****The Official Western University Class of 2016 Acceptance Thread****

I think the class is full right now.... Ah.. I really want to get in...

Did you call?

Regardless, I'd imagine it's full too. The last round of acceptances in CA probably filled it up. Now it's probably based on a drop/accept bases.

I was really hoping for it, too 🙄 But until then, preparing for 2013 cycle. Western 2.0

called and they said the class is technically full and will expect some drops. However, I do not know it is true or not. Lets just hope then...

Well, I guess they technically don't know whether students will drop or not either. But I'd imagine that history dictates that they usually still have drops around this time from previous years.

Like you, I really hope that is the case. Then the remaining 3-4 people on this thread, including me, can all be C/O 2016!

Who did you talk to when you called?

I used admissions counselor number which was 909-469-5697. Did you guys call them to find out more info?

Does anyone recently recieve acceptances? Please post if you have. Thank you SDNers

i received an alternate confirmation again..

Ditto.

I guess it means they still have open spots/are expecting spots.

Sooo, do we have to respond if we would like to stay on the alternate?

It says to respond if you want to be removed, but doesn't say anything about staying on.

I feel like I want to respond because just to show interest, but I'm afraid by responding, they'll just see my name and remove me :scared:

What is everyone else doing?

I also got the email. I think I'm going to respond and emphasize that I do NOT want to be removed from the list...:xf:

Right, that was my initial intention.

However, it clearly states, in bold to only respond if you want to be removed.

Hmm...🙄 😕

It does not say to ONLY respond if you want to be removed. I think I am still going to send a response.

I got the same and I'm not going to respond! I'm not taking that chance!

I will probably not going to respond. If you want to respond to this email, I think you can first call your admissions counselor to ask about it. Let me know if you do. Wish you Luck!!

:scared:

Now you're all making me question whether I made the right choice or not. I responded... Hmm...

Maybe call to ensure that you are still on the list later today or tomorrow.

It seems to be ok that you responded to the email. Plus it did give me an idea that there is still quite a few out there on the waitlist still because the lady said the phones have been ringing alot the other day making sure that the lady didn't take them off the list.

That is unfortunate 👎

Yeah, that is what I was thinking of doing today before closing. Call just to check-up on the status of my application.

Did you speak with Marie Anderson or one of the counselors?

That is unfortunate 🙁 But I also noticed at the bottom of her e-mail she is the director of admissions for the dental school as well as the optometry and podiatry school so hopefully some of those alternate students are from those!!

Dricem - Did you end up replying to that e-mail, and if you did, did you call them afterwards to check up on your status?

I ended up calling and leaving Marie a message Thursday morning.

hey guys! great news, kind of. My friend was on Western U's campus for an orientation of their school and came across news that he heard. He had heard that they will be admitting a little more students this year than they previously anticipated. I know a lot of students got word that the average class size would be a little smaller than last year, but according to some admissions, it wont be the case anymore.

Please take this information with a grain of salt as this is information passed onto me and not directly from admissions, but either way it is hopeful!!

I've been emailing my Admissions Counselor, Jessica Bartolome and this is her response today:
Her email said,"There has been some movement in the last week. If you are selected to hold a seat in the class, a letter and phone call will get sent out to you. As of early June 2012, there were 99 students enrolled (paid deposit) in the OD incoming class. Typically, the standard class size for the OD program should be 86 students."

Does this mean that we have little to no chances left?:scared:

Correct.

Because we are applying for the DMD degree and therefore, we have zero chance of getting into the optometry program. 😀

o wait. I hope she doesnt think I'm in the optometry class. Thanks for catching that. I'm going to email her back!

To the admitted class of 2016: DO NOT live at The Metropolitan housing complex on 3rd & Towne! I can't begin to tell you the horrible experiences other students and I had living there. Don't be fooled by the pictures online. It's not safe! There are psycho people and druggies that live there -- I swear it was so distracting because the cops would be at someone's house trying to break up a fight or arrest someone everyday. My friend's apartment got broken into the 1st day he moved in. He's a big guy too, even he was scared living there. The management are worse -- liars, cheaters, and crooks! Once they have you signed, they don't care about you. They lied about 24 hour security and they told me that the carpet was cleaned prior to my move-in but it wasn't. I tried to contact management but they seemed to be "busy" everytime I called or walked in their office so i lived with carpet that smelled like piss for 6 months until I moved out. 😡

I won't get into all the ugly details of my experiences because I could go on forever. Trust me, please, if you want to do yourself a favor DO NOT live at the Metropolitan!!

Anyone still looking for housing or a housemate? I'm still looking around. If you know of a place or if you are also still looking or have any suggestions please message me. Thanks!

They could have just joined today and gotten accepted previously.

Thank you for the information though!

:xf: For those of us who are still waitlisted. Maybe they will take a few more.

So I double checked and she said that she was "accepted" yesterday. Who knows? Good luck!

Wow, so that means there is still movement (or at least there was 😛).

Do you mind asking her how she was notified? I don't have a Facebook 😳

Thanks TireKicker!

cGPA/sGPA: 3.02/3.67
AA/TS/PAT: 20/19/22

I haven't asked around too much, but I know of some with 19's and 18's, but they usually compensated in some other area.
