***The Official USC Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Does anyone know when the next wave of acceptances will be sent out?

Based off last year, there was a wave sent out end of February (like the one that was sent out this past friday), and the next wave was in april.
They said March first.

You're right, USC is expensive. But that 500k won't be for me since I live 15 mins away from USC so I'll be saving on living expenses. I'd consider it but won't drop it in a heartbeat. Between USC's laidback atmosphere vs UNLV's gunner central and people like you, USC's excellent alumni base and all the other prestige that comes with being a USC alum, family and friends around the area. Don't forget about the Cali weather and beaches, the eye candies at USC campus itself ZOMG. Quality over quantity for me. Fun over prunes. PBL over traditional. I mean UNLV does have strip clubs and casinos I guess which are fun. I go to Vegas with my friends a lot for the clubs and I think it's pretty distracting and tempting having those places close by, you know especially when you can use cash acquired by student loans to "double up" in the casinos lol. By the way, I don't see you bombarding other schools with similar costs such as the MWU's. Seems like you got a personal beef with USC though just saying lol.

Don't go to USC they said, it's expensive they said...don't consider all other factors only expenses they said.

You're justifying the 450K debt because of name, PBL(lol), laidback students, and hot girls? So you're telling me if you got into a cheaper school where you'd save 100K+, you'd still go with USC?

LOL to each their own

didn't I answer this question already? You read what I said. Why do you still ask what I'm justifying. Lol.

is anyone rejected after interview? or only wait listed?

does anyone know if they are still interviewing?

Rhetorical questions. I'm guessing comprehension isn't your strongsuit.

I'm still patiently waiting for your response regarding your UNLV statements, however.

really? these are the saddest and most pathetic reasons to choose a dental school, clearly you aren't going into dentistry because of a passion to help people as a healthcare professional.

It's okay though. The USC name will carry his career apparently.

Whoa hey now, bb2014 is just defending USC by listing some of its perks. Saying that he doesn't have passion to help people is going a little too far.

I'm sure everyone on this forum appreciate the different opinions/analysis, and ultimately it's up to each individual to make their final decision.

You don't know me. My reasons to choose a dental school and WHY I want to go to dental school are two different things. Just because I want to go to USC doesn't mean I don't want to help people. I have over 6000 total dental related hours and 2000 plus hours in community service. Now why would I spend all this time just to not help people out?

so someone who cares about the debt load and future certainty like me is a gunner? and people who don't care about the debt are laid back and good? Since I care about debt so much I dont even think of specializing (which returns to point one, no need to gun if i dont want to specialize)
yes, congratulations, your debt is now cut to 400k$ which is a bit doable with u manage to live for free and breathe air for food (or parent-sponsored food and rent)

your recreational reasons of USC and UNLV are just ridiculous and lame. I am sure dental students will have super sharp focus to study and don't get distracted by hot/dry weather, casino, strippers, hot girls, beaches, etc.

and you are right, a lot of other schools have similar but still lower cost (50-60k lower, factor in living expense), which is still better than USC. but since I only attend MWU-AZ and USC I can only state the facts for these particular schools. only at USC, I see

1. No dentist faculty present during the interview due to short of staff. yea they can't manage to hire enough staff with that dough. However, the administrators are really nice. Other schools, dentist faculties carry out interview (at least for traditional interview and group interview)

2. the acceptance email from USC I receive is written by a JD. really? they uses lawyers to send emails now without calls. while schools i heard back from have dentist faculty to call and congratulate then the schools send me an official letter through mail. USC didn't even send me the official letter until I asked them this when they informed me they rescinded my acceptance.

3. and PBL, they charge you top dollars and don't even have the alive dentist faculty to teach you. PBL, hopefully you know, basically just means study by yourself. Sorry, i rather do traditional lecture (thats how I thrive in undergrad) and group study with my classmates rather than PBL.

4. too much emphasis on football team and reputation. sorry, I didn't even know of USC when I was still in NorCal.

