*** The Official Roseman Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

I tried to join the fb group for class of 2020 but seems like the group is closed thus there is no option to join it...weird

Does anyone know roughly how many are on the waitlist?

I believe 40 in the morning and then 40 in the afternoon.

Yeah that is correct, and it is ridiculous how many people they interview.. They literally interview approximately their entire class size in a single day. Multiply this by the number of however many days they interview during the cycle and you have a system that makes the waitlist a graveyard.

Did everyone get placed on the alternate list? And do we really need to send all those government documents if we're just wait listed?

Just received an interview invite, but will likely be declining. Hopefully someone else waiting will get it

I don't think you are officially on the wait list until you send them!

Sent from my SM-G920V using SDN mobile app

20 AA 21 TS, 3.4 GPA and sent out 5th batch. Also hadn't heard anything until the invite today
What was your status on AADSAS portal? Do we get interview after the status goes under review or app complete?

Okk I'm waiting for mine to change to under review. Hopefully I don't have to wait weeks after it goes under review

Hey guys, I have a question.
I am a pre-December interviewee well.. the first batch, and I still haven't heard anything back from the school. What would this mean? Does anybody know?
I appreciate for your thoughts in advance.

I don't think I would quite call the waiting list at Roseman a graveyard. Though their waiting list is huge, it moves fast. Most people offered acceptances at Roseman ultimately don't accept because of: 1)Accepted to a state school 2)Accepted to a cheaper school 3)Accepted to a more established program 4)Have multiple offers and don't want to pay the $1000 deposit 5)etc. Also, I think it's fair to assume many applicants who make it on the alternate list even decline for the same reason, or ultimately get accepted to another school; just look back through the previous pages to see how many are saying they're passing on either acceptance or wait list. Not sure if this also indicates anything, but there are currently only 35 people (including administrators) in the Class of 2020 facebook group, so I'd bet Roseman is still trying to secure half of their spots for this coming year.

Hey guys Im interviewing at rosemen next week, can someone that interviewed there tell me how long the interview is and what time should I expect to be leaving the school ? Also I heard from some that its an open file, while others said its closed file? I apologize if these question were asked previously.

I hope there is room for me still... :\

It takes about 4~5 hours. Did you sign up for morning or the afternoon? and mine was open file.

Officially withdrew my seat at Roseman! Good luck to everyone! Hopefully moved the waiting list up!!!

Hey guys, im just wondering are weekday interviews the same as weekend interview days? for example is it the same amount of people and same day lay out ?

has anyone received a rejection from Roseman or do they just never tell you?

Just wondering because I have been under review since November...

No. I had an interview there in September, but I haven't heard from them. Still waiting to hear from them.

Hi everyone,
I just want to know if there is anyone else with the same situation as me...
I interviewed last year (February 6th) and I was put on the alternate list. However, I have not yet received any interview invitations this year which makes me very concerned considering that I improved almost every aspect of my application, and I applied much earlier this time as I was graduated already.
I Appreciate your comments and feedbacks on this. :)

I'm in the same position as you. Interviewed last Feb and was put on the wait list and didn't get in. Reapplied again this year with improved DAT score and shadowing hours and nothing yet.

Losing hope quickly here and planning a new career path :(

Hang in there. If being a dentist is your dream then don't give up so easily. Spending a few years to get into a dental school is okay because you are going to practice until you retire. So, start preparing for the next cycle. If you think your gpa and DAT scores are good maybe the problem is your interview. Find a tutor who can get you ready for interviews.

I'm sorry, I wish you had a better outcome. I'm not exactly sure what you improved from the previous application cycle. This was my second year applying, and fortunately my last, since I have now been accepted. Here's what I improved between application cycles:
1. Took multiple dental school simulation courses, Roseman being one of them.
2. Became CPR and AED ceritifed
3. Retook the DAT, going from 82nd percentile to 98th percentile.
4. Added 100+ more shadowing hours for a total of 700+.
5. Diversified my shadowing experience spending more time with specialists.
6. Added 115 more volunteer hours.
7. Added 400+ research hours.
8. Took two leadership courses.
9. Lots of little things as well.

Did I mention that each year I applied to more than 20 schools? To be quite honest I think it was the Roseman sim course that did it for me (met faculty there that I ended up interviewing with later). Getting into dental school is hard, and only getting harder/more competitive. If it's really what you want to do, don't give up. It'll pay off even if it takes 5 years to get accepted. Good luck future colleague!

Thanks everyone for your replies and all the information you provided which were quite helpful!
I wish you all the best in the near future!
I guess we just need to stay positive!
Just because something is not happening for you right now, it does not mean that it will never happen...

Thanks for the reply! This was also my second year applying.
I actually think it was the course that was the major factor since I had done the following things and nothing has happened yet...
I improved from an overall gpa of 3.1 to 3.3(becoming an honour student in my final year). I also took 9 credits of professional programs in the health aHuman Services with 4.0 average.
I did not retake the DAT as I had 23 AA ...
I had almost +100 shadowing hours with an oral surgeon and a general dentist.
I also had many hours of volunteering for different organizations, and I completed two projects in marginalized populations of my city regarding oral health, and of course, I applied earlier ...

Hate to say this but if you haven't already been accepted, start planning ways to improve your application now! Find a job at a dental office, take more courses or a post-bacc or grad program, shadow more, rewrite your personal statement, do research, just do something! I'm a D1 and many folks in our class (esp. the guys for some reason) are nontraditional, did grad programs, applied multiple times, retook the DAT, etc.

I BARELY got in myself (interviewed Feb 6. last year) and I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that got in from the group of 40 (though a fair number of people I've talked to interviewed late Feb/March). This is not to make myself look good, but this is just to advise that you should be improving your application now- June is just a few months away. I was waitlisted a week after my interview and didn't get accepted until June 4th! In the meantime I had started working at a dental office which helped me at least feel like I was still moving in the right direction.
Stats: oGPA: 3.4 sGPA: 3.2 TS:20 AA:20 PAT:26

Don't give up hope! But keep moving forward, hope to see you guys next year!

Same situation! I thought they said Monday they would call. However, the thread has been quiet and I think they haven't made decisions yet. I hope they let us know as soon as possible since this was the last interview session!!!

I just emailed Roseman, the class is not yet full and there is a waitlist currently. Interviews are continuing until the beginning of spring.

The class is not yet full?? They only have 82 seats available and interviewed about 600 applicants right? How does that make any sense? lol

Hey guys how long does it take after the interview to hear anything about your status. I interviewed last week wondering when we'll be hearing any news

I got a call 3 days after my interview... it all varies depending on your whole interview process. They actually take it seriously and not base it just on your DAT score. Hope that helps!

I hope so! During the interview, all they talked about was my low OChem score. I hope they see the person as a whole and not just the DAT!! When was your interview by the way?

Did they bring the ochem score up or did you? I had some red flags and we didn't talk about them at all....actually worried me cuz I wanted to talk about them and try to explain them.

They started the interview by asking me about my DAT scores. They said "tell me about your scores". So I mentioned my scores and they only talked about my ochem score the WHOLE interview.
