Blah, yes.

And wouldn't expect to hear much this week, either. I just called a school to ask what my status was, and was told that I should hear shortly after break, which makes me think they won't be too active these next few days. I think its safe to say, try and distract yourselves for the next week or so!
 
I don't know what it is but all of a sudden I want to go to Rochester, lol. Maybe it's that I seem to actually have a damned shot there (I'd probably say that it's the best school I have a very realistic shot at), or what, but suddenly it feels almost like my dream school.

Weird.

congrats 🙂 can I ask when you were complete? I've been complete for three weeks, and was told they would not make a decision for another 2 weeks or so (been sort of obsessive, haha)
 
Thanks. Weirdly enough, I got the complete e-mail on November 16th. They never found the first check that I sent in at the end of September so I sent in another a fews days before I was considered complete. On the phone, they said that my secondary application was received on the 4th of November but I sent it (from France) at the end of September.

Quick question. By the time August MCAT scores were released, I had most of my secondaries in and the others were submitted shortly after. That makes it over a month now, I know a lot of you have heard back already, so any ideas on how long these schools take?

Didnt apply to any of the schools that you did, but I'm in a very similar situation - secondaries in for well over a month now at 9 schools or so. I have heard back only from Pitt and Case Western; both rejections. I am going to assume that they will begin to come in more regularly next week.

Would anyone tend to guess that the "average accepted" scores go up for the august mcatters as our apps are in later than april mcatters? Meaning - say a school reports a mean accepted mcat score of about 31 and gpa of 3.5; even though the averages work out that way every year, the spots open for admission on the low end of that average are probably already taken or being highly considered. Any thoughts on wether or not august mcatters need a stronger app?

Uchicago=Pritzker? I haven't heard from Pritzker. As far as the the rest of your list, I only applied to Rochester and heard back 2 weeks ago. I had all my secondaries done, and waited until I got my score that Friday. Then I sent them all in one day, and the schools supposedly got my scores on Monday. All in all, I've heard back from 7 schools and feel extremely grateful that I haven't been rejected from any.

Hey Rooster. How did you hear back from Case Western? Did your status page change to reflect anything new and did you also apply to Cleveland Clinic at the same time or just Case? I'm in a similar boat with most of my secondaries in pre-MCAT release and just one school that waited on my LORs and secondary until afterwards (was waiting for MCAT score before submitting their secondary). Unlike a few of the all stars in this thread, I've only heard back from three schools thus far (15 more to go).

I can't find any data on AAMC's website confirming or denying a bias against August MCATers, but it would make sense to me. Since schools are already unendated with applications by the time they get ours, they probably already have their share of applications that aren't absolutely stellar (and therefore to get noticed later, I imagine you need a better app). That being said, as my premed advisor has said over and over again, it's much better to spend the extra time studying for the August MCAT and do well if you need to than take the April MCAT and bomb it if you're not ready. Next year it will be interesting to see how the app flow changes in response to the MCAT being offered on 19 different days.

No doubt, we are at a disadvantage. By the time I got my MCAT score back, one of my buddies (with the same GPA and 7 points lower on the MCAT...take that for what it's worth) had already been to 2 interviews and had his other 2 scheduled. He was already accepted to MCWisconsin, but has only been rejected by schools since then. I think that many people had already been to interviews by the time that we got those MCAT scores.

I think we are at less of a disadvantage to some of the competitive schools that are NOT rolling admissions, for obvious reasons. However, if I was giving application advice, my first piece would be APPLY EARLY!

wait, according to the status page, Penn doesn't announce final decisions until the week of march 19....hmmm.

lots of people received the updated application message last week from Penn. some didn't. most equate it to black hole status. but, at least one person has gotten off "the list" and into the interview realm. congrats.

Mayo finally came through with that phone screen invitation. The admissions office had emailed me a week ago to be sure that I was going to take Biochem before possible matriculation. I emailed her back that I was, then I followed up with a phone call to make sure that was all I needed. She said yes, and then said that I should expect to be contacted again soon.

Thanks, I was complete about a week earlier, but I hear MCAT score has a lot to do with when you get an interview. My MCAT is a bit lower than yours so hopefuly they get to me soon.

I was complete once the August MCAT scores came out 10/14. I was actually rejected earlier by email than the date I put. I just forgot to put it on the thread until now. The email said they were unable to interview me. They got back to me in about 3 1/2 or 4 weeks so you could be hearing soon, especially if they reject you. They have so many applicants I swear Watson and Crick would get rejected for "lack of research experience."
