***The Official Western University Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

It's not a waitlist. My friend applied to Western and was accepted last year. They're just being nice enough to essentially say "hey, don't freak out, you'll get a response soon but they either haven't got around to your app yet or they are still in the process of making a decision"

She got this email around October last year iirc

I got the email too it sounds like a standard "your in review" email.

Ok good I was like is this good or bad?
 
Did anyone add any additional comments on the secondary application? The little box wasn't too inviting. I probably wish I added more about the school.
 
I got excited to see their email and then ohhh. Now I'm all freaked out
 
Just received this email, "In an effort to keep you updated on your application status, this email is to let you know that your application has been placed in (or is still in) continuing review. This means that your application received a partial review but has been placed on hold. Applications placed in this category are generally considered less competitive academically but will receive periodic review by the Admissions Committee. We will certainly notify you if there is any change in your application status."
Anyone else get this? I wonder if this is a polite rejection🙁

I'd call this a waitlist. You're far from rejected, but you might have to wait a while before you hear from them again
 
Just received an email.

"This email is to let you know that your application is still with the College of Dental Medicine Admissions Committee. It is possible that the Committee hasn't reviewed your application yet or they have made a decision and haven't informed us yet."

Not sure what this means. I guess its better than a rejection.

Yeah I just got the e-mail a few minutes ago, but I got the invite yesterday
 
Anyone know hows the commute to the Dental school from LAX? Im not very familiar with the LA area... In fact I have never been to LA before

Would you recommend flying into the airport closer to the dental school (Ontario) instead? Interview I think starts early in the morning. Deff wanted to check out LA though

Ontario is much closer. Generally LA is much cheaper. If you fly in that early then you would beat traffic.

Not yet, however I asked them to send an email. They said they will be sending in 2-3 days
 
Interview date : 10/3/15
Notification date (by phone and confirmed by email) : 9/1/15

It's best to go from 10am-1pm. Never experienced traffic coming from Orange County to LA at that time--takes about 45 mins.
 
Does anyone know what the transportation is like in the area? Since I can't rent a car and I've never been to California, is there an easy way to get from one place to another?

LYFT OR UBER! I use those two services religiously to get from one place to the next!
 
Okay I was thinking uber too! Just didn't know if there was any other way, but I'll check out lyft as well. Thanks guys! 🙂
 
Yeah definitely uber or lyft. I wouldn't bother renting a car for interviews in LA or really anywhere uber is available
 
Well i'm probably gonna fly into Ontario intl. Haven't heard great things about the traffic in LA lol

The money you'd save on über being the much closer would probably cover extra cost of Ontario!
 
Does anyone know if all the October 3rd interviews have been given out and the number of ppl who show up to each interview session?

I got invited to Oct 3rd but I had to reschedule to the 23rd

That email came out last Wednesday, which means they've only been in the office Thursday, Friday, and yesterday. I wouldn't be too worried that you haven't heard from then since....

I got the app is with admissions still as well.
 
Did anyone else Not get that "have yet to make a decision email" on that day? Because I didn't and I was first batch haha. hella ignored XD
