It's been a couple of weeks, if not more since I've sent out all my secondaries. And still not a single ray of hope, except for the emails that have stated my applications are complete. I would feel a lot better if I just got ONE interview invite for now..WHY oh WHY is that so hard?!? RARRRRRRRRRRRRRR :meanie: ok im done...anyone else feeling me on this? JOIN THE CLUB and vent away...

Just popping in to give you some encouragement. I was in your place two years ago, and finally got two interviews at the end of the cycle... only to get rejected by both. Two years later I got interviewed early and accepted before I was even ready by one of the schools that rejected me post interview last time.

If you really want it, you'll make it. Hang in there. You might have to reapply, but you can make it happen.

I have to agree with you a little bit on this one. I was fortunate to get my apps in ASAP and I've gotten 2 interviews. 1, i was waitlisted at, and the 2nd is in november. I'm thinking along the lines of my one in November is my last shot.

As time progresses and no other interviews are calling, the applications to SGU and ROSS all of a sudden start to sound more enticing 😳

I have one interview invite for november the rest i'm on hold because my mcat score wasnt the greatest and theyre waiting for my august mcat scores. Those come out this friday (tomorrow) or saturday. I need hope. :luck:

i have a gut feeling that one year from now i will be venting here a lot:laugh:

Guys (and gals)! DO schools typically interview all the way into April. I interviwed in February for the school I'm in now. I didn't even apply there 'til January. And, no matter what you hear, schools have NOT filled their classes by then. Most of them save spots for the entire cycle because they don't want to be full when a 4.0 GPA 40 MCAT applicant, who's a little on the procrastinating side, applies in March. 7 of the 13 applicants who interviewed on my day in February ultimately got accepted and 6 are now attending. It's still REALLY early in the cycle. Some schools have only had one or two interview dates so far. This is a LONG-TERM thing; give it a chance to progress a little. If you don't get any interviews by January 1, then apply to some more schools.

This is where things for me get a little scary. You say you didn't interview until February-- but that makes sense because you didn't apply until January. I was complete in September. I'm under the impression that, "If they ain't callin' by now, they ain't ever gonna call." Besides, you said 7 out of 13 interviewers got in for you. Well, 46% rejection rate after interview is pretty high and there's a good chance I could be a part of that 46%. I've been alternate listed at 1 interview, and I've got 1 more interview left, and i've listened to Eminem's "Lose Yourself" on my iPod so much my ears are about to bleed.. can you blame me? :scared:

i think the previous poster is right.
Schools may still be waititng to see the whole pool of applicats, don't forget that there was whole bunch of first time MCATers in august so just relax.
it's gonna be fine

[this isnt directed to you, but..] What the hell is the point of applying early when they are just going to hold your application until everyone else's gets in?

No, I can't blame you, but I do know that some schools have really only begun interviewing. You should double-check to make sure that you are complete everywhere. Files get lost at a med school just as easy as they do at any business in the US. Things get misplaced or put on the wrong stack every day. I don't know where, or to how many places, that you applied, but now is the time to start calling these places in person. Get someone on the phone and ask questions. Be a pest! This is your life you are talking about! Find out what the status is at every place you applied. If they don't want you, then apply to 5 more places. How badly do you really want to be a doctor? Show them! If you wait until May to find out that they misfiled your application...then it's too late.

because when they go back to review the earlier files, you will be one of the first they pull. Plus, the DMU director told me they review old files about once a month to see if they would like to interview yet. I think it is too early to start worrying like this, give another month or so.

Like DrKuba said, it's only been two weeks since you submitted your secondary. For some places, it took me over a month to receive an interview invite.

Don't think that your last shot is November, DO schools interview well into next year. Best of luck on your November interview!

Aren't you applying to more schools where you can get an interview at? Do your personal best at each interview and take each of them as a potential acceptance. Please relax though!

well if this will make anyone feel better one of my friends didn't get interviewed untill mid april and now he is in med school.
And do check with each school because things get lost more often then you think.

this was the case with my friend above.
His file was complete at that school in february...so there you go.

