Who's in? I just rescheduled from June 21st. I've been studying off and on since late march, but really started to kick it in about three weeks ago. Applying DO this cycle.

👍

Two more weeks!!!

Hope everyone that is going back to school has a good semester. I am teaching the advanced physiology lab to a bunch of premeds who know what specialization they want to be but have never looked at an MCAT practice test or material. :meanie:

Indeed! I am teaching a general chemistry lab to a bunch of pre-nursing and pre-med students who are mostly the same age as me. :scared:

Yah I was teaching Anatomy lab last semester to Nursing and Exercise science. Nothing more awful than exercise science majors showing up in gym clothes dissecting things. Don't forget you hold all of the power and they think of you as just another teacher.

How's everyone holding up? about 10 days left! a 27 will be good for me to be competitive at chicago and philly osteopathic schools, so ill be happy with that 🙂

I'm friggin' dyin' here! I'm stalking the 7/27 MCAT thread to see if theirs is released any earlier than the prospective date. I figure if theirs is released early, maybe ours will be released earlier, too. Monday is the last day for an early release.

As far as scores, my dream is to make a 33, would be happy with anything at 30 or above, but could probably get in to many of my osteopathic schools with a 27 like yourself. I applied to those two, plus Harlem, the two in AZ, the two in CA, and the one in NV.

GL

P.S. I'll probably unsubscribe the day before release. I can't stand to see all the 35+ and the two 40s that will post. It'd just be too disheartening. It happened to me last year and quite literally made me want to kill myself after making a 23.

Haha yea but its probably the ppl with lower scores not wanting to post it. and then theres ppl who will be like i got a 32, this sucks... the overtly douchey ppl! honestly i was just never that motivated to study mcat cuz i dont care about physics or verbal whatsoever. i dont think a lower mcat score means ull be a bad doctor. 🙂

Can we be any more similar? Never motivated to study because of physics. Every time I opened the physics BR I felt like puking and using whacking my head against the desk. Face palm every time I see physics!

i just started a quantum class last week.. lol it's gonna be fun

holy crap, we getting scores next week...... nervous! I do NOT want to take this thing again, so praying to god for 30+

Dude, I'm with you. I know some people retake 3 or more times. But not me. I'm not taking it again. I mean, I landed 2 interviews and a WL last year with a 23 and know I did far better this time. I applied broadly enough that I'm hopefull that I'll get in somewhere, even with a crappy MCAT. Still hoping for that 30+... GL everyone. This wait is like George Clooney getting his nails ripped out in Syriana.

Yeah this being my 3rd time, I might not look at the thread for a few days after if mine was horrible again... But I did feel great with this one... lets just hope it reflects my practice scores

this is my 2nd..

ps was like the same i thought for me, hoping for one point higher for a 13 😎
vr was the reason i retook with a whopping 6 the first time. this is the section that scares me the most because even before the first test my aamc verbal scores were 8s and 9s. this time i consistently got a 10 on the remaining aamc tests i had. fate is determined next week.. 😱
bs was really hard with the micro stuff the first time, and it was hard with the same type of stuff this second time. i landed a 9 the first time, with my scores for all aamcs not landing below 10. second time with remaining aamcs i kept the same consistent score, but fate will also be determined next week with this. if i get a 10 in this section, ill be ok because i improved.

if all things go right hopefully i can land 13/10/10 - respectable score 🙂

Seems like there is alot of retakers here. I'm sure most people do not want to retake it again but we done all we can and can only hope for the best. I also submitted my AMCAS and just waiting for this score, pretty nerve wrecking these days.

Anyone else reading the 7/27 and other exam dates posts after their score releases? I think I'm getting a bit obsessive. Lot of "what if" moments. It sucks our score release was pushed an extra day to Wednesday due to Labor day...I didn't really need one more day.

What have you seen? I was following the 7/27 thread to see if they released early, but unsubscribed after I realized they were releasing according to schedule the day before.

Every other test releases on Tuesday but since we have Labor day the Monday before our score releases they set it for Wednesday. I doubt it will be early.

Me, too. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting their scores early other than a "it's happened before" kind of thing. ::sigh:: Just a few more days...of drinking! LoL

We are going to have to start predicting scores soon...but I'm afraid to say anything because I have no feel for how I did.

Eh screw it gotta waste the time anyways:

AAMC Average: 34
Previous MCAT: 29O (9 10 10)
Expected Range: 28-34
Prediction: 32R (10 11 11)

Hello everyone! I've been following this thread, and thought I'd join in on the fun. The first few weeks for me were actually pretty good. I kind of pushed it out of my mind since I knew I would have a significant wait ahead of me. It starts to hit me about a week away and I have sporadic freaking out sessions...

Anyways, this was my third time taking the MCAT and I'm hoping for the best because my average practice scores went way up. What I did differently this year was took about 15 practice tests and did the private tutoring through Kaplan.

I've only applied to my in-state school the past 2 years since that's really the only place I want to go. First year: rejected. Second year: alternate list but eventually not accepted.

I'm hoping third time's a charm! Good luck to all of you!

