***The Official NYU Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

if you go online, search for IBR calculator on google. click on one of the links and input your information (loan amount, interest rate, starting salary).

as a GD right out of school in the tri state (ny/nj/philly pa area) area there's a slim chance that you can make enough to pay off a 300k+ loan in 7-8 years if you live on your own. It's really not feasible. i'd prob say more like 10-15 if you're smart about it. The job market in the area is terrible. You'll be lucky to get consistent per-diem gigs at different offices.

If you specialize that's another story, however

Ya i believe we got wait listed or denied because I believe via email is an acceptance im guessing. What are your stats? I have a 3.2 and AA20/TS21

I've heard that someone got accepted without an email. Or maybe it's just my optimistic way of thinking to make myself feel better.

Did anyone else here interview on the 20th?

If the person was asking about my stats they are 3.4 20/20/20 with my two lowest scores being 2 19's in GC and QR.

I guess it is possible that it could be an acceptance, but it seems like both of those people who received no e-mail were from NY. I'm from California so it seems like I was rejected or waitlisted. Just frustrated at this point since I got no e-mail today and I really thought my interview went extremely well.

Just frustrated and unsure what I possibly did wrong or didn't do well.

I feel your pain. I have very similar stats as you.

But I guess even if we're put on the waitlist, there's still hope. I was just wondering if anyone know what one could do to improve their chances after they have been waitlisted.

Interviewed on Feb 15, and got accepted Feb 28 via email...best day of my life. I'm from Canada...anyone other Canadians here accepted. So excited to start my dental career with NYU...what an amazing school. Good luck to everyone :)

So you guys interviewed on the same day but accepted on different days? I guess there is some hope!

Interviewed Oct. 26th, waitlisted Dec. 3rd...accepted March 4th!! I kept in contact every 3 weeks or so...let them know I really wanted the acceptance...kept talking and emailing until I received a call from Dr. Mejia. She talked to me personally for 10 minutes or so to make sure NYU is what I really wanted, then offered to take me off the waitlist! Soooooo excited!!

AA 22; TS 21; oGPA 3.36; sGPA 3.52

I interviewed February 25th and was notified of my acceptance today by e-mail. When I called earlier today, they told me that if I interviewed and was accepted, I would receive an e-mail today. Otherwise, notification of waitlist or rejection (and acceptance package) would come by mail.

Just wondering, has anyone interviewed at NYU and been rejected? (or not waitlisted) Thanks.

I was wondering how is the job market after one graduates...i mean after having this much amount of loan as nyu is not a cheap school how are the job prospects out there..i have heard its pretty bad for associates so i am just wondering..i have got into nyu but still the whole prospect ofhaving around 300k in loan with additional interest is pretty daunting....i would like to know what others are doing as everyother person accepted will also be in a similar situation...also i dont have a green card which mean i have to go the regular h1b route so how is it for ppl like me..i hope to hear some gud things here..

do they still sending out for interviews ??

Got interview on Mar. 1st, and got the acceptance letter on Mar. 4th. I am super happy!
I am international student. Wish everyone who is still waiting good luck!

Is it possible to get waitlisted and not get invited for an interview this late in the application cycle?

Anyone heard back from the waitlist? I'm thinking much of the movement will happen post-April, but just checking. The wait is just killin' meeeeee!

I called them today and the admission officer said that they are done with interviews for this cycle. Looks like I better reapply for next year.

Interesting... Dr. Mejia said they were still reviewing applications. I was hoping for an NYU interview as well :(

Hey, I interviewed the same day and I called last Monday (March 4) and they told me that if you were accepted, you would have received an e-mail that day (I received mine around 1PM).

I heard they hold interviews every week, but idk when the next exact date available. You'll probably be able to get one end of this month or in the beginning of April.

Does anyone know what the academic audit is, and what we need to do for it? In the acceptance package it says "Further instructions are to come, when the academic audit begins in March 2013." I'm just curious since I haven't received any further instructions, and its mid March.

Don't fail. Also, I'm assuming we get more info once out deposit is sent in?

Hi, I don't mean to stray off topic, but would you happen to know if we would also be getting more information regarding the health requirements (TB test, medical exam, etc) pretty soon? My friends who are going to other schools are already getting it done but I don't know of any NYU students who have gotten anything in a package regarding this matter. Like, can we just go to a doctor and do it or does NYU send us a specific form we need completed?

Also, in case you are wondering, I have already sent in my second deposit but have not received any more information from NYU other than a "Thank you, we got your deposit".

Thank you so much in advance to anyone who can answer this.

I have no clue either. I just mailed my deposits in. Try the facebook group?

i went to nyu on the 11th to drop off my 2nd deposit before heading to work and still saw ppl interviewing...

Got my letter today! My rejection letter, that is...

I hope I don't irritate anyone by going *slightly* off topic again, but I thought this thread was the best place to ask:

For those of you OOS who have been accepted and know for sure that you will be attending NYU in August, how are you going about searching for a living situation? How do you find roommates/Are you considering roommates? I know that FB is quite popular but is there any other method?

I think I am just going to find someone on the FB group

Ah, I see. I deleted my facebook account about 3 years ago and didn't want to make another one just for this purpose but I guess I will have to as there is no better method...

yea, I have no clue how I am going to find a place. I think as soon as school is done (at the end of april) I'm just going to post on there asking for anyone to take me in lol.

I guess most of us are in the same boat, and I have no idea when to start looking for a place or go about securing a place. I assume a lot of rooms will be available around April/May/June when school finishes and students move out but I really want to start paying my rent on August. New York apartment/studio rents are ridiculously high and I don't want to pay two or three months in advance when I am not even starting school yet..

I am in the same situation, doesn't help that I am from California and will be traveling out of the country till mid July SO I have to secure a place and roommate ACROSS country sometime soon before it starts getting super hectic. I am hoping to move in early/mid August. I think orientation is getting pushed back till the 26th so no need to move in earlier than August (save whatever you can before getting screwed by Manhattan rent!)

I thought about this, and came to the conclusion that ww will get screwed one way or another because if we start rent in August, we will graduate in May and thus will have to pay a couple of months after graduation (assuming you pick the same place for all 4 years)

Are you guys all in the Facebook group? Should we reveal our real names? I think we are all looking for the same things

Maybe we can start some sort of roommate thread on SDN, especially since some of us don't have Facebook.

OMG, you're totally right. I didn't even think about what would happen four years down the road. But then again, I am assuming that I would work in New York for a while after I graduate (I do intend to return to Cali after some time if I can). Either way I do expect to lose some money as I am sure the apartment owners in NY know how to get every penny from us.

deleted post because already got several PM's--Thank you!
