How did you all receive your interview invites? Was it by email from Corky or in the mail?

Pretty sure tigerteeth is right. I just got accepted and interviewed on 2/15. Very excited but it hasn't really sunk in yet..... off to the gym haha

hey for those of you who already received the acceptance package, did the school call you to inform you about the acceptance first then send you the package?

NVM...received acceptance package today via UPS, no call in advance, interviewed at Mar 1. Good luck everyone!

was it an actual package or something that goes into your mailbox?

I would assume its prob a wait list if we do not get the package today/tomorrow. =/

Thanks for the info emory. Also... we interviewed together. I was the girl who sat next to u and we exchanged contact info! 🙂 I think we even had the same interviewer... :X

Yeah we did. I'm not keeping my hopes up at this point. But who knows. It's especially hard for me since I do not have any acceptances yet. Just 4 wait lists, waiting to hear from Penn and then UNLV is also giving a decision this week.

Same here, 5 interviews and 2 waitlists (plus likely a third from another school), and who knows about Penn at this point. I haven't even heard from my state school either. Ahhh!!!!! I hope we get in somewhere.
 
did they mention how many seats were still open when the interviews happened for the week of 3/1?

No they explicitly left that info out. They said they accept people from every interview and that there was space left in the class. I wish they were more transparent. Penn doesn't even share the number of interviewees that are accepted in previous cycles. Just # interviewed and # enrolled.
 
So if we haven't heard back yet it is an automatic rejection or could it be for waitlist... or is there still hope for an acceptance?
 
I haven't hear anything so im assuming WL/rehection but it doesnt seem like many people are posting acceptances so who knows.....

Also interviewed 2/28 and haven't heard anything. At this point I think the chance of getting an acceptance is pretty slim given that people who interviewed the same time have already received acceptances. 🙁

yea im losing hope. im hoping the other schools will come thru, even if it's after april 1st.
 
I interviewed 2/22, still haven't heard back. Anyone else hear anything? :help:

Maybe they are done until 2nd deposits are due?
 
When I interviewed (2/28) we were told there were seats available. One of two things is true: Either they haven't extended any offers despite the seat openings, or they have and we don't know abt it bc those ppl aren't on sdn. Sorry for the shorthand I'm on my phone.
 
Does anyone else remember Corky saying we would all definitely hear back before April 1st? If that’s the case then we should all hear back either way by the end of next week.
 
I actually got a letter in the mail yesterday soon after i wrote my post...i got waitlisted :[
 
Well, the letter says i would be on the alternate list and it asked for me to fill out a form and return it to them. Does anybody know if being on the alternate list is different from the waitlist at Penn? My guess is that it means the same thing but my friend who is a current Penn dental student asked what an alternate list is so I wanted to clarify!

It's def the same. Schools do not have both an alternate and a wait list. But I did hear that the wait list at Penn is selective, meaning it's better than hearing nothing.
 
I think about 2 people that interviewed on the same day as I did got acceptances and another girl whom I exchanged contact info with decided to go to another school.
 
I haven't heard of anyone from 2/28..only 2 from 3/1

But anyone know if they let you know by April 1 about some sort of status update?
 
i called today and was told we *may* have to wait until after april 1. which is unsurprising because that's the deadline for people holding multiple seats- dschools can then make additional offers after that point. i suspect people waiting to hear back will have to wait until after april 1 across the board because of this very reason, not just for penn. good luck and if there are any updates please post here.

First of all congratulations to all the people who have gotten into UPenn so far and to those who are waiting back to hear good luck! I am currently a second year medical student at another school, but have received a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Medical Fellows Grant to do research with an investigator at UPenn starting in the summer for one year. If anyone on this thread is decided about UPenn medical school and is interested in having a roommate for the next year, then I am looking for someone to live with. I already have some places I have looked/inquired about that are within walking distance to the medical school and I know a ton about the area since I lived their last summer, also to do research, and am always visiting the city.

Please PM me if you are interested and once again good luck to all those waiting!
 
anyone heard back about being placed on the waitlist or anything?

From what I understand from reading the ADEA Traffic Rules and talking to people at the various admissions offices, there should be a fair amount of movement on the waitlists starting in April, because of the following two factors:

1. Many schools have second deposits due April 1. For some people holding onto multiple offers and trying to decide between them, having to put down additional deposits will motivate them to pick one, or at least narrow it down. Before April 1, there is less motivation to let go of a spot, assuming one has already put down one's first deposit. I could be wrong, but I think that very few people will spend the money to put down all deposits at more than one school.

2. Sometime around April 5 ADEA will notify the schools at which an applicant has put down full deposits as to whether that applicant is holding spots at other ADEA schools. If an applicant is holding multiple spots, each school will then contact that applicant to tell him or her that the school will withdraw its acceptance, but the school has to give the applicant a minimum 15 day notice. This implies that, if you've put full deposits down at multiple schools, you will still have time to commit to one of them.

So based on that, I would expect a lot of movement from #1 and some amount of movement from #2. So if you're on a waitlist at this point, don't despair. There are plenty of people will multiple offers, and in the end they can only attend one program.
