some of these practice problems i keep checking the 3/27 thread haha

im just going to do a verbal and then go over some old notes maybe. not enough focus to do all these passages right nowwwwwwww

Yup I think we're all over there right now, LOL.

I didn't think the bio in #9 was awful, but I did 2 (almost 3, because I was 1 question from a 14 on the test or two before) points lower than my best score. There were some questions I didn't like the way they were worded.

yeah true the wording is questionable i hope its not like that on saturday

crazy to say were up next for this damn thing ready to get it over with...

4 more verbal passages for me + aamc10 and im done

thank goodness for playoff basketball...its helping me keep my sanity right now

Oh no, wait, I'm talking out of my arse. I got a 12 on BS for #9, I think. I thought #6 had a lot of orgo, though, and I hadn't brushed up on my orgo stuff til after I took that test. It was the one I got a 15 in PS.

Has anyone taken #10 yet? What did you think?

I've taken ten recently. Thought the PS was easy, Bio wasn't bad, verbal about the same. P13 V10 B11 was my breakdown. Got a random 38 on Kaplan FL6. Taking with a grain of salt though. Good luck to everyone on saturday!!

Do yo guys do the writing section when you're taking the AAMC FL? I did for the first couple, but it's just soooooooooo boring so I stopped, but I think I will do it when taking #10 just for purposes of simulation.

To be honest, I haven't really looked at how to approach the writing sections. I figure just writing one paragraph for the explain/contrary/make decision for 3 paragraphs total and about 1 to 1.5 pages. I'm pretty much gonna wing it it with the examples. My goal is mostly just to not embarrass myself, hopefully I'll be fine.

Just took AAMC 9 and got my highest score ever! 38 🙂 (13, 11, 14)

This feels so good because I wanted to have momentum going into the test. Part of me was considering to not even take my last remaining AAMC (10) just to maintain this feeling going into the test, but there is no way I would do that because maybe I can learn some more or identify a weak area of mine.

I felt like the grading on the verbal was extremely harsh though. I got a 35/40 on verbal and only got an 11. I thought that raw score deserves at least a 12. But I'm still thrilled with this score because I used to DREAD verbal and it used to pull my scores down, but ever since I have been confident, that changed. I also got 51/52 on BS and this also was uplifting because I have been feeling a little down about BS because I was getting 11 the past few exams.

I did drastically change my breakfast today compared to my other practice tests. I had a great filling breakfast and maybe that helped me out. I wil be eating the exact same breakfast on Saturday lol.

I would be thrilled with 35+ on the real deal.

congrats! im going to try and use your verbal confidence on aamc10 tomorrow and on saturday loll

all i want is a 10 in VR anyways........

its so crazy to see the scores on 3/27 knowing that will be us pretty soon

WE GOT THIS

EK101 #13...got a 10 and i missed 3 questions and 2 questions respectively on the first 2 passages 🙁...not bad though

redid EK101 #1 and 2 and got 10s on both of those

so hopefully this trend will continue

Hey, thought I would put up my scores from the AAMC's practice tests I have taken this month. Everyone seems to be getting in the mid to high 30's- makes me feel kinda dumb! What sucks is the difference between high 20's and low 30's is only a few questions. Anyways...

(In this order taken about every 4 days).
#4: 9-9-10 (28)
#10: 9-7-11 (27)
#3: 9-7-10 (26)
#6: 10-9-8 (27)
#7: 13-9-9 (31)
#8: 10-9-11 (30)
At this point I thought I finally got it down, with only four days going into the test! Until I took test 9 today...
#9: 10-7-10 (27)

The VR to me is either hit or miss... it's like my brain blocks out all of the crap they are talking about an I'm just following the words with my eyes. Then I get to the questions and I'm lost.

