Does anyone know the minimum grade for prereq? Is it C and above or B and above?

Has anyone gotten a confirmation that their deposit was received?

Does anyone have any more info on the post-bach program? Are there going to be more interview invites sent out? Will everyone who was invited to apply get an interview? I'd be kinda sad if they made me pay $75 to just leave me hanging 🙁

I interviewed for the post bacc program last year. Initially, there were only a few dates available but I quickly found out that they continued to to extend out more interviews. I'm not sure if everyone gets an interview though. Also, I'm not sure if they are doing things differently this year since I did not apply for the post bacc this year.

March 15th. Its in the attachment to the email
I didn’t get an attachment in the email. We’re there multiple emails for you? They said they would mail me an acceptance package.

Also is it too late to apply/receive scholarships?

To the people who got their acceptances this week, when did you interview? I interviewed on Feb 6th and still haven't heard anything... and I actually really wanted to go to this school

I am in the same boat. I'm assuming if we haven't heard back yet it's game over?

Anyone here has postbacc interview on March 8th and staying at the Conwell??

Anyone interviewing for the post-bacc program, the confirmation email states "personal interview/ oral exam with current faculty". Is this just a regular interview? I know that for the past classes they had video interviews...

I'll be there on the 8th as well. Does Conwell offer a discount for interviewees?
I tried booking a room using Conwell site but it said sold out so I used a third party and was able to get a room. Would you want to uber pool to the interview?? I am flying from CA and would love to meet up! My first time in Philly and a bit little nervous...

I was thinking the same thing! but at the end of the info page it says schedule can be changed without notice... so we just have to wait and see.

What is going on with the people who haven't heard back yet from the February 6th interviews?

Are you happy with your choice in enrolling? What was the interview process like? Are you in state? And most importantly, do you feel confident that this program has equipped you with the necessary tools to be accepted into dental school and succeed? Thanks!

How many people from the post-bacc program typically go on to Temple's DMD program?

It varies every year depending on various factors such as the post-bacc class size, number of people that meet the benchmarks, and number of people that get accepted to other schools and decide to attend. Our class size is currently sitting at 62 and Temple has roughly 40 (maybe a few more) DMD seats saved for us.

I'll approach this question from a couple of different directions...
1. Yes and no. Yes in that I appreciate the profession a lot more after attending. With the amount of exposure you get in regards to how their dental school is ran, you'll be significantly ahead of other incoming DMD students the following year (should you choose to stay at Temple). The "no" has more to do with just the overall price point. You do not get any sort of certificate upon completion of the program, and there are definitely much cheaper options to be pursued. They also are constantly making changes and adjustments to the program every year, which can be very frustrating at times.
2. If you're referring to the interview process for applying to the post-bacc program, it was very laid back for us. We just had a video interview where you go into a room and talk about anything you'd like for 6-7 minutes. Then, there are cards on the table. You pick one, flip it over and read/answer the (ethical) question. It might be different for you guys though -- not sure.
3. No, I'm not in-state.
4. Honestly, the program mostly comes down to what you decide to make of it and how much you put in. If you do everything you're supposed to and hit the required benchmarks (20AA and 3.5 GPA for us), you will be in good shape to succeed once IN dental school, especially if you end up attending Temple's DMD program. As far as acceptance into other dental schools, it's always case by case. If you struggled in undergrad, this program is not going to magically cover and make up for the C's you got in orgo, etc. It does help your application, but realistically, you should not expect to have 8 more interviews next cycle than you did this cycle just because of the program. Arbitrarily, I'd say if you put in the work and do well, 2 more interviews than you got the previous cycle is probably a reasonable estimate, especially if you apply broadly. (again, YMMV) That being said, a good chunk of our class have received interviews from other schools.

That is very helpful thank you for taking the time to answer questions! much appreciated!

Thank you so much for answering our questions. Would you mind sharing why did you choose this program instead of other options that is like you mentioned, cheaper? How supporting are the faculty/ staff when it comes to application/ LoR requests? Would you also say it is very hard to maintain a 3.5 in the program? In regards to the Kaplan course, is it included in the tuition or is it something extra that we have to pay? How about the dental assistant exams that we have to pass? How did the school help post-bacc students prepare?

No problem! So as far as choosing the program goes, to be honest I hadn't looked into any other potential post-bacc programs at the time because I was waitlisted at a couple of schools and had high hopes, which was a mistake on my part - I should've done more research. I don't mean that as a knock on Temple's program or anything, I'm just saying that it's always smarter to keep your options open and look for other opportunities. Faculty/staff are great for the most part in regards to helping you with your application and new LoRs (but for LoRs, it will depend on which professor you ask. Some may decline for various reasons, which is totally normal.) Brian's door (director of admissions) is always open if you'd like to go over/discuss any questions, concerns, or tips for upcoming interviews one on one with you. For our class, he did personally come in a couple of times to talk about how we should approach reapplying and to answer some of the general lingering questions our class had, particularly early on in the summer when the new cycle opened up. As far the difficulty in maintaining the 3.5 goes, the general trend seems to be that they've been making it more difficult to maintain with each passing year (i.e. last year the 3.5 referred to overall GPA. This year, it's strictly science GPA, so all clinic and dental assisting courses did not count towards it.) With that being said, I personally have had a significantly easier time doing well in this program than I did in undergrad, and I'm sitting well above a 3.5. Take that how you will. The Kaplan course and all materials that you will need throughout the year are covered as part of tuition (including all textbooks that you may use for classes). My best advice as far as the DAT goes though, is that if you are sitting below a 20AA and need to retake it, it is absolutely in your best interest to try and do so BEFORE the program actually starts in May. It is a miserable experience trying to juggle studying for it while taking classes and I'm sure that my classmates that had to retake it would also attest to that. The dental assistant exams were all done during summer semester, where you'd have online modules to complete on your own time (but you do have to complete them all by a certain date, as completion of the modules and passing the exam does count towards your grade in certain classes such as Radiology.) One of the courses in the summer is dental anatomy, which helps tremendously in preparing for one part of the exam. After you finish the modules, you schedule your exam with a testing center (just like how you schedule the DAT). Passing was not an issue for our class at all, so I really wouldn't worry about it much.

Anyone flying today have a delayed flight due to weather? I’m flying tomorrow evening.

Oh yes!! Had to wait at Harrisburg for 2 hours before allowing to land at PHL... if you are flying in the night before I think it should be fine...

Once accepted, how much is the tuition deposit?

Hey guys so I also just got accepted this past Friday. I was wondering if anyone else was deciding between temple and another school and can give me some advice. I have till the 15th to either answer nova or temple.

Where do you live?

Does anybody know where I can find a schedule for the post bach program classes and when they start and when breaks are
Or if someone is currently in it could they message me the current schedule? I would really appreciate it 🙂

Does anyone know if they will still send interview invites for the post-bacc program?
