that is a long time, earlier interviewers found out within 2 weeks. I emailed the school and told them i had other offers that I would decline if I got into TJU, then they told me I was in. Maybe you guys should put some pressure on them for an earlier response......

I read somewhere that you can give all your rejected schools a call, maybe even the person that interviewed you, and see if they can tell you why you got rejected. I know anyone can get anywhere if they know how to play the game. I would consider this option so you can improve on it.

You will get in somewhere. Just be your professional self. One suggestion, I would recommend to emphasize a certain goal of yours. Like
I used Research in Pharmacy as my tool to get an acceptance from another school. It showed I have a purpose to actually obtaining my PharmD. Everyone is there to gain a PharmD to be a Pharmacist, but who would the school want to have for their program. They would want someone that can bring something to the table no one else would probably bring, someone that people can get along with, be smart, but not arrogant, and stuff like that. They want to see passion for the field of Pharmacy, so luckily you can nail the remaining interviews you booked. Remember to stand out.

Ohh... I suggest to NOT memorize any answers for any questions you prepare. When I try to prepare for an interview, I memorize a general answer for questions, but when in the interview, I will elaborate on stuff I want them to know because that way I sound like more like myself. Just a few suggestions so you can nail your next interview.

Not all applicants use SDN... it may not be an accurate reflection of the number of people accepted or rejected. Also, most people tend to share their good news and keep bad news to themselves. Rejected applicants just may not want to share that information. Don't be discouraged and learn from your experiences. They aren't just testing your personality to see if you have the drive to be a pharmacist, but more importantly if you'd be a good fit for their school. I know it may seem unfair, but unfortunately most schools weigh them heavily. Good luck!

Exactly! Most of those that are invited have good stats too. They need to know why YOU in particular are better than the several hundred other applicants they interviewed. Just because you have a good GPA and PCAT isn't the whole story and you need to share that.

So I listened to one of the previous posts and contacted Stephen Doll directly since he previously emailed me and has a direct phone number to call at the end of the email. So..........he told me that........I GOT IN!! and he also repeated everything that a previous poster said. The interview committee did meet on Jan. 20th and that it usually takes 10 business days for them to let everybody know. Also another reason for delay is that they have to go through all the individual transcripts for accepted students by hand and that could be a very slow process.

So if there's anybody waiting from the Jan. 16th interviews I'm pretty sure all of the results should be done and you just have to contact the correct person that actually does know the results. Good luck everybody!

Don't give up! Keep practicing maybe with a mentor, family member, friend, etc. to simulate an actual interview setting so you don't tend to freeze up next time. Think of different topics of discussion for possible questions such as those posted on the interview feedback page. With your stats I don't doubt that some other school will be glad to have you... just don't let your nerves get the best of you and let your personality and passion shine!! Good luck!

your stats are really good. but the last school I interviewed at said gpa and pcat only make up 40% of their overall decision. I don't know about TJU, but social interaction and group interaction are important factors to adcom.

I knew a girl with a 3.9 gpa, and 98% pcat score. she applied to same schools as me, and got interviews to all of them, and didn't get into one school. She was bright, but couldn't communicate with people at all. she always used chemistry terms, and couldn't relate to a lay person. You have to be charming, charismatic, enthusiastic, and happy, and smart. Also, you need a good Personal statement. My personal statement never mentioned my grades, or experience in pharmacy, but more of my story of my life and community leaders and idols. So you have to be a likable person, not a smart cold person (and I don't think you were, I'm just saying.)

I'm sorry about your rejection, because my stats are lower than yours, but like the Dean of Sullivan university said,

"Many focus on GPA and PCAT scores as predictors of success but I think the linkage is less important than previously thought.We are looking for dedicated, hardworking, professional people who meet our admission criteria and have good people skills. I want to enroll students who are driven, energetic and welcome the challenge of pharmacy practice in a new century. I do not expect students to have a perfect academic record, but I would like to see evidence of progression, growth and improvement."

Well after my interview at Jefferson, I completely fell in love with the school. After my interview at Midwestern, the reverse happened lol. Yea yea.. many people are like "Not fully accredited?" but that's not a factor for me. Jefferson University is a very well-established institution and has a great reputation, there's no doubt that they will easily exceed all expectations. After weighing out my options, here are the following reasons I chose Jefferson over Midwestern:

- Midwestern's class size is 210 (which at first I thought I wouldn't mind). They have a couple classes with the med students which means you will sometimes be in lectures of ~350 students. I went to a big school for undergrad, and the thing I regret the most is not building close relationships with my professors because it was hard to be remembered in classes of hundreds. I greatly prefers Jefferson's size of 75. I'm very attracted to the idea of having a small 'family' and foster camaraderie among my classmates and professors along the 4 years. Plus its those close relationships with professors that will help me land a good residency.
- Jefferson is partnered with the hospital and is part of the Jefferson Health System.
- Jefferson promotes interdisciplinary relationships. I love the Health Mentors Program they have. I here mixed opinions about it but I think it'd be a valuable and unique experience.
- Jefferson is recognized much more than Midwestern for their research which is something I'm heavily interested in.
- I think looking for residencies after I earn my PharmD will be easier as a graduate from Jefferson than from Midwestern.
- Midwestern is more expensive.
- I simply didn't like Midwestern's campus... I think I'm just an east coast girl by heart. Plus, I'd prefer to be more in the city.
- Philly is closer to my hometown. With parents in poor health, factoring in how easy it is to visit them is important.

As for Creighton, I still think Jefferson is better. Granted, I decided not to give it a chance and decline my interview invitation. However, from where I stand now I place Jefferson as my #2 choice, behind UMD.

Did you get straight-out rejections? Not even alternate or waitlisted? I know how you feel...I have the same issue too. After 4 CA school interviews, I have been put on waitlist/hold for 4 CA schools. I know it has got to be the interview, how I am presenting myself to them. I'm sort of an introvert, but I know that it won't keep me from becoming a successful pharmacist. I'm planing to apply next cycle to out of state schools, such as Auburn and Sullivan. I heard that those schools use a standard rating sytem to admit students. That is, they score your interview, and afterwards, look at your whole profile (including PCAT, GPA, extracurric's, LOR's) and assign you an overall standard score. Then they just accept people based on that overall standard score, so it is more "fair" for those who have trouble interviewing. I have pretty good stats too (3.5 GPA). Anyways, keep ur head up, because I am, and good luck to you!

first of all, congratulations to everyone who got accepted to TJU for c/o 2014! although it's still early and im sure others, like myself, are entertaining other interview options, i must say that i am about 99% committed to TJU and am really excited to meet the other members of the c/o 2014! I got my job now because of my networking through Jefferson if that's any indication.

As for the HM program...it mirrors real life. If you get stuck with crappy/lazy medical students (which has happened quite a bit) you're gonna get annoyed. I have a fantastic group and I love it. It's a crap shoot, but preps you for the real world where some MD's you'll work with are stubborn and ******ed and the others are saints.

haha no, it's a non-refundable deposit. as are pretty much all other deposits for other pharm schools.

I just had a quick question and just wanted someone to verify it for me. I just wanted to make sure that even though Jefferson is a candidate school, it still has the same financial aid assistance right? such as the federal stafford loan?? i just got accepted to midwestern-ccp also and i know that they offer this and will assist you with whatever the total cost of tuition plus other expenses (which add up to around 50K). if someone can verify this it will make my decision to attend jefferson alot easier since i am leaning more towards this school than ccp.

Yup, i completely subsist on student loans, so all of my tuition bills, room/board, and food expenses are covered by financial aid (I borrowed $45k...mix of stafford, in-house loans, a grant -- technically not really a loan, and other stuff).

Yup, i completely subsist on student loans, so all of my tuition bills, room/board, and food expenses are covered by financial aid (I borrowed $45k...mix of stafford, in-house loans, a grant -- technically not really a loan, and other stuff).

well...i eat well, i have two fridges full of food/drinks from monthly trips to costco, uhmm...i travel a lot so that's kind of where my money goes. i can probably get by borrowing less and tightening up the budget but i figure why would i want to do that...i'm a) enduring life through pharm school and b) enduring life in philadelphia and all its interesting street characters...let me at least have a good time while i'm at it.

sure enough, my rather laissez-faire attitude about limiting my borrowing has paid off with this PSLF/IBR combo program rolled out by the Dept. of Education. I can now borrow the max but my ultimate payment due will be no greater than that of my more prudent colleagues.

But I digress...don't worry about money, borrow what you think you need and add 10-15% for unforeseen expenses. A lot of people maxed out their first year due to relocation/acquisition costs coming from the west coast and pulled back P-2 year. Better to have more money available than less unless you have access to other sources of $$ quickly.

In the invitation, it said the interview is consist of two one-one interviews with faculty and campus-tour. How long did it take?

I interviewed on 1-16, and it didn't take the whole 2 hours. Everyone in my group got done at about the same time. The first interview was the longest, it took around 25 minutes. The second one was shorter, about 15 minutes. Then everyone goes into a conference room with a current student...that only took around 10-15 minutes. Then we went on a tour with the student for about a half an hour. There was some waiting between interviews too, so keep that in mind.
I got their by plane and i didn't have a car to worry about, so i cant help you there.