Yes, when you graduate and you mention your a Trojan dental grad, people will just know how much debt is on your head at a very very pricey institution. not necessarily the skills. And have fun staying in California, treating MediCal patients and pay back your debt because only in Socal, the USC reputation is popular (which I still don't know why)

as you probably know, the prestige culture of dental education does not exist (except good school place more people in specialty) as long as you want to be a GP and a school can give you sufficient clinical skills to be a GP, all schools are technically the same. Thats why some prestigious dental schools closed down before (Emory, Loyola, Georgetown, etc)

While your math is sound, who gets denied IS tuition for UNLV? Many students don't change residency? Yes, I'm sure "many" students love denying cheaper tuition.
Also cost of living in Nevada is not 20k/year, thats LA.

My calculations cover the equipment package cost. People may not necessarily pay 20k to live in Nevada but it sure its close (I had the experience of living there for a couple of months).
You pay appx $2000/month to live in Nevada? You gamble?

I was teasing another student earlier about the possibility of having one's acceptance offer revoked, but did USC really rescind your offer because you asked them to send you an official letter of acceptance?

no, because I didnt put down the deposit (they can just say they withdraw my file but it sounds more powerful to rescind the acceptance)
it is only then I inquire them about not accepting the official letter or any communication other than the email, only then, they send me the official letter dated the same day i received the email (1 week before) but postmarked 1 week after and came to me 2 days after the deposit deadline date.
it may sound unbelievable but its true lol. the letter has no official school's letter head. it is basically just a print out of the email i receive and no signature either.

I can confirm this. I received a printout of the acceptance email a week after my deposit due date.

I am just going off of previous years threads on SDN, they seem to wait more than a month after the wave in February to send out the next wave.

I would go crazy too haha

Yeah I'm on the same boat. It's looking like we'll have to wait until April

are they still giving interviews

And yeah it seems like they are. There are A LOT of seats left and they interview through April!

I personally think that USC will give out acceptances in March 1. I think that the late February acceptances were to fill the available seats left open by those who got accepted December 1st/ January, but withdrew their acceptance. From what I read, only last years C/O 2019 had late February acceptances andno March 1 acceptance batch. Every other year had March 1st acceptance batch.

Check your AADSAS portal on March 1st or the early week of March guys. I never received the acceptance email until I saw what has been update on my AADSAS 5 days later and call to confirm. They resend me the email but I still lost those days for my consideration...

I think the chance of gettng accepted at USC are pretty high after the interview. All of the people I know including me, who were all waitlisted after Dec 1, are accepted as of now. Not all my friends applied to USC got an interview tho(3 out of 8 got it) and our stats are very similar. So celebrate if you recieve an interview at USC!!!

Everyone gets waitlisted immediately after. That's a fact, they even tell you when you are there.

I think you are pretty much accepted if your gpa and dat is above 3.6 and AA23
Few of my friends who did poorly on interview still get accepted to USC.
One of my friend did great job on interview and rejected because of low gpa.
I think other applicants(low stats) are pretty much back up.
They really don't care how well you do on interview.

who, in their right state of stable mind, wants to attend USC with this stats?

they will take this stats and run away as far as possible to the nearby UCLA/UCSF, etc

i feel like you have no idea how you did in the interview. its so different, maybe your friend thought he did well but didn't actually. its not like they tell you or its clear how well you did

didn't apply to usc, but more power to those who "fit" in with the program. i personally felt the program wasn't a "fit" due to my connection with the environment, administration / students and the dental program - PBL (no thanks). if anyone feels they'll thrive in this program, go for it. cost is definitely something to consider.

haven't visited in a while since ryan pineda left, but is it still USC - univ of second choice? they interview 500-ish students and the program's yield is very low, which means this school is still second choice for many. LOL good luck to you all.

Well, I personally think some people here are off the track and being ridiculous. This is not a thread asking for your opinion abt USC. Maybe you dont think the school is a good fit for you for whatever reason is, who cares??? For some others, this school is their top choice regardless of the cost, pbl, etc... And don't make fun of "hot chicks" in SoCal environment. Its just so childish. I personally would not like people trashing my school for whatever reason. If you don't like USC, I hope you get in your top choices and be happy. But you don't have to spread negativity about the school that others are attending... I just feel irritating to read "off-the-track" post in a interview/acceptance thread! Go create a "I-hate-USC" thread and express yourself there!!!
