I see alot of people make this thread for their MCAT date. I was unable to find one for this date so I took the liberty to make one. Please share what you have found works or does not work for you?
I can't speak directly to how the test will work out if you haven't studied. I imagine that the scores might be less representative because there may be topics you are familiar with on some tests so you score better and topics you are totally unfamiliar with on others. So, it may have more to do with the luck of the draw as far as which topics show up on your actual test. Just my thoughts, though.
Is it bad that it's not good enough just for me to do well, I want others to fail?
Nope. In fact, I wouldn't lose any sleep at night if you failed after that comment. Is it bad that it's not good enough just for me to do well, I want others to fail?

Not only is it bad-it's time to consider another profession. You are obviously not suited to one that takes integrity. Is it bad that it's not good enough just for me to do well, I want others to fail?

Well said! Good luck everyone! See you on the other side!Whether you've been prepping for months or weeks (hopefully not a few days) we've all invested a great deal of time and lost a little bit of sanity through this process! I wish all of you the best of luck!
I know that were all freaking out and hoping for miracles right about now, but extraordinary things happen. Most people get right around their average score, but some people do substantially better. THIS MIGHT BE YOU! Don't doubt yourself now!
From now on get off of this site---reading everyone else's freakouts are just going to make you more nervous. Get away from the computer, eat good food, do some light review, and BE HAPPY. You all are extraordinary people, and if you really want to pursue medicine as a career, you will find a way with whatever numerical value the AAMC decides to bestow on you.
PEACE
On that note-good luck to all the test takers tomorrow. I will be rooting for everyone!Whether you've been prepping for months or weeks (hopefully not a few days) we've all invested a great deal of time and lost a little bit of sanity through this process! I wish all of you the best of luck!

According to the dictionary integrity is simply the adherence to moral and ethical principles and soundness of moral character. Hoping other people fail suggests this poster lacks moral character. I hope I never go to a medical professional that takes pleasure based in other peoples failures.

Seriously everyone good luck. I'm going to try and not come on here tomorrow before my test. Seeing how it's a 2pm western time, the east coast 8am'ers ar going to be done before I start my test.
Should I browse to possibly get a bit of insight into the test from the early birds or is it best to avoid this site like the plague, as to not get psyched out and anxious?
Decisions decisions decisions
Good luck guys.

Sortof. The Ebola passage was probably graded, because the experimental passages show up on future tests. I'm assuming they don't put failed experiments on the practice...
Possible. It wouldn't really matter, because if you talk about anything specific (probably more than "ZOMG HARD" or "LOL YAY") they can revoke your score and ban you from ever taking the test again. So let's not do that 👍
In 4 hours I'll be a few minutes into the PS section. Good luck everyone!
Basically accepted my fate. I'll do a runthrough of what I missed on AAMC 11 yesterday, but most of it was math errors or not reading thoroughly (answering with velocity instead of kinetic energy, etc.) because I was flustered.
When it comes down to it, the exam could have anything. It could be everything I know, or it could be all of my weaknesses. But the reality is that my strengths outnumber my weaknesses, so unless there's 14 passages on magnetism, elimination reactions, and the kidney, I think I'll be alright.
👍
If there is electrochem tomorrow, my PS score will probably drop by 2 (at least!!) from my average......
Had I studied gen chem itd probably not be a big deal, but kinetics and electrochemistry will kill meeee.
I think of the galvanic cell, and remember the anode is negative. Thus electrons run 'spontaneously' from negative to positive, and current is the opposite because Ben Franklin was too busy with French girls and syphilis to get the positive/negative distinction right.
For the electrolytic cell, the signs are backward (anode is positive), but the flows are the same (e- to cathode, i to anode) because electricity is being applied.
Then AnOx RedCat (RedPlussyCat is good for galvanic, just don't get it confused with electrolytic!) - anode oxidation, cathode reduction. Through in some LeoGer for good measure and apply a magnetic field, and I'll get the whole passage wrong 👍
I also remember the formulas just by patterning:
F
V
U
Then EE, dd
F E
V E d
U d
Then add in q and F
F Eq
V Ed
U Fd
Or something like that. It'd be better to remember all the permutations (V = kq/r^2, etc.) but from those three formulas plus F = kqq/r^2 I can derive most anything.
Also optics. I hate optics.
Yeah. I don't know why EK didn't present optics in a more concise memorize-format.
Convex mirror/diverging lens = negative, virtual, upright. The essence of a pre-med on SDN.
Concave/converging = positive, real, inverted.
If you're inside the focal length, it's all negative, virtual, upright. I think. I'm not 100% sure about these, but that's how I've been doing it.
What AAMC 11 made me realize is that I can do pretty much all of it, I just can't instaregurgitate it. I've also never practiced the writing sample before, so that should be a fun addition today.
Man... how do you guys do so well on WS without studying? I kinda regret for not starting earlier; some of these prompts are harder than I thought
You guys are right; US schools don't really place too much emphasis on WS. But I'm actually Canadian, and schools here want high scores on WS. 2 of the schools in Ontario actually has a Q cutoff (can you believe that??), and there are only 5 schools in Ontario.
I will be applying for schools in the US and Canada this summer, so.. yeah.... that's why I'm slightly worried and decided to come on SDN and rant. 😳
Really advise that you take it easy tonight...don't think it will help your performance tonight if you overexert yourself. Good luck - you know you have it in you.