Cee, you can also call VCOM and find out what you can do to get off the waitlist. Maybe you can do more volunteering/shadowing, get another LOR, or update them with fall grades. maybe some updates will help you out. and try to stay postitive, you still have another interview so concentrate on that. good luck.

Very good advice. I was complete at UVM in early July and I called them up. They said they should have gotten to my application already and they moved it ahead in the pile. So a friendly call does not hurt.

my point exactly...it's nothing to loose.
Always better to find out at the source.

I have a friend who is an orthopaedic surgeon now. Quite a few years ago he interviewed at DO schools and was accepted at Nova. He turned them down because he was told that he was 1st on the wait list at his "first choice" school, and should have no problem getting an acceptance before school starts. About 2 weeks befre school was supposed to begin, he finally called and asked what was up. They told hom that they must have "misplaced" his file, but the class was full now and he was welcome to apply again next year. He was soooo pissed that he ended up going to PA school. He was a PA for 8 years before finally applying to DO schools again.

The point is that you really need to keep a close eye on the application process. Anything can, and will, happen if you are not intimately involved with the application process on a daily basis.

this is such a brutal process. it's like we wished we could slow time to get that last bit of mcat prep in but then speed time to get through the test and fast forward months to get the results. slow time to compose a personal statement but speed time to get the application/gpa verification. slow time to solicit letters of recommendation but speed time to have them complete. speed time to get the primary out and the secondaries to our desk only to slow time to fill them all out. speed time to get some interview requests. speed time to get interview/application results. slow time to pay the deposits...

:barf:indeed. it makes me want to vomit.

this whole process is a perfect weed out....who has strong will....survival of the fittest

i'm on the alternate list. they want me to take upper level science classes in spring 2007 and report the grades to them. by then, their class will be full and my ass will be 1/2 of the way to Grenada. but i'm going to register for Spring 2007 classes at my local university. my plan is that if i don't get accepted at my 2nd interview, i'm gonna take those spring 2007 classes and apply to SGU and ROSS. it's my last line of hope... so much for getting your apps in early 😳

well if American admissions process makes you vomit check how "vomitprone" is the Polish one

you should be happy you have options other then bribing somebody on admission's board.

And Saba or SGU is also an option.
Of course no one wants to live in 3rd world country so called paradise but if you really want to be a doctor you can survive this too.

but first relax and get rid of this bad energy. Call up some schools tomorow and check on the status of your applications.
And be patient...do something for yourself, something you enjoy and try not to stress over this so early. Many ppl aren't even done with secondaries. Those schools have tons of applications. Do you expect them to invite you 2 weeks after you submit your secondaries?
It's a tedeous process, it takes time and it's biurocratic mess. Give it a time and stop stressing over something you are not able to change.

It will be all good. Trust me.

ale w polsce jest za darmo😀

darmo= paying K's to some alcoholic doc on the admission's board LOL

i didn't pay couse i wanted to save that guy from drinking himself to death:laugh:
no seriously
I am so happy i decided to come back here. I do not regret it, i won't even regret it if i don't get in next cycle. I will be trying untill they are sick and tired of reading my file ...again and again:laugh:
i am not taking a "NO" for an answer.

with all that corupt bs going on there that would be suicidal of you...no kidding

To give y'all hope: last year I got all my apps in by mid-August at the latest. While I did get several interview invites early (4 or 6 by labor day weekend), I heard nothing until November. Then I got an invite in November, January, and even one in March. Go figure.

Keep the faith. Gently keep in touch with schools, make sure your files are complete, send updates if appropriate. And (you're gonna hate this one) be patient. That's the worst part. Grab a beer/wine/martini and a box of chocolates/bonbons and sit tight.

Im just going to echo what everyone else has been saying. Be patient. The whole process is a crap shoot and you will be asking yourself "WTF?" more times than I care to recall. My philosophy is this arduous undertaking is like waiting for water to boil; as long as you're looking at it nothing happens. Turn away, leave the room, go on a f'n hike for chrissakes. Immerse yourself in something else and when you finally do hear it will be much sweeter than you imagined. Everything yields to persistence and you will do fine. CHEERS!

This is for the original post. I was in your situation and my theory was "No news is good news." It means you haven't been rejected, but I know how you feel with all the anticipation building.
