👍Got my acceptance email this afternoon!! I am so excited!! 😀

I interviewed on the 18th and got an email of acceptance also! Big surprise, that was really fast !

congrats everyone!! I'm so excited for my interview, hopefully some of you will be my future classmates =)

Congrats everyone.
I have my interview on january 8th also. Hope to see some of you there.

so after getting accepted, when do we get our packets. im sending my 500 as soon as i get it.

Why they have student questions-answers session ?
on which topic these mainly based ??

anyone get their letters in the mail yet?

merry christmas!

Congrats! 🙂

Any idea which school you'll be going to yet?

Thanks! Well, I have my interview with Nova 1-22 and that is REALLY my first choice of schools. I will also have to go to Mississippi 1-29 to 'finish my application'. My parents really wanted me to take the PCAT again, but since I already got into a school, I am not putting myself through that again. lol 👍

Is Jefferson your first choice?

No, not necessarily. I reallyyyy liked Jefferson after I interviewed. But I'm also really anxious to see what UCSD is like and see if I get accepted to Pitt. Both Jefferson and Pitt are ~2-3 hours from my home (different directions of course!), but life in San Diego could be nice too 🙂 So everything is still up in the air.

Life in San Diego would be nice, but SO expensive!! 🙂

The first one was with a woman named Elena and the second was with a woman named Emily.

Congrats to all the newly accepted PharmD candidates. You're all one step closer to accomplishing your goal.

On a side note, please try to remain professional when you post on these forums. I would advise you all against speaking ill towards your interviewers and identifying them on here. You never know who may read what you write.

Sincerely,

JSP 2012 PharmD Candidate

when did you interview?

sorry for the late reply! i interviewed 12/12 and got accepted a week and a half later 12/21!

good luck to everyone who are still waiting. the interview process is not stressful, so you should just relax, but still be sharp & professional. 🙂

for those who will be my future classmates, i am proud of us!!

nah it's not too expensive...i'll actually say that, from personal experience, life in philadelphia the city is more expensive than living in la jolla, orange county, or the bay area outside of SF city limits.

the effective tax rate for someone making <$50k (if you work as an intern, you fall in this area) is higher in Philadelphia than CA due to the strange philly wage tax. Also, quality of housing stock is a better value in CA... one bedrooms in orange county ran $150-$250 more expensive vs. philadelphia but were of higher quality (and included parking).

so, in my experience, philadelphia has been more expensive than california.

Dang. haha thanks for the insight. I will have to consider that when I finally decide where I will be!

this just makes my decision harder! 🙂

Not yet; I'll check the mail when it comes today and let you know!

I interviewed on 12-18 and I received my acceptance letter in the mail on saturday. You guys will probably get them soon!

On the new student page, the first step of signing the agreement paper and paying the $500 deposit says it needs to be done within two weeks of acceptance. Does this two weeks 'start' when we received the acceptance email OR when we actually get the packets in the mail? I live in FL, got my acceptance last Wednesday, and have not received the packets yet. I just don't want them to think I don't want to go there because I haven't received my stuff yet!

I interviewed the same day as you (the 18th), and in my letter, it said that I must pay my deposit by January 7th. hope that helps!

Dang, that packet better get here soon! Thanks for the info!

Congrats!! I just got in too. 🙂

Ramen, IMO, where you take the prereqs isn't as important as doing well in them, especially if you'll be saving by attending a CC. But you might want to check with admissions just to be sure. Also, I would recommend completing your degree if you haven't.

I got into Temple too... I may have to give up my seat, which makes me sad b/c I also liked Jefferson. hmm..

So, i am still a bit confused. I interviewed the same day, but have not received the packet yet. Do i have to wait for the packet or can i send the deposit to the address they have listed without it?

No because you have to sign a paper and return that with the deposit. From what I understand from the 'checklist', different people will have different dates they need to send in their stuff by, probably depending on where they live. I called the school yesterday and they said the 'within two weeks' begins AFTER you receive the packet in the mail. WIth that said, I live in south Florida and I still haven't gotten my packet yet =/

Got my packet today! And the situation is as I thought it was; different people have different deadlines. My stuff has to get there by January 12.

I am interviewing at Jefferson this Saturday (1/9). Anyone else interviewing that day? I am coming from Miami alone...so I am kind of intimidated lol especially since this is my first interview.

I do not meet the minimum requirement for the PCAT...did anyone get in without a 70 in each subtest?
Also, I saw some of you mention something about taking classes at community colleges, does Jefferson not allow prereqs to be taken at cc's? Because I have taken a few there.

any info you could give me i'd really appreciate, thanks 🙂

My understanding from talking to Mrs Astle is that anything is acceptable as long as it is from an accredited institution. When I asked her, she clarified things for me. By the way, I have to take anatomy and taking it as an online course.

I got into Jefferson without a 70 in each subtest on the pcat- Also- i took gen chem 2 and psych at a community college over the summer and they said that was fine- im not sure about other requirements, i know some schools are picky about classes like microbiology and a & p but definitely ask at your interview

How about AP credit? I passed AP calculus BC when going into college, would that fulfill the calculus requirement? I am taking a calculus class at my local community college just to be sure, but if i don't have to would like to save money.

They don't have a min requirement for PCAT according to their site. They say the overall score of 70 is competitive

Hey, I'm from West Palm and I was there last month. Where are you staying? PM me and I will tell you some good places to go! =)

But as faras the school goes...I got in without 70% (check my pharmapps; my scores suck, but I still got in.) And I have taken all my prereqs at community college. I am one example that anything is possible because my stats are pretty low, but I have other extracirriculars and good letters of recommendation.

But like I said, PM me if you have anymore questions!

out of curiosity, was anybody actually rejected from jefferson? i haven't seen any posts with someone saying "oh man, rejected" or anything like that...just wondering

I'm actually curious about this too, also is anyone else having issues with TJU's campus key lookup?

haha good point. i suppose i wouldnt either.
i was just asking b/c there's a ton of ppl on the ucsd thread who did say that.

Hey I'm also interviewing this Sat. (01/09). See you there.

for those who sent in the deposit...

did you get a confirmation email? or just more snail-mail? basically i just want to know if there was any communication from jefferson verifying that the 500 was received

thanks!

I was in your situation, I ended up sending an email and received a prompt reply stating that they had received my deposit, then a few days later I received a letter confirmation via snail mail. I'm sure they received yours.

Ok I have a question. When will TJU be fully accredited?

I know they are not "non-accredited" and have candidate status. I know St. John Fisher college will gain full accreditation when their first class graduates in spring 2010 but when will TJU graduate its first class?

Thanks.

I believe the inaugural class is currently in the P2 year. So 2 1/2 more years before they graduate their first class.

For former students at TJ:

the students are required to maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA I have heard. Has this been hard to maintain at all...stressful? wish you wouldn't have chosen grad school there because of it?...
