Hey don't beat yourself up. We were told during our interview that a waitlist doesn't mean that you didn't meet their criteria. Dental students and the head of admissions said that a decent amount of students get off the waitlist. There's always hope so don't give up yet.

Can I ask what are your stats?
AA19 TS19, my GPA was below average but I have been working for a federally funded program that works with the low income population for the last 2 years. I think played a major role in my acceptance.

Yeah you do. I spoke to someone from admissions for ~40 minutes a couple days ago. If you did well enough on your interview and gave a letter of intent then that will weigh positively in your interest. Remember they interview to March so they are probably giving others a chance.

Do anyone know how to join the Facebook group? I have requested to join but nobody in the group confirms it

So it says I have until 2/15 to fill out the forms and deposit.. if I don’t accept right away they won’t withdraw my offer right? I think someone else mentioned their offer was withdrawn so I just want to confirm.

I JUST GOT OFF THE WAITLIST FROM NYU!!!
I was waitlisted on Dec 2nd.

omg congrats!!! Did you do anything in specific that you think helped get you accepted off the waitlist? I am currently waitlisted but have sent a LOI and an update email.

is this your top choice?

would you say your interview went very well?

I think my first interview with the faculty member went well. She asked a lot of hard questions such as why are your DAT scores average, why did you get low grades, and what makes you the better applicant

The second interview not really. the committee member just asked surface based questions and no questions that really got to know me

Is anyone else concerned about that $5000 deposit? It's stressing me out to know that might be a roadblock to accepting the seat.

It goes towards your tuition cost if i'm not mistaken. No need to stress unless you plan on putting your deposit down and not attending.

What if I'm dirt poor.. want to attend NYU.. and I can't come up with $5000?

NYU is like 650k+ for 4 years including living and interest. I'm freaking out and I haven't even interviewed. Either you have the capitol or you take out loans and spend the next 40+ years paying it off (like everyone else). I don't know your situation but if you want to talk about it and get some perspective, feel free to DM me.
