***The Official NYU College of Dentistry C/O 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

also, is it true that once you get an interview, your interview is all that matters in achieving an acceptance or does the committee review your whole application over again? I am confused on that concept
Interview is not all that matters in achieving acceptance. They will look at your stats as well alongside other things. However, NYU Waitlists a lot of people because of yield protection. My interview went very well and my stats are well above average yet I got waitlisted.

what does that mean "yield protection"
have you shown interest and submitted a letter of intent to them?

Yield protection is when a school waitlists/holds off on accepting some highly qualified applicants (Not saying all highly qualified applicants got waitlisted but some) on the ground that they’ll most likely receive offers from cheaper schools. Yes I have sent them a letter of intent

wow thats so strange. have you gotten any acceptances anywhere else or is NYU your only choice?

Good luck everyone with interviews! Current D2 here let me know if you have any questions about the school and/or the interview!
Do you know which interview is more important? The faculty or the admissions?

Definately your faculty one. The admission doesn't really count tbh, they just ask you really basic stuff like what do you think about nyc, how would you adjust to life here and make sure your prereqs are done.

Hi everyone, I applied to NYU just last week. Does anyone know if I still have a shot at an interview?
I have a 3.8 GPA, 3.72 SGPA, and my dat scores are BIO-21, Chem-21, PAT 20,and RC-18. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Out of curiosity how long did it take you to get the supplemental fee email ?

I think your chances are still pretty solid, given your competitive GPA and good DAT scores, hopefully you hear backk soon 🙂

I haven't received a separate supplemental fee email yet. I have only paid the $108 on the ADEA website. Can you please tell me how much the supplemental fee is?

Thank you so much! Do you remember how long it took you to get that email? And is it only after you pay the supplemental fee, they look at your application?

Yeah once you pay the fee they review your app. I think it takes like a week or so

what kind of questions should we ask during the interview to show real commitment and dedication to NYU dentistry?

It was after the application was reviewed and then they sent me a link to pay in mid-August (submitted late July), so roughly a week to 2 weeks or so

So they first review then ask for the fee. That's odd because for most schools it's been pay the fee then review the application.

Received invitation for NYU today. I would love to ask for help and advice from current student!

Yeah, i had to pay that $80 when i set up the NYU portal app (the separate fee from ADEA). Most-all of their updates will be on that platform

Anyone know the acceptance rate after the interview or how full the class is for NYU?

the class is not close to full. Its still very early I believe
I saw somewhere that 50% of the interviews get accepted post december. not sure how accurate this is.

is NYU your first choice?

Got an interview invite from NYU this morning, I'll be turning it down so hopefully one of you can take my spot!

do you have to email them turning down the offer or do you just do not respond to it?

It would be better to email them, that way both parties are on the same page, and the quicker they can give it to someone else

You can choose to not reply and they'll take you off after 2 weeks. I just sent a quick email, they didn't reply but on my portal it says that my application was withdrawn.

Do they call or send an email to notify you for an interview ?

Just got accepted! Congrats to everyone who got in and to those who didn’t hear back yet, keep your hopes up!

Did anyone receive an interview and have anything lower than an 18 on any section of the DAT? I believe that’s their cut off and I have a 17 in reading.