Wompy,

I want to wish you good luck, but slightly worse luck than me 😉 Applying to UAMS for the first time.

I only took the UAMS CDA practice course, but I wanted to take a Kaplan as well. I, however, took the test the day before yours. So while I'm (hopefully) celebrating in the 8-3 thread, I'll send good vibes your way!

GL

nightmare i got a 7,5,15 and that added to a 27, i was so surprised i could add in my sleep now that i think about it

prediction time: 25-32

9, 11, 10, hoping for a 30!!! oh the wait is horrible. am ready for the disappointment, shall it happen lol

The only time I've disliked a long weekend...more time to play the "What if?" game.

If below my old score <29 ==> D.O. School for me
If same as my old score =29 ==> Well that was a waste of a year
If 30 - 34 ==> Maybe this M.D. thing will work out
If >34 ==> :wow:

**burp** O_______o 😱😎🙄😡😡😛:scared:😕😱🙂😳 sometimes im an emotional trainwreck, and only that many smileys can represent what i feel waiting for mcat scores

Thanks dude! I really appreciate it.

4 more days! Anybody having trouble sleeping at night?

Not so much trouble sleeping, but definitely a nervous wreck!

so how was everyones summer? anyone have a chance to travel? O______O

I made my way down to Destin, Florida for a week. I actually drove half way about an hour after I finished my MCAT and drove the other half on Sunday. Getting out on the open road helped my stress management a bit, but the real therapy was listening to the ebb and flow of the tides for a whole week.

Lol...

Haha somehow this thread always manages to soothe me and my nerves (guess not being alone really does make a difference!).

I get mini-panic attacks when I realize how close scores are getting to be released... and applications are due. 🙁 Hurts my feelings, too, cause going through all the admissions and stuff makes me realize what a failure I am academically hahahaha.

Cheers to everyone for the coming days, hopefully everything turns out well! 🙂)

I know I am late to the game...I didn't want to check in on this thread too early when I was still obsessing about the actual test itself, and then got busy and completely forgot about it believe it or not!

I felt generally good about PS and VR, and I am relieved to hear that the majority of you felt raked over the goals in the BS section like I did. The "2 passages" will live in infamy!

I ran all the way to the time limit on all 3 sections...which is very uncharacteristic for me! I am glad to hear I am not the only one.

I did not study nearly as much as I should have for this test...I had 25 hours worth of classes over the summer including ochem I, ochem II, and calculus among other classes..and the MCAT fell right between the last exam and the course final in calculus and ochem II...blah blah blah...excuses I know.

All in all though, I have a feeling between the curve and possible experimental sections, we will all be pleasantly surprised!

I am thinking positive thoughts for all of you guys! I sincerely hope you get the scores you want!

Went to Blowing Rock, NC for a week this summer and hid from the Florida heat in the mountains. Spent the first month of summer in Rhode Island working at Hasbro's Children's Hospital. The northeast makes South Florida seem like another country. I also had the chance to visit Vermont for the first time and my cousin at UVM. That school is in an amazing location if anyone is thinking about applying. Be warned I saw it during the summer not in the negative degree winter.

I felt like complete **** after leaving the exam... but is that normal?

I have no idea how I did...

Also, I looked at other forums and a lot of people thought they failed every section, but ended up doing very well...

What kind of exam is this?

Ok now I'm terrified because if i dont get a decent score tomorrow, I don't know where to go from here... :/

I feel basically the same. This is the second time for me too, and I am just really hoping that I am not wasting this year and the score pays off. The weekend took forever and I am just ready for tomorrow - and not ready at all at the same time!

Good luck, I am sure you will be :wow:ing tomorrow!!

You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and train hard for a re-take. This process about getting into medical school, succeeding in medical school, and ultimately being a great doctor isn't about how many times you fall down. No one is keeping score. It is about being able to recover and push on.

Don't worry, I am sure you did fine. After you have been in medical school about one day, your MCAT score will be all but a distant memory anyway, right?

man I'm so exhausted of being stressed out, whats the point in converting the old mcat format to cbt when the scores take eons to be released anyways! they should release the writing scores later, like they even relatively matter in the first place.... bleh, I know its dumb of me to be complaining when its a day more of wait... andd I'm repeating what every mcat test taker has said before... sigh, gotta figure out a way to spend this day without thinking about it =(

Retake the MCAT for a third time?

I seriously think that this exam was created by the devil himself.

This is great advice. I think many people don't realize that there is no set path to becoming a physician. There is no reason to believe that you must get accepted your first or even second year. I have heard inspiring stories of people applying 4+ times, and once accepted, going on to become successful and caring physicians. I also know of people who go to medical school at the age of 40+.

Personally, I know that the past two years of ultimate rejection have made me stronger as a person. It was hard getting rejected the first year. The second year, the alternate list process was very draining. It was also hard to be back where I started after everything (not in medical school). However, I am more mature now, and I think I will hit the ground running when I get accepted because two years of reflection have made me want it more. I also am certain that I am in it for the right reasons.

Retake the MCAT for a third time?

Trust me, it can be done.