Point of issue with how the mcat is graded... is that on a few of these tests, if I corrected only two questions (say one question out of BS, and a question in VR) my score would get pumped up two points (e.g., 28 to a 30). That just doesn't seem right imho. 😎

i agree, but i guess they have to have a cutoff point somwhere

just keep it up youre right there

Thanks! Right now I feel like with a fresh mind and some encouragement I can make it to the 30 range on the real day (which is all I really want... well other than getting into medical school of course). I'm from Texas and our application period opens May 3rd. When should we get back our scores? And why doesn't mcat give you your grade at the end of the test and just send you the results for the essays? Is there some magic being done during those weeks in-between test day and results day?

people claim its to adjust to curve, which i agree with somewhat. but it probably also has to do with the money i think

I just took 10 and the verbal ate me alive, I have no idea why.

I thought this verbal was easier than AAMC8, but I got a 9 in AAMC8 and a freaking 7 on AAMC10!
ugh

I see his/her account it on hold but at least I'm not alone on AAMC10 verbal. I thought it was easy too!! until I saw that 8 pop up there. eesh I'll have to try to go through it in the next couple of days.

Everyone hanging in there? 4 days! :scared: haha

The scores for 3/27 aren't too reassuring. It seems there's almost no one scoring between 30 and 35. It seems to be 29 and under (a lot more of those than usual, I think) and 35+'s. Very few between 30 and 35.

🙁

we're gonna do fine

but i don't know what to do anymore i feel so unmotivated right now because its so close

what should i do for the next few days other than AAMC10? im looking over verbal but i keep getting out of my chair after every passage. ive spent the last 2 hours doing 3 ochem passages lol

...hmm interesting. il check it out considering i have 2 hours before the laker game

LAKERSSSSSSSSSS

4 DAYSSSSSS

😎 it's me

Only a few more days left until we take a test.
We have taken hundreds of tests, and this test is no different.

I am going to risk a burnout, but I am taking a practice test Wednesday night and Thursday night. I'm going to do a practice EK101 both Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, I am just going to look over all the material once more, do about 3 practice verbal tests in EK and read up on the writing format.

My only real problem will probably be figuring out how I will wake up and be energized at 6:00 AM on Saturday, lol.

Might sound weird, but I really believe that this test is 50% preparation and 50% will power. Control your mind and envision owning the test!

I'd like to think that 10 was an exception with regards to the verbal.
I have been taking all my practice tests at night around 10 pm and having them end at 2 am. I am hoping that on test day, with me taking right after I sleep rather than right before, I will have more awareness, more energy and a better result. God willing...

Anyway, if you guys are really fretting, just watch this and chill- it's just a test and it won't kill you or take what's really important in life away:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdApOcplgIw

There are people on this Earth who have NOTHING and live in gruesome ways. Diseases, death to family members.
When you look at your life in retrospect, the MCAT score will be the last thing that crosses your mind.

btw i hope AAMC 10 isnt that bad, im taking it tomorrow and i really want to have some extra confidence for saturday

WE GOT THIS

do you guys find Princeton Review practice test to be way more hard than AAMC? Or is it just me?

theyre definitely harder, the verbal for sure

the sciences arent necessarily "harder" just more detail oriented. if anything having to extrapolate and infer stuff is harder on the AAMC

do you guys find Princeton Review practice test to be way more hard than AAMC? Or is it just me?

They are- a LOT.
TPR does this so they can guarantee improvement.

I took a full TPR test right before I took a few AAMC:
TPR #3: 10 PS, 7 VR, 10 BS
TPR #2: 10 PS, 5 VR, quit Bio
AAMC #4: 12 PS, 10 VR, 11 BS
AAMC #5: 13 PS, 10 VR, 11 BS
AAMC #8: 11 PS, 9 VR, 11 BS
AAMC#10: 10 PS, 7 VR, 13 BS

The decline can probably be explained with me not being as pumped and not having the adrenaline kicking as much as it was in the original ones.

TPR Verbal is NOTHING like the AAMC Verbal.
EK101 is usually similar to AAMC Verbals.
